I thought i make a thread for the other voice of users. So make a post if you liked it.

On to my view of the camera,it did make it seem much more like a interactive movie and the first time i jumped left to right with raziel it was great. It looked like a ingame video.I had a big smile on my face.As far as gameplay i did not find it any more hard then the other soul reaver games, infact i thought this was a little eazyer then the other games.I played the pc version.

In battles, it was great. But I did have a few jump problems with it, but people are really exaggerating the problem.

The cinematic camera is the way to go. True about the jumping, but people are vastly exagerating the problem.

I was almost condisdering making one of these myself, but I figured it might end up being closed by 'non-believers' flaming the camera in here, but good work anyways, I hope this thread lives. Thanks for sparing me the time. :)

I would hate that the next LoK wouldn`t have this camera.

I love it!

j/k - subject line from old 'In Living Color' skit ... but I couldn't remember the skit name.

Anyway, I like the camera -- and had a thought on the way into work about "correcting" the camera for people who really do hate it. What if the axis point where it changes angle were slightly outside the 'wall' vertices? would that create clipping problems or something? I don't know about the game engine supporting it, but something like that might correct the *problem*. I imagine the other side of the coin to such a camera axis-point-change issue would be the amount of additional code required, but someone at CD or E (Do you know your alphabet?! Te he.) would be more informed than I about such an issue. Chris@Crystal, Umah Bloodomen, any idea(s)?

I'd hate to *fix* the camera-angle-change-axis-point issue at the cost of losing gameplay and/or 'bonus' material'.

There, that's my .83USD -- Yes, I like the camera.

The cam is really good, and the game is tense (not really, it's easy) :p
i loved it, greatest installment of the series !!

This cinematic camera is really good inovation for Legacy of Kain.
I like it and, as I said before about 5 times, I had no trouble with it.

I've played, and completed the game on the X-box (Friends copy) and found the camera great! I am soon to purchase my PC copy, and am somewhat worried that it might be a little shakey to use, with my dodgy game-pad.

Woe is me :P

It took me a while to get used to. But by the end of the first chapter, I was completely accustomed to it. Not once did I run into any problems with it. Never did it hinder my view while trying to make a jump or otherwise obstruct my gameplay. I feel that most of the complaints about the camera are unfounded.

the problem with most people that complained is that they cant addapt to the fact that you have to press the right movement buttons in the right angle,so if the camera turns right you should press right to go forward instead of pressing the forward button and so on

I became accustomed to 3D-style controls such as that when I first played Resident Evil 2. Maybe even earlier.

You know I love the thing.

And lets try to keep the posts positive and not start attacking the minority of people who dont like it. Doing that just incites those people to come into this thread and start bashing again.

I had reservations about wether I'd like the camera scheme or not. But once I got into playing the game, I have to admit, I really do like it! Good work CrystalD!

I like how it's like speculating the characters actions, like in a movie. Yet in some places you can't see what you're hitting or where you're going. And sometimes if you're in combat and get close to the camera it would spin crazily, or you get blocked by a pillar or some other obstacles, and it deducts the entertainment value when that happens. Also sometimes hard to make distance estimates of jumping...

But other than that the camera served its purpose and it's beautiful.

I generally liked the camera. despite having major problems with jumping at times (I'm a PC player and I finished the whole game using the keyboard). But for the next game of the series the camera should evolve, eg. a system in which you could switch cams from the cinematic one to a static one or something like that.

That'd work well- please both groups. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing a first-person option thrown in too. :D

I liked POP a lot....... BUT THAT WAS AN INFURIATING CAMERA. I played it on the computer with keyboard and mouse and admittedly I've never liked that set up, BUT my Logitech couldn't be recognized by POP.
Since I had to play that way, I found the camera unweildly and very difficult. NOT so much during jumping but when I had to round a corner and come to a new obstacle. Those spinning swords were such a curse...LOL During combat on the bridges was difficult too. BUT I still liked it very much.
I played LOK on the playstation and had minimal problems with the camera. One thing that did annoy me was the tendency for the camera to reverse itself when entering a NEW screen, causing me to re-enter the screen I just left. I did adapt and lessened the frequency of "reverse camera-itis."

Words of great wisdom, indeed.
Sometimes the overal control just feels like hooked directly to the spinal cord. Even with keyboard.

Well, maybe I'm just a guy who likes to see where im running...

Loved the camera.

I hope they dont change it in whatever installment they make next. If they must do anything for the ppl complaining about it..make it an option to go traditional 3rd person..but please leave the fantatsic cinematic cam for the rest of us.

Too much jumping at JUST the right moment and grabbing a ladder or falling in spikes and wasting your knife.

Must be a bad port to Gamecube, because with PC, Pop is very forgiving with jumping, and doesn't need very accurate timing on anything...

the rewind system is btw the somewhat most innovative thing in games since bullet time.

the camera angle is great, but i dont believe people are exaggerating how hard it is to jump to certain places on the pc.

Some of the time, the camera does give you stupid angles but most of it is cool, i luv the cinematic effect the game puts you in.

However, about the jumping with Raziel - even with a gamepad instead of a keyboard, its still very hard. I am stuck myself on Voradors Mansion, ill have to wait untill somone can help me out before i can even attempt playing the game again.

The stupid thing about it, is i cant even see the pillar im trying to jump to, i line Raziel up with the pillar using 'E' but this doesnt help when your camera angle dominates the direction your character goes in.

Yes, The camera is very cool, but many people, including myself, ARE having problems with directions on jumping - this is not be exaggerated, and i dont care what you say. If you manage to do it fine, then you must bloody be very good at playing this game on the pc!

ya, although there seems to be alot of posts saying how they like the camera, the posts are only from a few individuals who frequent this site and Nosgothic Realm. I do not need to say who but you will know if you are one.
Let CD come out with another game with the same camera and appeal to the same old few people.

Amen to CD's profits

I haven't played Defiance yet, since I am in Romania and the game isn't out so I cannot say if I like the camera or not... But if I remember correctly, I had to do the same things (if the camera turns right, press right to go forward and whatnot) while playing SR1. Or, if I didn't want to do that, I had to press Ctrl or Shift or something to position the camera behind Raziel and then press forward... Can't remember exactly since I played the game like 3 years ago, but you get my point... :)

i love the idea of LOK:D, but just the setting of POP puts me off. to me, the story and setting is crucial to a game, as i feel i should care for what i am fighting for, and POP doesn't appeal.

plus all the screenshots of POP have HEAVY blurring (presumably to hide the low graphics, just like in NFS:underground and chaos legion) and i object to that completly.

developers should either put the effort into making a game look good itself and not rely on fancy graphical effects to hide their shortcomings.

LOK:D does this, since there is no motion blur (apart from weapons and the spectiual realm) and the game looks the sharper and better for it

That blur-thing in PoP is indeed a way to hide graphic nasties, it's just one of those tricks of the trade things, just like mist is used sometimes to hide the far clipping plane and such.
Anyway, you can turn the effect off (at least in PC) so you get to see the graphics as they really are.

What? We were talking Legacy of Kain here? Oh, sorry.

OK, Defiance.
I liked the camera —a lot. It did make some jumping sections kinda problematic, but nothing that couldn't be solved with a few hours of sleep and a retry with a more clear mind and steady hand.

Besides, I simply can't complain considering how awesome certain particular points looked, like the already mentioned Turel fight, and the Kain/Raziel showdown.
