Okay so this game will obviously not run on my pc. It runs on my server .. but has Major problems too. Don't even start on me about updating my components and drivers, do that and I will slap you.
1st off, I don't pay 50 dollars for a program or game expecting it to crashes out of the box, or I need to spend hours updating drivers, configuring the game etc. It should play great with no thought at all.
2 we as PC gamers must not stand for this. We can't let publishers get away with releasing unfinished products, charging us for it, then expect us to wait for a patch. It's just wrong.
3rd with all these sugarcoated reviews nowadays, it seems I'm reading more reviews trying to find some truth then I am playing games.
So Ion Storm, you and Epic now share something in common. What you've done is exactly what they did when they released UT2003.
That said, my bro has the XBOX version of DX2:IW, I played it and I'm impressed.

1st off, if you own a PC and intend on playing modern games with it, you had better spend some time making sure your drivers are updated. Things change. If you think you can continue to run the same hardware and drivers for the next ten years, you are living in a dream world. Stop smoking that crack rock and come back to the real world.
2nd, while I do agree that the PC game industry is developing a regrettable tendency to release buggy product and depend on patching it later to fix problems, I really don't think that is the case here. It works fine on a lot of systems. The things they need a patch for is added functionality, like the quick save/quick load that has been mentioned, or tweaking things. Most of the crash/failing to run problems seem to be unsupported hardware, old drivers, or conflicts.

Chris has posted on the IS forums saying a patch is in the works.

Dude, my specs would probably crush yours. I've got a new high perfromance Alienware Area-51 system, it's got all the newest drivers. My system is fly, vapor cooled and everything.
One of my other pcs can run deus ex 2.. and that's a piece of crap.
It's the game, not my rig.
And no .. many people are having problems, try looking on other deus ex forums.

Cool thanks, that's all I wanted to know. I've been waiting to play this game a while now.
*sigh* This sucks :\

Hardware superiority doesn't necessarily mean you have the latest drivers. My Radeon 9800 XT came with Catalyst 3.7s on its packaged disk (latest is 3.9). This is just an example, and upgrading from Catalyst 3.7s to 3.9s doesn't actually boost performance in any way.

Thanks for letting us know Catman:) , can you link it too next time please, took me 10 minutes to find it.
I'd like to say thank you to Ion Storm for actually listening to our concerns, it seems you actually do care about your (PC) fanbase when we all thought you were just a bunch of money hungary lowlives (I too I reluctantly admit...).
If the patch fixes the majority of the things that I was concerned with, then I may just buy this game as soon as the patch is released (I was initially anticipating it for...ever;) ) as will a lot of other PC owners I expect.
Some people I've seen in the IS forums have been taking apart what Spector said on ign.com. Well when its your pride and joy thats being ridiculed then you can expect him to be a little upset by what people say (no excuse I know, but we are all human...I think...).
Anyways IS, hope to see a FAQ indicating what the patch will address soon, and in any rate I'll own IW war before christmas like I had originally expected:D . Please DON'T make that an incentive to rush it though, I'd rather see it polished off this time round.
Again, thanks,
Hwarang.
