Hello,

I am still having general protection fault problems as mentioned on another thread (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26792) but have managed to play around them -- 2 - 5 minutes then game crashes to desktop, restard and load.

However, the game is now crashing when I click the load button, meaning that I cannot access my saved games (NYC post Hong Kong worth *grumble*). I am guessing that this means that a reinstall is necesary.

If I reinstall, will I have any problems accessing these saves on the new installation? Do you suggest that I take the option "Reinstall" or "Uninstall" and start from scratch?

This has happened before (half way through training, so it didn't matter so much) and it ruined my training saves.

I think I will throw this computer to the lions.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

With many games (including Deus Ex), when you uninstall, the saved games folder is preserved. However, to be on the safe side, you should make a copy of this folder elsewhere before you uninstall.

After you reinstall, check to see if the saved games work. If not, copy the copy over to the appropriate directory.

Note that some of your more recent saved games may be corrupt because of the error you've been experiencing. Hopefullly not, but if so, you might have to resort to replaying a level or two.

Thanks.

After reinstalling, it turns out that I didn't need to so. Former save was corrupted and was causing the crash.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the free clinic. Rushed in there for respite from gunfire and found the place almost empty.

Oh well, have installed from the hard drive this time rather than using the scratched CD. Might work better this time.

Thanks again.
