View Full Version : Wwwwwooooowwwww!!!!!
i have just seen return of the king tonight.
it was AMAZING.
i know a lot of people who have read the book that don't like the films, but i also have read the book and think the films are fantastic!
Peter Jackson has done an excellent job in making the unfilmable book into reality, so to speak. but obviously there is only so much you can create into a movie, there is always going to be bits of the book left out.
just thought i let everybody know anyway :D

You mean there are actually scenes that aren't included? Geeze, I thought 3½ hours was plenty of time to show everything. I'm sorry, but those movies take too much time out of my life.

You're right, there are a couple of important scenes and characters (IMO anyway) that weren't included at all. I was quite disappointed that they cut out all of Saruman's scenes. He had actually played quite an important role in the book.

I'm taking the little demonic hellspawn (aka the little brothers) out to see it tomorrow. ;)

Remember to keep their sugar levels low Umah. The last thing you want is little brothers fidgiting in their seats or wizzing round the aisles on a sugar rush. It is a long movie after all.

Eh, sugar isn't their problem. It's the rest of the time. :p
I have just returned from seeing the film and I must say it's very cool. I'm thinking I enjoyed The Two Towers just a bit more, however as a set, the trilogy was magnificent. :)

jesta i think you misheard something. ROTK dvd ee will have 5 hours total inthe movie, not 5 EXTRA hours. Fellowship was about 4 on the EE, TTT was about 3h 40min, but ROTK will have 5 hours.
i loved how the movie ended the last scene with
sam having a family with rossie, instead of someone more obvious like just ending when frodo, bilbo, and gandalf left middle earth with Elrond.
though man, that epilogue was about 40 mins long. it just kept going on! everyone who goes and sees it. after the obvious ending of the ring getting destroyed (spoiler not really needed as its public knowlege, but i should put that there anyway.)m dont expect it to end. and after the next scene, its still not over, then after thjat scene theres still 3 or 4 more parts left. yeash!

that epilogue was about 40 mins long
It was crazy! Some people near me in the cinema said "Bugger this!" about half way through, and just left.

Haha, yeah well, I don't blame them. The ending dragged on for far too long.
I'm hoping that the extended version will show Elladan and Elrohir at some point, and more about Aragorn's journey theough the paths of the dead.

I loved the movie... me and a group of friends went to see it this past Sunday. My favorite one thus far. I have read the books, but I read them when I was in high school, it took me a year to finish the entire trilogy, and I haven't been able to really make a dent in it since. I'm trying to read them again, though :)

I thought it was decent. But it was the worst of the series by far. He made the end so boring, it just dragged on and on. I was staring at my watch for 20 minutes. I can appreiate closure for the LOTR fanatics but closure that takes 30 mins of sheer mind numbing boredom just isn't worth it.
