Divine Shadow

Hey campers, for those who remember me, I hope you are well, having a great christmas and an even better new year. For those who don't remember me, same goes.
I've been away from forums due to not having Defiance (British, see). Today, for the first time ever, I got to play through the first two chapters of the game thanks to Gamestop's wonderful international shipping. I've been playing it on a friends PC, using the keyboard to control the gruesome twosome. Impressions and opinions, if you're interested:
-This IS a Legacy of Kain game, there's none of the Blood Omen 2 ambiguity. After hearing a certain someone yell a certain Latin war cry beginning with 'Vae', I was convinced of this. The characters are causing jaw drops and smiles. I mean, seeing:
Moebius nudge the blood reaver towards Kain - "You'll be needing this.", or the Elder's jabs at Raziel, and of course Kain being the perfect gentleman - "But it would be a lie"
I'm amazed. The story in this one looks like it IS going to be very interesting indeed.
-The Camera. I like it. I realise that, given current opinion, saying this aloud is going to probably start off a Divine-Shadow-Purge, or have me damned for all eternity to a suit of armour or some other household appliance (please - not a toaster), but I do like it. Awkward sometimes in Chapter 2 with a few of the jumps, I did slip a number of times and had to start again from the checkpoint - which was a WHOLE THREE SECONDS AWAY. But in combat, it has so far given me a clear view of who is around me. For the new combat system, it REALLY works. At least, so far.
-The graphics. UTTERLY STUNNING. I was playing it at a friends house, and his father in passing saw the game running. "Worth the price alone for the graphics" he said. I agreed. Not vocally, because I'd just used my first super attack and set a load of Sarafan on fire (them running around - comedy gold). This distracted me from saying 'I agree'. But I do agree and should he make such a comment again, I'd agree vocally. The underworld is breathtaking and the detail, my god, what is coming later?
-Controls. I'm confused. WHY are so many people having difficulty with this game? I AM playing it with the keyboard, and am so far not having any trouble. The gruesome twosome go where I want, when I want. A friend also had no difficulty in having a go. Am I missing something here? I reassigned the keys to my prefered system, arrow keys telling my characters where to go, and the bottom-left of the keyboard to do all attacks and actions and such.
-Combat - After two minutes of juggling some Sarafan Stormtroopers, I smiled and said "Me likey." Having a high honours degree in English Literature as I do, to make such an abomnible and incorrect use of grammar such as that means: I was either drunk on gin; or having an enormous amount of fun. The room was Gin-less.
I really like the combat thus far. Haven't mastered it, but having fun trying. Oh yeah, and Lord Kain fed on three baddies at the same time!! I was more excited than a dog whose just earned a free-for-all holiday to the fire-hydrant factory.
And my ramblings come to a close. I admit, I've only been on it for a few hours, and am only a bit into Chapter 3 (opened the mysterious falcon insignia door) but the game seems amazing so far. Not a single crash once, and a smooth install. Camera is cool and hasn't been the Big Bad that some seem to think it is. Looks and plays great. And no prob with the controls at this end.
The easy accusation to make here, folks, is that I'm so besotted with the series I cannot see problems that others passionately despise. There is no defense to this, as I am besotted with the series, and the Gods currently God-ing at Crystal Dynamics. But I'm not seeing these flaws, and I like to think I'm pretty observant. And to the descriptions I'm seeing that use the word 'unplayable', all I can offer is a genuine lack of understanding and complete confusion.
Thanks Crystal. I'm only at Chapter 3, but we waited for a new Legacy of Kain game, and my impression thus far is that you bloody well gave us one!
