... Raziel's vision of himself standing upon a big castle, holding a Black reaver with red flames around it...

AFTER having baptized the reaver.

which he sees as he enters the chronoplast chamber in Soul Reaver 1.

Hmm... that was before the events of SR 2 and Defiance and even BO 2, right? So maybe... hmm... maybe that doesn't happen...

yeah, but the event with ariel did...

sufficient to say I don't think it should be ruled out just yet...

Hmm... I'm kinda hoping that you might be right... but it could also have been caused by Raziel's twin destiny...

Umah BloodOmen has said time and time again that those visions of the future Raziel saw in the time portals were possibilites of what could have happen. I am inclined to agree with her, but moreover, the portents were likely what happened in the original timeline before Kain went back in time and killed William the Just. When time was altered these future events were thrown out, replaced by new ones. The visions of the portals do not change because they only show what happened in the original timeline before the time alterations, being windows into time means they exist outside of the new changes to the time stream. The time windows do not factor in for Raziel's free will, they cannot predict what someone with free will is going to do, they can only show what a person shackled to the Wheel of Fate is destined by the wheel to do.

Most say (the storyline explanation is) that it's Raziel standing at Jano's aerie, holding (a different looking) Fire Reaver.

Nice thing is, all the scenes Raziel saw happened in one form or another.

As the first prophecie - the Ariel Reaver - was true, It seems to me that there's a possibility of Raz getting a Kain Reaver later on... his mission as both vampire and hylden saviour isin't finished, as the two nations must unite their forces againts "the true enemy" we will certainly see him again...why not with a Kain's soul from another period of time? Tis not really probable, but still possible)

I shall say only this: Time is but a jiggsawpuzzle.
though the choices we make are our own in all sense.. from someone standing at the end of time, looking at the outcome, it may seem as if everyone was destinied to do what they did.

but yeah, it is possible that the original timeline no longer exists.

well i think this goes into the whole "edge of the coin" plot. one is Kain gets killed, thus raz gains the Kain reaver and opens the pipes in sr1, KILLING ALL VAMPS. a bad outcome for Kain. Theres also one where Kain and Raziel Meet in his retreat (chronoplast) which im guessing Kain woukld win, for reasons that are currently to complicated at the time to say (its 3 am and i need to get up at 7, so sue me, i dont feel like typing them now) and thatg3rd "edge" is that Raz absorbs aeril's soul, purifiying nosgoth with the spirit reaver

Well, look at it like this. Raziel has free will, you can not see his actions, only the ripples of his potential actions. So says Mobius in Defiance.

First you see Kain facing Raziel and you have two possible outcomes of this

When you see that picture of Raziel on the big castle holding the black reaver, it's suppose to represent Raziel on the cathedral with the reaver imbued with Kain's soul. Supposivly he goes to the cathedral to blast a deadly hymn and distroys all the vampires in Nosgoth.

However, you also see him imbue the reaver with Ariel's soul in another glymps of the future that hasn't happened yet. Think of these two images as the ripples of his potential actions. He could kill Kain, or activate the spirit forge and baptize the blade with Ariel's spirit.

In truth the Reaver is bathed in Balance.

If you look at the other elements, the whole of the Soul Reaver is balance. The Blade becomes balanced by the end of Defiance, fully.

Dark and Light
Air and Earth
Water and Fire

Then the Wraith, baptized in spirit, is fused with the physical blade.

So the Reaver Blade, complete with the Balance Emblem, is balanced by being both a physical and spiritual weapon.

If you can work through that confusing bit of dialogue, then good for you. It works out in my mind anyway.
