On certain save games, my cd-rom has spun down before the level loading progress indicator even begins. I can alt-tab out to windows and my mouse pointer graphic shows the spinning cd, but nothing is happening -- my drive is down and I can't even open the tray. I used task manager to find the culprit and noticed that deus ex: IW didn't even list as an open application. Under processes I noticed that Ion_launcher.exe was running and could not be shut down.
Eventually I have to cut all power to my system and reboot to recover. I thought it might be a corrupt save file (it may still be, but it is repeatable) so I deleted all my saves and started from scratch. After about an hour and a half of gameplay the proplem persists.
I guess it's time to shelve the game until a patch is released, :( . Too bad, considering I've been waiting for this game since Jesus Christ walked the Earth a second time.
What about getting a quick save/quick load option for the pc in a patch? I can't believe the game doesn't have this anyway -- makes me think the game was made for the xbox then ported to the PC.
