X-Box owners comments.

I would like this thread to be the place of X-Box owners who plan or planned on buying DX:IW for it.

Please comment whether you're going to buy it, have already bought it or will not do it (at least for now).

Also comment whether you have played the original DX.

Also, if you have bought the game, how do you find it? Both technically and artistically?

I realise that this is a PC-mostly forum, so replies will not be many, but any comments or experience sharing is welcome.

I am an Xbox owner and I am going to buy it on the PC so I can download patches, do stuff, and play the game before februrary 2004. I played deus ex 1. I liked it, but I don't think it's as amazing as some of the other people on this forum do. Dungeon Master was better in it's day, as was Fallout. ;) To me, deus ex was always something just a little different, and it was really good, but It wouldn't even get close to my top 20 games list.

I went out on my lunch break yesterday and got it.

I'm a recent comer to the Xbox scene, I've only had mine for a few months; I got it so I could play Ghost Recon online with my brother. After hearing him rave on & on about KOTOR, I asked him what other similar/RPG games were out there that weren't Star Wars or Final Fantasy based.

He said: Deus Ex. And wait for the new one.

I have to say I'm massively impressed. The graphics are great, and the open-ended nature of the game really appeals to me. I played for about 5 hours last night and have only just reached the Order's Church in Lower Seattle.

Sound is wonderful, and I don't have any problems with the AI. If some NPC's are smart and some are stupide, well, doesn't that reflect real life? Get on a city bus and tell me how many stupid people you see.

I love the idea of the biomods, especially the black market ones that let you do some really crazy stuff. The Omar are pretty freaky looking, too, kind of remind me looks-wise of those blue creatures in the Star Wars franchise - but they sound like Leia in her bounty hunter outfit from ROTJ.

My only gripe would be the load times, and having to load so often. Doing the "assassination quest" for the club owner required a lot of loading going between the mall, Emerald, and the club. It slows things down to have to do that much back & forth loading, but I guess I can understand the need for it - everything is so detailed & so interactive that it must take a huge amount of data for each level.

Anyway.

So - color me impressed. For my first foray into RPG's, DE:IW was *definitely* the way to go. It helps that I'm not particularly good at games, so where other people might win a game like this in 15-20 hours, it'll probably take me 40 or more to reach the end.

Hello everyone,
finally a thread for Xbox owners, it got to the point were I did not want to visit this forum anymore because of the constant complaining and how Xbox bought the game to a lower level. I was actually looking for another forum but I figured this would be the best place to get good game hints because its posted on the website and also alot of people here have played the 1st game. ** just needed to vent ***

I have been looking forward to playing this game for awhile. I never played the 1st because I never got into PC gaming but I have heard good things about it. I like the way the game looks and sounds. Its not the best looking game on the Box maybe alittle better than KOTOR and by far not the worse. I pretty much
have to agree with Chiba about the loading and length of the game. I have only completed the Tarsus section and I must say I am having fun. I can't wait to play tonight.

I wont buy this game until I have a new TV, so I am PC gaming right now, and playing Xbox Sports games and Crimson Skies online. Is the Xbox version patchable?? I might replay the first game. If anyone has not played the first game yet the GOTY version is like 9 bucks now and whatever PC you are typeing on might be able to run it. Great game.

I will get the game for the XBOX too... I love my xbox! I have a kick ass pc (5,000), but fear that the bugs (as all the other users have) will affect me also...so I plan on playing it on the bug free xbox!

Ths will not apply to most players, but i always play 1st person shooters goofy handed. Meaning that I like to look around with the left josytick, and move and strafe with the right joystick, the XBOX version does not allow you to configure this game to play like that. Eidos, seriously, how hard would it have been to add this little feature to your game?!?! I am extremely upset with this as this shows a whole new level of laziness from your programmers! Good job on ruining the only game I've been excited to play in the past year!

I am an Xbox Owner, and owner of the game. I find it very fun and very much like the first one. I find it very hard to. Once ingaged in battle, chances are slim that you will live. I find it very big as well with plenty to do, wich is a good thing. I think its fine, a great game. It is a little laggy on the xbox. everything is ok unless I turn sharply. I can only stand to play an hour at a time, for it hurts my eyes. the weapons are not much better from the first DX. I miss the crossbow, bt find the bolt caster rewarding as well. The Pistol, Rifle, and Bolt Caster are the only guns worth while. the shotgun and SMG, chuck them. They use way to much of your "magic" ammo and dont do any more damage than your pistol. I have stated this alot in other threads. It all comes down to one thing:

They just wont die + you do = not fair.

The AI is incredible. The bots are smarter than the humans though, hehe. I do find it strange that the spiderbots are enemies nomatter where I go. you see them in vent shafts everywhere. Even when I was in the order church (a safe place where I was welcome) I go down stairs only to be engaged in combat against to mini spiderbots. I dont get it.... Anyway. I give the game an A. I will play it on the PC soon (as a friend of mine will be getting it) and find out a little more about both.

I own it! Got it the first day out! I played the original DX... and beat it multiple times. artistically its quite impressive i think.ill say it has to be due to the loading times though((quality takes time).: Too many... its not that bad though but its nothing like halo load times unfortunately... it seems about 10-15 seconds...sometimes its like ...LOAD... walk to another location in about 10-20 seconds or less ...LOAD(wait some more)... that kinda sucks. But even so those same areas im running through in seconds some you can spend plenty of time in. I have also experienced once the what seems to be(THE XBOX GREEN SCREEN OF DEATH)in the middle of gameplay i got( UNABLE TO REOGNIZE DISC!!!PLEASE INSERT AN XBOX DISC!!!) What a bunch of crap! Had to restart game and start from last save! This i would expect on pc but should never happen on a console! Its a brand new cd and the dvd lens was just cleaned! Gripes aside I think the game is solid! If you thought Deus Ex was open ended or any game for that matter... theres lots to do. Lots of fun!

I bought an X-box just for this game. Call me an idiot, a dumbass, or whatever (i belive you people call it "flaming"), but the first Deus Ex is my all time favorite game, and being that my computer can barely run it now, theres no chance at running IW. Unfourtunalty i dont have the cash to buy a computer to handle it, but thankfully its on a nice $180 dollar X-box. "dumbed down" gameplay or not, this is one happy gamer thanks to the decision to make this for the box.

Cleaned the DVD lens? how do you clean your xbox lens? I want do do that. I wnat to do as much for my xbox as I can. I have noticed ALOT of noise comming from my box while palying. Mainly when loading, and in conversation. And sometimes it freeses when loading the voice for a conversation. I wish I could upgrade my box to a faster cdROM. 50+X or whatever.

First a dvd lens cleaner is on a normal dvd! (its some cleaning bristles or something that sticks out of a dvd) so you have to own the dvd playback kit or it will not read or play any dvds... so get the playback kit and a dvd cleaner inesert cleaner and select the cleaning cycle

My dad knew I wanted DeusExIW and he got it for me. I really am enjoying the game, even though, even on a xbox, the fps is low,You'll get use to it and it will go away later in some levels. Nothing bothers me about the game, And there is ammo, you can lose it, only thing is, they are all the same clips! Im having fun sneaking around. I just killed a guard and took his SMG, wow, that was really fun. The thugs are stupid, but funny, lol, for example I was entering this area, this guy said ''I want money to buy me a present for my momma, I want it!'' then another thug said ''Chill man, let em go.'' then other one says ''Ok, you better leave''
I obviously stood there and shot one in the head, and they say yo man thats not cool then they start fireing, then an AeroBot comes and shoots his miniguns at them. Leaving me to just whatch and enjoy. After that, they had some clips and a boltcaster for me, I took it along with a multitool. I left and entered this place forgot its name, and thats were I really used stealth, I went through shafts and it was really intresting. I admit it, its really a good stealth-action game, cya!
