Ahhhhh, I had just readed the Dark chronicles for Defiance and I have this question :

IS RAZIEL SACRIFICE HIMSELF !?!?!?!?!?!?!?

OH NOOooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes

Why the "oh no"? They basically said flat out that this would happen one way or another in SR2.

Even the biggest Raziel fans knew it would have to happen eventually, though they would deny it to themselves.
I'm glad that he entered the reaver of his own will. We don't really know what this new Spirit Soul Reaver is capable of, perhaps Raziel is now quite sane and self-aware inside? Perhaps even capable of outside communication? Maybe Kain can now enter Spectral?

You're right he does. And it's a good thing, too, otherwise I'd be on an anti-Raziel crusade right now. :p

I cried, even though I don't cry I did. I am woman enough to say I had a major case of eye-leaking. :p

But that was just the first time.

After replaying it, and understanding it more, I can appreciate what happened. Raziel was enlightened by the Spirit Reaver, just as Kain was and Moebius was. He struggled to understand when the Spirit Reaver was first forged, but he realized, with time, what had to be done. And he did it with Free Will.
And that is the beauty of it all: the ONE BEING that truly had Free Will conciously exercised that will, & sacrificed himself to heal the Scion of Balance and start the purifying of the World.
Their roles were reversed. Raziel - not Kain - had to sacrifice himself to save the world, or live & damn it (the Hylden enter the world via the rift between dimensions due to the fatal paradox at the end of SR2, because of Kain sparing Raziel from entering the Reaver). Kain - not Raziel - is the prophecized Messiah, the Scion of Balance who must wield the Reaver - which was forged for he, and he alone - to heal the world of corruption.
Together, they are both Messiahs, if you think about it.
It's amazing how all we thought and theorized for so long was blown away like grains of sand in the wind.

Now that, my friends, is good writing.

Raziel does say "I would chose integrity" at the end of SR1 in the original dialog that wan't changed for SR2. He spicifically said that given the choice, he would sacrifice himself to save the world.

;) I guess he is nothing if not the only fully honest person left in nosgoth. mabe theres hope for kain now

by the way, what if kain could mentally hear and talk to Raziel now like Cortana and Master Cheif in Halo?:D

Can't imagine how anyone would think Roxy is a guy's name. And I pity the guy who's name it is.

But one thing...Why in the hell would Kain now be able to go spectral? People keep talking about it and it makes no sense. As if only for the sake of maintaining use of the effect. Because it would make no sense. Is Kain going to now become a wraith? And just go abandoning his physical body all the time? Kain is a VAMPIRE, not a soul swallowing demon. He does not do these things. I mean how would Kain even power up in the spectral realm? Suck blood from sluagh? And of course he will take the Soul Reaver with him!

Well taking the Reaver with him will be a bit hard, because both Raziel and the wraithblade are trapped into the corporeal shell a.k.a. they can't be used in the spectral, because material things don't go to the spectral realm and bseides that... why should Kain be able to do that? He's not Raziel, maybe in the next game their souls combine or something like that but so far it isn't such a good theory... :)

Just supporting you Morcilla... It just wouldn't make any sense...

OK so now that

Kain has the Soul Reaver with Raziel's soul inside

for the next game, we may not actually play Blue Boy, but how's this sound:

Because Kain and Raziel have TK abilities - well, Raziel HAD, anyway - maybe something will be incorporated where Kain needs to find the other parts of the Balance emblem (Mind, Death, and the like). The first one Kain finds is Mind, and this enhances the Soul Reaver with the ability for Raziel to communicate with Kain telepathically.

For my next part of this, if you remember that in Soul Reaver 2, near the end when Raziel had the physical Reaver, whenever he killed an enemy, the blood entered the Reaver and this blue ball kinda floated into the sky, which was (I'm not 100% sure but it sure seems like it) the soul of the person.

Anyway, whenever Kain defeats a boss, the soul travels into the Soul Reaver as Kain drinks the boss's blood (maybe gaining new abilities?), where Raziel...ahem...interrogates the soul of the boss. Who knows, maybe that can be a boss battle itself. Wouldn't that be lovely, having to fight the same boss twice in a row? I guess the Soul Reaver, although having physical dimensions, because of the vampyric powers on it, could have a Spectral Realm-esque inside.

*shrugs*

Oh, one last thing. I've been listening to the opening to LoKD for a full 12 hours nonstop...I can't get enough of it! :o

Bwahaha. Every time someone pokes fun at me for crying over Janos in Soul Reaver 2, I can now point to Roxy and say, "Hey, Roxy is tough, and she cried too! There's no shame!" :p

Raziel was ignorant at that time, and did not understand that if Kain had sacrificed himself, it would have been playing into the hands of the Hylden and the Elder God.

Besides, I think the beginning of Raziel's part of Defiance proves that he was just as "selfish" as Kain was in his refusal to leave the Spectral realm; Recall that the Elder God said something along the lines of being able to read into the depths of Raziel's soul and seeing that deep down, Raziel did not want to leave for fear of the future imprisonment that awaited him inside the Reaver.

:o the wraithe blade that raziel caried on his arm is not in the physical Reaver. I really don't know what happens to it now, but only Raziel himself went into the Reaver to create the wraithe blade in the first place. If it happened the way you suggest, then there would be an infinate number of wraithe blade/ Raziel souls compounding though each loop of time to infinity.

odds are the wraith blade/raziel's future soul is just release to oblivion-heaven-hell-what ever

You can add me to the list. I got water in my eyes after a certain scene in Avernus. :D
