I know that you all seemed to hate the demo...but your rantings seem to have quitened down, is the full game worthy of the title: sequel to the original DX?

Is it a worthy sequel? I haven't played enough to know, but from what I've seen thus far, it has the potential. I'm having a blast following the interweaving stories.

I think it's great. The demo was like a piece of burnt pepperoni. The full game is a whole pizza.

Better than demo? 100% yes. Better than Deus Ex1? ... not quite.
Worth the buy? I think so.
I'm dissapointed with some parts, impressed with someparts , awed by some parts, and annoyed with some parts. It's a mixed bag with more tastey treats than nasty treats, and overall comes out above most games you see released here lately.

Kinda better. Just don't expect to get any head shots. You can shoot everyone in the head with any gun and they keep coming.

I'm sorry, but that is just not true. Point blank with a shotgun will do it, the sniper rifle will do it, assassin pistol will do it. It can depend on if they are wearing armor, if they are aware of you as a threat, or if they are important to the story. But the bottom line is that headshots are very possible.
I think the game is great. I don't care if it's better than the original or not, it's just different. The replay value is immense, and you are constantly aware of it. All the time I'm thinking: next time I play the game I'll choose that route, or say that thing, or kill that guy... Etc. The freedom is amazing. I'm totally loving it.

"Point blank" :D did not try that but still I have tried and shot them in the head and it's just to funny. They rushed it to fast. For me the best thing is tosing stuff around and at people it just don't get better than that. :D Also knowing you don't have to kill someone to finish the game I really like that.

I would say the full version is ok, perhaps above average. Nothing overly rememberable though. Story wise, the game lacks character relationships. I never really cared about helping someone or not because you almost never form any relationship with anyone. I remember worrying about Alex and Jaime when i left Unatco in DX1. Also, i thought the first DX unfolded the story better. I knew nothing about DX when i first got it so i was suprised when i came across all of the conspiracies but with DX:IW, the game tells you within 5 minutes your company is corrupt and the world is one big conspiracy. I obviously knew there were going to be conspiracies in the game, I just didn't expect the game to be so unneccessarily blunt with it. I loved how in DX1 you did a couple of missions for UNATCO and that way you built a base relationship with the characters. DX:IW is really missing that element. Heck, one of the characters that talks to you the most at the beginning is this excessivly long winded asian lady who i really wanted to kill just so i could shut her up. Some people probably could care less about all of this but for me, it just made the characters seem empty and superficial.
Gameplay: It plays fine (not talking about FPS). Framerate is repulsive. (I played 1024x768 max settings, no bloom, 1xms) probably got 15-40 fps) It was almost always playable but very noticable. The weapons were ok - i changed the damage modifier to 2.25 because the weapons seemed so under powered. This, however, made the game awfully easy. The game seems much more arcadey than the original, part due to the UI, HUD, and font and part due to gameplay.
Levels: Ugh. Small - way too small and loading was way too long. The very first map is only 4 rooms and a hallway. Compare that to liberty island from the first one. The levels are more densely packed but i would trade them up for larger emptier ones like the original. Those gave more freedom and got rid of this claustrophobic feeling. I'm not trying to rag too much on it, but the maps really seem unrealisticly small. Also, i don't recall one working elevator in the entire game. Elevators are simply map load points. This really hurt immersion for me.
Good points: I had fun with the physics engine, and the shadows are great. Has some innovative biomods and i'm glad some of them are passive.
Conclusion: i'll probably keep DX:IW on my hard drive just because i have a 120 GB HD. I won't ever regard this as a classic, but it's not a bad game. Since I can live with DX graphics, i'll probably replay that more in the long run than this. I miss hacking into computers and trying to speed read the email. I miss the 40+ hours of gameplay. I miss the mouse based UI. I miss the ability to look at Conversation logs and to easily find images/notes, and most of all i miss the character relationships.
For me, $30 would have been a fair price.

Hong Kong set me head-over-heels in love with DE1.
DE2 has nothing to make me fall in love with.
Nothing. I just don't get that FEEL.

FuriousNoob is right in many ways, but I would say its a bit better than he portrays it. The character relations IS a weak point, but on the flip side, this makes it much easier to kill people, if that's the type of gameplay you go for:p. Ironically, the 'person' I developed the most attachment to was the NG Resonance holo-sim.
Don't buy DX:IW expecting DX1, because in my opinion, DX1 is unbeatably immersive and just plain can't be topped. However, the sequel is a solidly fun game to play, despite the sometimes shaky programming which I got used to quickly.
P.S. The Inclinator is pretty close to a 'working' elevator, at least it's not a load point.

Well, the only complaint one might make is that Deus Ex 2 is not as long or interactively written as the first Deus Ex. In some areas, such as pilots for hire, it seems some late editing was done (at least I only found Sid and Eva as pilots, perhaps there are others somewhere).
Other than that it's a great game with many new things to do and some very well balanced play. It inherits alot of the good things from Deus Ex also. Gameplay is excellent and the bots have excellent pathfinding ability and situational awareness which keeps the action very frosty. Very hard to outsmart.
Like Deus Ex, Deus Ex IW was released needing a little patching, but is still very playable for most.
In the end, I am very happy with Deus Ex IW. And they are right. There is no correct way or faction to belong to in DX2.... They are all wrong!! (ROFL!!)

In the Mako building main entrance (i didn't go that way but) there is a bot in the long hallway there.
Very easy to outsmart and lose. They do lock on quick and fire, true. But they aren't that hard to lose. Once you are out of site of them. They don't know where you are and go back on patrol. Yes, a little more aware for a few moments. But they are quick and easy to lose. Without using biomods. Heck hiding behind a couple of crates will lose them. Just don't make any noise.
Sorry, but if a bot can't remember I hid behind a couple crates right in front of them and loses intrest in finding me. There is nothing special about the AI.
Same when freeing Eva from the helipad. You open one of the doors to the hallways under the helipad and slip inside, they don't chase you in thier. When they see you on the ramp to the helipad, I would expect them to head all the way around and up the stairs and chase you down. They don't.
It's bad AI.
No one Lives Forever 2 the guys would climb down latters to get at you in some spots. The ninjas would chase you down and kill you if you didn't get out of thier line of site a couple of times and into a dark corner to hide. If you just turn a corner and hide,, they pretty much would find you.
The AI in this game is not that great. I can't believe people think it's so great. Turok 2's AI was better in my opinion. Atleast they would hide behind things and take pot shots at you.
I will do some testing this week and see just how good this AI really is, cause so far, I'm not impressed.
The fact I can stand at someones locker or safe that's not a gaurd but has a gun and open it with them only making a flippant remark while I steal thier *****. hmmm, you tell me. And it is pretty easy to hack stuff with gaurds around and them not do diddly squat. again, you tell me.

Also,
IF you remember correctly in DX1. The little rover bots would chase you down all over the place. Liberty island for example. even turning a corner they would atleast turn the corner and look for you. You really had to turn a couple corners. They would go a long way to find you. Not in this game. They don't go out of thier way to chase you down and they are built like they are supposed to. They just lose interest REAL easy.
In Hitman if the NPC's saw you doing something wrong they would head out to get a gaurd or something.
Thief 1&2's AI was better as well. If they had a beed on you, you weren't getting away easily.
There are a lot more games out thier with WAY better AI than this one.
Actualy, the gaurds AI is pretty good in the game. They will chase you down. You really do have to lose them in vents. So, I will give it that. Although I have lost them going up stairs.

After the patch... I have no technical problems... it is one of the best looking games ever. I really enjoyed it. I was very angry at the bugs at first... but, now that they have patched it... I would call it the game of the year... but not quite Deus Ex 1.
