Frozen winged beings

Have the frozen winged beings .. or what looks like frozen winged beings.. in the caves where the oracle is hanging out in BO1 been discussed before? I just noticed them while I was replaying BO1. Any theories? Are they the ancients?

I think they could be ancient beings who went in the caves and froze to death.

who says they r dead? suspended animation maybe. maybe we see them in bo3/sr3?
