View Full Version : Pacifist Play - Who MUST I kill?

I'm trying to play the game as a pacifist. So far, on realistic the only things I have had to kill were the dogs (I tried stunning them but it wasn't happening).

I've made it to the airfield without too much of a problem, but I know that at some point I have to kill Lebdev (sic?), Navarre, Gunther and I think possibly Simmons. Can I get around this in any way? Can they be tranqed or shock prodded out of action? Or should I just assume I have to waste them and use one of the hundreds of bits of ammo I have managed to collect?

Thanks in advance!

p.s. Am I going to have any trouble with the MIBs or other later enemies? I only use the shock prod, baton, tranq darts and gas grenades.

I found that I could not get around killing Karkians, dogs, etc.

Technically, you do not have to kill anyone. This is possible by:

-Severely wounding Simons & Gunther, then using a baton to knock them unconscious
-Making all sorts of noise during the Anna battle at UNATCO so that a trooper runs downstairs and unlooks the door (after which you must run like hell out of htere)
-Exploding a gas grenade close to the door or other places at the UNATCO fight so that the trooper is affected and unlocks the door (after which you must run like hell out of there)

The Anna part is extremely risky, so save before you fight her. It all hinges on that troop. By the way, you do not have to kill Lebedev; just prod him or knock him unconscious. Lastly, be sure to pick up the Combat Strength aug and upgrade low-tech weapons skill as far as possible. With a high level low-tech skill and advanced combat-strength aug, most enemies can safely be taken out with a baton. I found this useful, as tranq darts run out quickly.

AHhh.... I have used microfibral muscle. Is there any way to get combat strength now? Or will I need to go back to an earlier save?

You actually don't have to even engage Simons or Gunther, you can just run away from them. In the final confrontaton with Gunther, you can just lure him into another room, then sneak by him, and complete the mission. And as for Simons, just run away. I always thought that you absolutely had to kill Anna, but I guess you could do what ZeaLity said.

[EDIT]And you can upgrade your melee skills, with your skill points to improve combat strength.

Excellent. I've always played a walking armory before and this is proving to be most interesting. I've pretty much run out of ammo now though so I'm stuck with my baton!

Hold on though? Isn't there that guy inside the missile silo? You do have to kill him, don't you?

Can't seem to get the trooper to come down the stairs. Hit the wall with a rocket launcher and all sorts.

Woohoo... It took some doing, but I managed to whip the computer guy all the way up the stairs and to the door in question. Then I had to try and keep him there whilst I blocked him in. Once I had blocked him in he opened the door; which I forced to stay open with plant pots etc while I went back for Miguel.

Superb. :P

p.s. Has anyone else managed to do it this way? I haven't seen it mentioned yet (It's overkill I know, but it worked!).

Hmmm.... would it be possible to force Anna into running? I managed to get rid of Simons in Area 51 by blowing his leg off; would the same approach work on her? And in running, would she open the door?

Wow... this is a seriously old thread been dragged up. :)

It is possible to get Navarra to open the door, but again you need to pen her in. Plus, she's very, very quick so it's harder than using the computer guy to do it.

With a strategically placed LAM, it's possible to injure Anna's right arm, and after that, she run around spouting threats, but she's harmless. As for opening the door, all you need do is make a lot of noise, and Scott will come down from the security check point and open the door.

I never could get that to work (Getting the security guy down). Even with tons of LAMs and a rocket launcher. hehe

I see then that you won't play the bob page ending. (since you have to kill him.)

I always thought you had to kill Anna, Guther, Simons, JoJo, Page (if you played that ending), the guy in the missle silo, and a couple other ppl.

Interesting.

Nope. Everyone can be knocked out, chased off or avoided, though I have yet to take care of Anna in a non-lethal way {I'll probably reach that point tomorrow}. Last time, my bodycount was two; Anna was the first, and I accidentally gassed an MJ12 trooper in HK helibase.

Okay, how much noise do I need to make, exactly? I've dealt with Anna {locked her in an office and piled chairs at the doorway}, but I've shot GEP rounds, LAMs, pistol fire and crossbow darts at the exit, and nobody comes.

What kind of cacophony do I need to make to draw Scotty down? Put on country music?

EDIT: Also, Alex simply refuses to open that door. He just runs and runs and runs {I've got him penned in}, but nothing.
