Choppy video playback (.biks)

For some reason all the videos are extremely choppy. Even the simple Eidos into at the beginning. The first cinematic was completely unwatchable, so I exited out and watched it seperately from the game (by simply double-clicking on the .bik in explorer) and the playback was flawless. It was perfect.

Any ideas?
