Why this game have so pure textures its like 256x256 to me even previous part have better resolution textures this makes game look cheap and engine it uses its what DX 7?
This console mania make all this if they put better textures it will be not playable on PSX 2 or XBOX so they get less money but they still dont want to rebuild game for pc still looks like PSX crap.
I have not less than 100 FPS in this game even about 200 FPS i think this is lil cheap for year 2004 game isnt it?

to each their own. Some like the gfx, some feel slighted. gfx are superb IMO. But I didn't buy the game for gfx.

Better graphics and gfx - more realistic game looks and more fun u get from it, but playing this one makes me feel like i am back to PSX 1.
Check graphics on max setting in game and in drivers...

It looks great to me. If you are looking for a game that will give you a slower framerate, maybe you should check out Deus Ex II instead.

boo hoo
It's a PS2 port, what did you expect?

After having played the PC version tonight, it also looks like:
a) you're playing it with texture filtering disabled
and
b) those screenshots are of fractions of the screen that have been blown up to a huge size.
Try playing it with anisotropic filtering, and enable AA if you have such a powerful PC. I'm running a GeForce4 ti4600 and it looks great at 1280x1024 and that's where I'm keeping it.

If u looking for slower prefermance? huh ? I have 200 fps on my ATI Radeon 9800 XT and i have all maximum settings in drivers and game FSAA 6x and AF 16X to, so i dont think i get much less prefermance. Its year 2004 u know and games like this its cheap realy looks more like PSX 1. And screens are original size.
Its PSX port, right - thats why its so crappy.
About Deus Ex 2 - preformance there lost not because good graphics just because that game is peace of PSX crap it have bugs in itself and was not optimized and it lags even on PSX. And gameplay is 2/10.

I think there's something wrong with your configuration, or drivers, or something else. The games doesn't look like that at all . And I'm only using a geforce2. And this doesn't look like a playstation 1 game to me:

well,i agree with killa a bit.Them trees in the beginning of the game on the xbox looked horrible. They looked like PS1 graphics,i was expecting them to move like in SR2 but they didn't & looked really bad.other then that the game looked damn good.As of yet i haven't seen the PC version but i believe it should be under the tree today:D (YAY):D

If you get in close to any surface in any game it will start to look blurry.
Just because you have a top of the line graphics card doesn't mean most people who play the game will. There are very, very few people who are willing to spend that kind of money for gaming hardware, so it doesn't make sense to develop a game specifically for them.

Man get a life first what u say is wrong why they do Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 then? If u dont like progress then u can stay with your favorite GF2 MX 400 32 MB and play quake 2. or this one to.

Doom 3 and HL2 are guaranteed to sell millions of copies. Defiance for the PC is going to **lose money** - the only reason the publisher released it was because of all the fans who said things like "we've been playing the game on the PC all along, please don't leave us out."
And as for what graphics card I have, I was dumb enough to buy a top of the line model last year. For the same price, I could have had all three of the current consoles.

no, you didn't!!!!! Killa, you took exactly the same screenshots!!! LOL good job.... I bet you tried to take the fighting screenshot hehehehe it's tough though. :D
I'll try to do what you told me, but then again, one goes through the game not facing all the walls, and from the normal distance, the graphics looks greats.
One thing I'll grant you: At the beginning, when kains breaks through a wall (the first time), when he enters a room, there a sarafan, and kains throws him againts those sharp things. The stairs where the sarafan is standing, looks like crap. that is the only thing I've noticed so far. The rest, is simply gorgeous.

What's my own opinion? That the PC version is going to lose money and was released essentially just for the long-time fans (fact), or that you can buy three consoles for the price of one high-end gaming graphics card (also a fact)?
It's debatable whether three consoles or one graphics card is more useful, but given the volume of good console games versus good PC games, I think consoles are the clear choice now.

Protector_Malek what chapter you playing on now? I found that when you play for Kain you get lil better textures but try look closer when u playing as Raziel then u will see what i am talking about.
blincoln i wounder if u ever can play doom 3 or half-life 2 on console? Or can u do anyghing but games on your console? Consoles are time wasters.

I'm on chapter 4, I think I just entered a reaver forge, the first one, where raziel finds the pictures with the two races fighting each other, I'm not sure if it is a reaver forge.
I'll try and do what you said.
Another thing, does some bushes look just LIKE CRAP in that cemetery? those bushes really look like playstation 1's.
blincoln, I have to agree with killa on this one. Consoles are more popular, but IMO, PCs clearly go beyond consoles.
Although I do agree that most people are not willing to buy the most expensive cards. Take me for example.... Next month I think I'll buy an ATI 9500PRO.... the next card in line, 9700PRO, is just WAY TOO expensive. Not to mention the 9800 serie.
9500PRO looks just fine for me, it is very powerfull and fully directX9 hardware support.

I never said he was wrong about that. What I said was that there will never be many PC games that make the expense of owning a high-end system worthwhile. The number of people who own that kind of PC is too small for it to be profitable.
There is currently only one game that really takes advantage of high-end PC hardware, and that is Deus Ex II. Next year, Doom 3 and HL2 will. Is it worth spending $400 for a graphics card to play two or three games with all the graphics options turned on? I guess if you *really* like one of those games, it might be, but I'd rather buy a console or two and a bunch of games that I have more fun playing.
I used to keep my graphics card on the high end, but I realized it was just a scam to weasel as much money out of me as possible.
Protector_Malek

yes, I do agree with that, as you can see in my previous post. For me, as well as for many people, it is not prioritary to buy the latest high tech video card on the market.
Like killa said, you can find far better technology in PC games. But I'm not willing to pay that much money to enjoy the lates tech that only a few games feature, a few rare games (like doom3 and HL2).
HEY, BLINCOLN AND KILLA, MERY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

>>> doom3
halflife 2

Hehe blincoln this Deus Ex 2 is one big beta...
Blincoln And why u started talking abiut high end cards and games like Half-Life 2 and Doom 3? I buy my super fast card just for this games just i use pc for 3 years and was playing games on low, medium quality and i am tired of lagg so i think why not to try best one card so now i pay all games on max graphics and have no lag at all. And i need it not only for DX 9.0 games there is many current games i play to.
Actually this games (Doom 3, Half-Life 2, ...) can be played normally but not on this high settings on video hardware for 150-250 $ with is same as new console price.
ATI RADEON RADEON 9600 XT - 170 $ (Currently medium power ATI card)
ATI RADEON 9700 Pro - 250.00 $

I would just like to say, why the hell are u making a fuzz out of how textures look like in a game? Are you just trying to be nitpicky? If you're so impressed with Doom III and HL2 gfx go play those games, as for me, I enjoy this type of games and the gfx certainly DID it's job pretty well. It's the game that matters most not the gfx. The only thing I didn't like in this game is the camera angles, which makes the game harder than it should have been most of the times. Other than that, the game is AWESOME. Peace!

Doom 3 & Half Life 2 are both coming to X-Box.
There are also things you can do with an Xbox besides play video games.
(I don't own an Xbox btw)
Edit: Engines like Half Life 2/Doom 3 are expensive as heck to develop, and that's why there are only a very limited number of engines of that caliber. I can only think of two to three other engines that are in the same platform as those two. The reason these games can have such amazing engines is because they plan on licensing out the engines for other games. ID Software charges hundreds of thousands to license the engine, and I'm sure the others are similarly priced. A game like LOK: D can't spend millions developing a brand new top of the line engine.

I've been playing PC games for approximately 10 years now and I have witnessed how the games have progressed from 2D to 3D and have had several 3D accelerators starting with a Voodoo 1 up to what I am using now. But this question is really missing the point. The game is awesome (except again, for the camera angles :))... Look at it by what it achieved rather than looking at every pixels the game and your videocard renders.
Anyway, since you're a nitpicker gamer, I suggest you try Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time, which I played on PC as well - great game too.

i think the developers didnt apply detail texturing on LoK: Defiance since that could burden the gfx card a lot, and might delay its release thats why the texture looks a bit blured when you get close to a wall.
the wraith blade emmiting disgusting noise? i dont find it disgusting. try using the soul reaver on Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

The game graphics are Great!!!!
(if you have a great PC system to play it in High resolution like 1600x1200 and everything set to high)
The graphics qualtiy and game stability are always depends of what Graphic card and the drivers u use(Catalysts version or Forceware)
U can also change the Brightness and the contrast of your monitor or the GAMMA (in ATI hardware the Gamma settings is always wrong with most games for a unknown reason)
and as about textures becoming blurry when are zoomed....I disagree....The textures still remains OK....maybe not as sharp as it is ZOOMED OUT but still not bad at all..
These game maybe not have the DOOM3 or Half life 2 graphics but still remains a great game in Graphics
I can agree that the only thing is lacking is a little in the Camera....but even that feauture i find it great and did not caused me any real problem with my experience with these game :)

And i have a 9800pro(OC) with Catalysts 3.10 with a P4 3.00C GHZ and i am not having any problems with the texture graphics or performance with these game...so what?!?!?
Brightness and Contrast does not affect the textures quality directly but the COLORS giving a much more sharper and beautifull image (even in game textures)
The graphics are wayyyyy better with not so high Brightness and with a little higher contrast than usual it also hides the Jaggies or
texture blurryness if your monitor setting are correct set
As about textures not beeing so nice when they are ZOOMED(100% Zoom IN more than normal as you did with these screenshots)...these happens with almost all GAMES and not only with LOK U...It is natural with most 3d games.
