Nope. Sorry. Stuck it out as long as i can but this game is shocking.
I have never seen performance this bad in my entire life.
Let me emphasise two things. 1) What i have seen of the game plot and play wise seems superb. 2) The reason I am annoyed is this: 12 FPS is NOT acceptable! I know this is not a high speed shoot-em up but anything below 30-40 FPS has a visible refresh rate and is agonising to play!! Add to that the fact that even on the highest details with AA cranked up, the rendering in this game is SERIOUSLY second rate. All very well having a real-time light engine but when the jaggies are so bad you cannot see what the object you are looking at is you've got problems!
Just to make a point by the way, here are my system specs:
XP2800
1GIG DDR 333
NForce 2 MOBO
GeForce FX 5900 ULTRA
There is no game available or planned that I cannot run at full detail (and I am a beta tester for 3 major software houses so believe me, I know...) and I score over 6500 points on 3D Mark 2003. So please, someone from the dev team, explain to me why I get 12 FPS average?
I am aware (or rather suspicious) that this may be an Nvidia driver problem. Something similar happened at the release of every other Warfare based game and was finally fixed in a driver update. Does that mean I've got to wait until this thing is released in Europe? Was there any point in me getting it shipped in?
Balls... anyway, anyone out there who is cinsidering this game, don't. Wait until it is fixed..... And yes I have tried every tweak and hint available (even though i should not have to!!) and they do very little.

Well, the few peeps in here have now read this and no one has a reply. I assume therefore that i am not being unreasonable?
Devs and mods: Sorry chaps, but my system is not only powerful enough to run this game it exceeds your 'required' spec by a HELL of a lot.
My conlcusion: It was botched (DAMN the XBOX, DAMN IT!!!) or NVidia have dropped the ball (AGAIN!!!)
Any comment at all from anyone?

don't get so mad for a stupid game...it's not their fault that they're ignorant,...
i have:
XP 2400+
512 mb ram
gef ti 4200
120gb
and i run the game at an estimated fps of 20-30
i'm not all too satisfied with this, but hell i can play the game smoothly in this!
i just hope they don't mess up DX3 like they did with this one...

Indeed it isn't. However, I got a minimum of 20fps standing in the base of upper seattle and looking up. This was at 1024x768 with low shadows and everything else on high.
similar spec machine other than the video card - a Radeon 9800 (non-pro)

Just had a quick run around again ( I have not gone further that the first outdoor scene aroundthe nightclub and the apartment block: don't wanna see anymore till this thing WORKS!) and the FPS is not that terrible. For the most part i guess I average 45 FPS. However there are huge amounts of scenes where this drops to between 9 and 12 FPS (like the top of the inclinator).
Why the hell is this?
Moreover it is not hte actual FPS that is the problem but the feeling of sluggishness while playing the game. Even when the FPS is high it feels like I am wading through treacle and the tearing, distortion, jagged edges, blurred textures, idiotic AI, bizarre edge detection, failure to save settings and overbright (what the HELL is that nonsense about?!?) is seriously not helping...

While I am ranting: I should point out that yes I am running everything on high detail. Thing is, If I turn all the detail off and lower my resolution from 1024x768 to 640x480 I only receive an 8-10 FPS frame boost....
Tell my thats right....

Yes, Dream, i too feel like this game was only half baked for the computer. I live in the U.S. and the version I bought about 2 1/2 weeks ago had all the same problems you describe.
My system-?
P4 2.0
Windows XP home
768 rambus memory
ATI Radeon 9200
40 g Harddrive
etc.
etc.
I've typed and seen this info too much already in forums about this game.
The game runs poorly even after all the tweaks and the patch and updated drivers... I get alot of choppiness and mouselag even after they were supposed to have solved the problems in the patch. I don't check fps, if the game looks and feels like crap, what does it matter what the framerate is?
I've played Call of Duty (twice) and a few other new <a href="http://go-advertising.com?go=games" onmouseover="window.status = 'goto: games';return 1" onmouseout="window.status=''">games</a> with great graphics and gameplay and had absolutely no problems, then again those <a href="http://0-2u.com?go=games" onmouseover="window.status = 'goto: games';return 1" onmouseout="window.status=''">games</a> were made and tested for the computer.
It's too late for me to get my money back, and I will have to sell this game for less than half of what I bought it or wait until a real patch comes out:mad:
If people are enjoying this game, that's great, but I have read alot of posts that go into explicit detail about how the game doesn't work for them. Where as the people who like the game just say it is great! - :(
The people involved with this game just need to come out and admit that this game was not ready for the PC. Of course they never will, and will continue to delete posts like this and tell us how picky and unreasonable people like me are.
"The graphics are revolutionary", "you can't expect it to run perfectly" cmon....those are excuses. I can and do expect programs to run well, especially when I invest alot of my hard earned $$$ in a good system and then 50$ in your game.
It's about the bottom line for the big game makers and developers. I won't fault them for wanting to make a profit, as long as they go about it in a ethical manner....they're on the razor's edge here.
I too have to worry about money and my own bottom line, and the next time I look to invest 50$ in some entertainment, it won't be with a company that sells unfinished products on the reputation of previous accomplishments. Then again these are just the opinions of one man.
Happy Holidays
Peace on Earth and all that

What worries me most is that I can't even comment on the game itself yet but a lot of people who have played it don't seem to like the game!
I want to give this game a day in court but until I get acceptible performance (ie a steady minimum of 40 FPS...) I am not going to even try it.
I just wish that for once a company would be slightly different; more brave if you will and actually answer some questions on its forum. I am not shouting the odds or baying for blood, I just want to know one thing: Is the terrible performance I am seeing due to incompatibilities that can eventually be ironed out or is this another balls up from NVidia? As i have said in another post somewhere, every Warfare based game that has come out has had huge probs with top end NVidia cards until a new driver was released (damned odd for an engine that has the 'the way its meant to be played' splash at the start... )
And before anyone gives me ANOTHER earful about expecting too much from a game: I am not. My machine is a good year ahead of the curve. I exceed the stated recommended spces by around 80%. Therefore I should be able to runthe game with ZERO difficulty. If I can't either the specs are bogus or there is a problem. And, as has been stated by others, if this game can be made to run on a P3 733 with 64Mb RAM and a modified GeForce3 on an Nforce 1 board (thats an XBOX to you and me chaps), what the hell gives with the PC specs?
So come on Ion Storm. For once show some compassion. Do I just give up and sell this game now or will I be able to play it?

First off, the entire world knows that this game blows performance-wise. Everyone is affected by it. That said...
Have you tried the 1.1 patch? It seemed to give me a real performance boost (5+ fps or so across the board).
Seriously... before 1.1, I could barely play at 1024x768... after 1.1, I can play at 1280x1024 and it only chugs occasionally. I'd say I average 30-40 fps at all times, all details maxed.
And please do not take this as a flame, because it's not... but from what I hear, the Radeons have a better time with DXiw (and most games in general)... have you considered a 9800 series card? I know, you're probably an nvidia fan and that's ok. Me, I've been using ATi for 3+ years now and I love 'em :)
Anyway, just some stuff that came to mind. I'm still not changing my sig... even though it's playing *ok* for me now, you should not have to have a rig like mine to play this game with acceptable fps.

Hi mate. I know you aint flamming. Don't fret!
Yes I have the patch. Makes not one jot of difference (aside from the mouselag and text size nonsense).
As for changing to Radeon. Nope. I aint got anything against them and I can understand how they can look better at the moment thanks to all the garbage put on the web by peeps who don't know what they are talking about, but there is actually very little difference in performance.
Truth is that if I swapped my FX for a 9800 PRO I would see some games get slightly more performance, some less. The only people who have bad experiences with either chipset are either 1) just plain unlucky or 2) too stupid to own such a fine card as 9800 or FX:D
As I have said at stupid length in other threads, my FPS is actually quite good compared to most. In a lot of scenes I get between 30 and 90 FPS. My problem is the ones were I get 20 or 9 FPS!. Thats just dumb. An example of such a place is at the top of the inclinator. Once the gas is cleared and that damned great nano bot is repaired. If I stand about 6 feet from it with my back to the switch for the inclinator I get 9FPS flat. Or go outside to the 2 workers and the woman who asks you to help fix the leak. A steady 23 PFS. WHY? There is nothing going on in either of those scenes!!! Yes, when you are watching the nano bot there is (I think) some usage of the pixel shaders but for the love of god, do the guys at IS know how much power an FX5900 ULTRA has?!?
