View Full Version : [SPOILERS] Suggestions for the next game
Kain The Ancient
11-15-2003, 12:21 PM
Well , I just finished the game and is really happy with it. And since this board is lucky to be checked by the developpers , I figured it would be a good idea for us to give suggestion for the next game about what the fans loved , hated and would like to see in the next game.
My suggestions:
Keep the same graphic engine , but optimise it. It looked great!
Keep up the super story and storytelling.
Take you time. I don't care if you wait like 4 years to announce the game and do so when the game is 95% done.
Bring a few classic tunes back , but create more new music. The music was great , but it lacked new tunes.
Return to an open-ended gameworld like in SR1. Make sure it is multi-connected , allowing you to go from place to place with ease. The Chapter based gameplay was great because the game had two characters , but it kinda takes away from the feel of exploring the world.
Time travel is great , but if possible it would be great to keep repeat locations to a minimum (unless there's a good reason like to show a huge change in the pillars or something). Especially not two times in a row like the pillars in Defiance.
The saraphan stronghold levels for Kain are possibly the best paced , coolest levels ever featured in a LOK game , and the level design is magnificient. If you can make a few castles as cool as that in the next game , I would be the happyest gamer ever.
There are a few instances in Defiance where you see some path on the side of the road , and it is unnacessible because of an invisible wall. I know it is put there so it looks better than a bland rock corridor , but if it is at an height where you should be able to reach , make it reachable.
Give an option to choose the camera (Cinematic/Manual).
Hire more beta testers , give them more time to test the product and pay them more (Hehe). I found at least 40 minor bugs and I didn't even try , so somebody that is supposed to be humping every walls and jumping in every crevasse should find much more.
Expand the combat XP , giving you the choice to purchase the ability you want with the XP.
Telekinesis kicks butt. Keep it as cool as it is now , and add even more spikes/torches/water pits.
It would be great to have a few vampires to kill.
Keep the old reaver enhancements (Elemental imbue and stuff) , but make them even more different (different combat stances maybe).
Make the Reaver even more powerfull.
Make sure the pacing is frantic , and that the exterior location are not as confusing.
Keep the health and tk meters and their respective upgrades , but add a magic meter for the spell and magic enhancing items.
Add secret dungeons with secret skills , and many hard to reach places with secrets.
And here are a few spoiler ones:
Concentrate on only one character (Kain) and give him an even more impressive set of moves/unlockable abilities. Having two characters was great , but it is a little confusing and tends to make you relearn how to fight.
Put alot of Bat Beacons , allowing you to return wherever you want and making backtracking less of a chore.
Try to bring most of Kain's core abilities in a form or another.I would kill for a Skill Ring with most core BO1 spells.
Try to keep the new reaver enhancements at a minimum , and concentrate on upgrades for Kain instead (Swimming , Teleportation , ...)
Explain a few of the more obscure plot points , and show Kain's seeking the edge of the coin (how he's going to restore Nosgoth has not been talked about in Defiance).
Make the Hylden more scarce and more badass. Having them as regular enemies that are easyly dispatched does not make them feel really powerfull.
Make the core features of locations from past games geographically and artistically similar, especially if you visit them at the same era as in a previous game. The saraphan stronghold and Vorador's mansion were perfect (The entrance to Vorador's mansion is different , but I imagine that's because it's a back door , not the front door directly in the swamps) , but the pillars and Kain's mausoleum changed quite a bit. I can endure Kain's mausoleum because it's it first 3d rendering and it looks much better that in did in BO1 (It was just a generic dungeon) , but it's strange that the gigantic door leading to the pillars has vanished ( I can deal with new paths on the sides , but not having the door is kinda strange).

Anyone has any suggestions to add ?

if you haven't beaten the game, don't read below
i think a given would be to explore what the heck happens with the EG. i think it's made clear that he didn't kill the EG at the end and so i'm strongly guessing that's a big point in teh next one.
i will say so that the latter half of Defiance really turned my view on Kain. i used to really not like him and stuff (ESPECIALLY after BO2) but Defiance really showed him off nicely. i like how he was saying Raziel wasn't his enemy, and how he was trying to help Raziel (since Raziel is obviously my favorite).
oooo and on another tangeant, i don't think the hylden should necessarily be Kain's enemy like some may think. the EG is after the Hylden too, so Kain and them might need to form an alliance to kill the EG. that's my guess on how they plan to do it. Kain in ALLIANCE with someone? oh boy... ;)
of course i must add that i would like to see Raziel back, but i don't know if that's possible. what would be *GREAT* for a future game (and probably NOT the next one) would be a game that combines two things i'd REALLY like to see. killing vampires ala SR1 was really fun. so you could combine that with being Raziel (somethign else i like!) and viola you are Sarafan Raziel. you would follow Raziel on most of his life as a Sarafan warrior, and it could end whenever, doesn't have to be when he dies. if he did obviously you'd have to lose to the mysterious blue creature...

I have a few things to add, and to detract from the previous list.
I agree on not announcing the game until it's nearly done - I get antsy when I find out about a great game and won't be playing it for nearly a year...I was on board when SR1 was being delayed over and over, showing up at the store ever other week - that was a hard year.
I don't need a lot of new music. One of my biggest gripes was that the original SR1 music wasn't in it anywhere - you know, "Raziel's theme" as I like to call it (the song from the opening and when he confronts Kain in the pillar throne room) - I'm a HUGE soundtrack buff, and to not use that key piece of music in every installment is like making a Star Trek movie, but not using the theme song. It leaves a big hole. New music is great, but don't loose the classic music that ties it all together.
I don't mind the repeat locations because - well, it's is one world with finite places to go. Unless you jump times, how are things going to change? I like consistancy. The sarafan stronghold was a delight because the main room was much like the one from SR2, more like it than I had hoped. And in SR1 when you come across the fallen skull from Nupraptor's keep? Loved it. Detail is key.
Invisible walls are bad. Less of those would be good. Not that the whole game had a lot of that problem - just parts.
If you change something (like Raziel being able to climb walls in the spectral relm when before he could not) make sure it's very clear. I wasted some time not realzing I could do that - well, because you could not in previous games.
You couldn't really have more vampires to kill because, well, at that point in time there were only 2 living vampires. And Kain wouldn't want to kill Vorador. So only add vampires if appropriate for story purposes.
I don't really see the need to add magic/spells to Kain - it's not his thing. Only Janos really messes with it anymore. No need to overcomplicate an already good system.
I really enjoyed having two characters. And it's not like their moves were all that different (Kain had faster dodges and better TK). I would like their combo's to flow together a bit more (like Devil May Cry).
This is more of a humorous point for me. Kain only teleports when the player doesn't control him? Like at the end of the game, he TP's up from the pit? All I know is that I leaned over to my friend and said "Man, I would have killed to be able to do that 'in game' " ;)
Just my 2 cents,
Raziel02

EDIT: Heh, actually made a topic out of this on accident. I meant to post it here. Sorry :)
Add more variety to combat, different combo possibilities, etc. I actually think it'd be better to replace the throw up into the air attack with just a strong attack, because air combos are kinda rediculous in such a serious game.
Kain needs over the top violent spells/items like from BO1. Just imagine, the glory of all the mutilation in 3D!
Exploration. Make it like BO, maybe. Where there are save points and a kind of linear path but you can go back all the time and stuff. But, I think an SR-style thing would be better, starting from one location every time (Could be the pillars?) and exploring, Zelda-style.
Challenge. Defiance was WAY too easy.
More, and more creative puzzles. I like puzzles. They make me feel good to complete, but the LoK style puzzles are getting a little stale. Hence, try to have puzzles that are a little more.. interesting, I guess. Like in Zelda games.
LONGER. MAKE IT LONGER! SR2 and Defiance were way too short. We need at least 20 hours of gameplay.
I think that's all I have... I feel kinda bossy, telling the developers what to do... Don't get me wrong, I loved Defiance :)

I'd kinda like to see another character taking the lead.
Maybe Janos fighting back from where he was left in BO2.
or maybe play as vorador and play out the details of his resurection after BO.
Raz and Kain aren't the only "heros" in Nosgoth...
Kain's Legacy
11-18-2003, 12:36 AM
I'm with you all on most of the those ideas.
I think the next Legacy of Kain game should focus on Kain once again. The graphics were perfect and the best seen in the Legacy of Kain series thus far.
Though I enjoyed the combat system,I think it does need to be worked on a little bit.I enjoyed using multiple other weapons like in Soul Reaver and Blood Omen 2,maybe in the next game aside from the Soul Reaver,Kain (who I think should be the playable character) should maybe able to use various weapons and perform different types of unique kills,it'll help keep the combat fresh and entertaining.Though I liked the new combat system,I do have to admit it got a little tedious and boring after a while.
As for the sound, yes, please bring in some new tunes, but keep some of the familiar old ones like Ozar Mishram (sp?),or as I now like to call "The Legacy of Kain" theme. As usual, try to get the entire voice cast back! The LoK voice cast is perhaps the best ever assembled in any video game series.
Expand on the Telekinesis if it is brought into the new game, maybe Kain could choke enemies?Or choke them in midair and toss them around into things? (like Star Wars Jedi Knight series)Or perhaps even able to use TK and throw a weapon or the Soul Reaver through the enemy as he is caught with TK.
Please...please...limit the different Soul Reaver forges. It seems to me like a good portion of Defiance was devoted to getting different types of Reavers. In the next game I'd like to see less of that and if any special Reavers are given, maybe make it storyline based instead of having to run all over the place and solve puzzles (don't get me wrong here though,I love LoK puzzles).I think Defiance was a little too Reaver type-happy.Maybe in the next game limit forges to 2 or 3?Or have variations of the Reaver given to Kain during cutscenes.
Back on the TK thing, maybe Kain can toss the Soul Reaver around and it can fight on its own while Kain claws away at enemies? That would be cool...it could be a spell or something.I like the idea of adding an additional magic meter. Also, for different types of Reavers,I like that different spells are cast for each pertaining to its elements.
Maybe have Kain with different types of armor?Or instead he starts 'evolving' throughout?Gaining more power and different abilities such as hovering, flight, greater TK,greater magic, etc.
Explain how Vorador is alive in BO2 please,as well as Janos Audron.Wasn't he dead by the time Kain was sired as a vampire by Mortanius? And even this game (BO2) was set 400 years or so after Kain started conquering Nosgoth. Was Janos freed some Hash's possession?Hmm...
I like the idea of being able to explore and have a more 'open-ended' game like Soul Reaver and even Blood Omen, that way Kain can travel back to previous places whenever I want instead of following a more linear path.Perhaps use Kain's bat power as a quick way to travel from certain locations on the map.I loved how in Blood Omen,Kain traveled through practically the entire world of Nosgoth,it felt really 'epic' and 'adventurous' in that sense.
Expand a little more on the enemies and make some more unique designs of the same generic enemies. The Sarafan I can understand wearing similar outfits, but vampire hunters and such I think may have all their own unique styles.Give us other enemies again like Hylden,Vampires, etc.
The level designs are terrific, but perhaps stop repeating locations and such, keep the designs unique, new and fresh instead of having to go back to the same places all the time.
Spoiler Stuff:
Maybe have Kain go to the Hylden world through the use of the Pillars and finally confront some of his enemies there.Of course,Hash'ak'gik is still out there inside the body of Janos...so he'll have a major role as well. But perhaps introduce some other important characters that may be tied with Nosgoth's past.Maybe some of the other former Guardians that managed to survive because of the time paradox that had been created as Raziel and Kain traveled through time.Maybe also reveal who the Hylden 'savior' is supposed to be,Kain's supposed arch-rival.Perhaps even have Kain go through a metamorphosis where he becomes blue-skinned (I'd prefer he not go blue-skinned tho') and grows wings, starting to resemble the vampire savior that was depicted in the murals, maybe even then give him the option to fly as well so combat would be taken to a new level when Kain grows wings.Another idea is that perhaps Kain could go back further in time to when the Vampire/Hylden War first was in order to achieve this evolution.
I really hope the next Kain game is on a huge, epic scale, much like Blood Omen seemed to be.You were going through all these towns and such and then there were the 'dungeon' type stages that were crucial.I liked that formula and I felt like I was really achieving something. Also, put more into the game and overall playtime...the more play the better.Maybe also add some things to give it some more replayability.
Perhaps limit or put bonus material on a whole over disc, save room on the main game disc for the entire game, pound everything you can in there and add in another disc that could hold all the bonus material and chronicle of Nosgoth.
I truly want to see another epic 'Legacy' game on a HUGE level.

I like everyones ideas so far. It defiantly need to be bigger. A Zelda-esk style would be the best... more like Blood Omen. Be able to explore the entire world whenever needed or desired. Longer... at least 20+ hours of gameplay. And on a much grander scale. I would kill to see Kain go way back to the ancient vamp/hylden war or to the hylden realm. It would give players some new scenery. Other than that, just build on the Defiance engine. I loved Defiance... but it was too short.

WE NEED...
-we need the open world of SR1,
-the time travel of SR2, the combat of defiance,
-unlockables harder to get than in defiance, these were too easy to attain. thus this game offered nearly no replay value except for the great story.
-non-identicle enemies(as in plenty of variety)
-a memory of raziel on kain's part, dont just forget bout him.
-music old and new
-you guys had a great memory engine in SR1 (you could throw a spear into a wall, come back to it the next the day and it would still be there), keep that
-kill the static camera, it sucks
-kill invisible walls
-allow kain plenty of trips to the demon dimension
-though kain has the reaver, allow kain to use multiplw weapons, possibly the reaver and another weapon simultaneously
thats it

hash'ak'gik was turel, not the person who controlled him. the guardians all worshipped the Elder so they would boring and Kain prophosied adversary was Raziel, hence the flaming sword that looked like the wraith-blade, and he got flaming eyes in the cathedral scene as the hylden fueled his rage.

I like Janos, but i don't like the idea of him as a playable character. As for Vorador he's a loser (no offence to all you Vorador fans out there) and what would a game starring Vorador be about?! Him running around making vampire brides for himself?! It doesn't seem like his interested in anything else. I HATE VORADOR!!
I agree with lady_d concentrate on Raziel. Although i really don't know what to make the game about... cause he didn't gain any new abilities between SR2 and LOKD and to take away he's powers in a new game would not be a smart idea, so i don't know.
I like LOKD, with Kain and Raziel as playable characters. How about another :)

Make it bigger, more level designs like the Sarafan Stronghold. With maybe a bit more of the platforming we had in that level, plus the nice places to fight.
Keep Kain at the same power level.
No more Reaver forging, no more elemental reavers.
Tweak the fighting a little bit, just to allow more variations. Make the harder enemies harder because they fight better, not because half your moves don't work on them properly (like the demons). Even if it is hard, it should still be fun to fight the demons. Just using the Reaver is fine. Keep all the moves from here and see what can be added in the course of the next game, but stay with only one weapon, in this game it amounted to much more enjoyable fighting that the crapload of weapons in BO2 or SR2.
No spells. maybe add in some kind of extra TK abilities for physical manipulation of enemies, but I don't want to be stuck switching into a menu. This isn't an RPG, and the fighting pace was great in Defiance, don't want to see it slowed down. And no need for another meter. 2 is enough as it is for an action game.
Keep adding destructible parts of the environment. It's always a nice touch. And since the next game shouldn't have more than one playable character, lets keep the world free roaming ala SR1. If we are going to do the time travel again, we should be able to go back and forth this time. Kain knows how to use the time streaming devices, so it'd at least make sense.
Keep the BO2 theme going, it was a nice touch IMO.
Storyline wise, explain Vorador being alive after his death. And lets talk to that Seer again. My favorite generally overlooked character in this series - a Hylden who seemed to have been exempt from their exile and had the vampire's blood curse is an interesting character. At least lets use her for some information again. I could suggest more, but I'm sure the team already has it all in mind.

Am i the only one here who thinks some of these wantings are a little ridiculous (while some are reasonable ^^)? Come one, give these guys a break, it is a game after all, not a simulation. Sure i'm all for more soul reaver 1 weapon usage (kain could have his reaver on his back while he uses another weapon). But it isnt absolutely necessary, oh and for the air combo comment being misplaced in a serious game, well dmc was a very serious game and it had air combos. Lets face it, this is fantasy type game, they're super natural and they can juggle average sized humans easily. And it IS fun, i constantly love re-playing as kain (easier to juggle as kain) just to juggle sarafan warriors around and throw them into bridge rails with tk. Hmm as this is a suggestion thread i do have a suggestion.
I suggest that the team take their time and have fun doing the next game ^^, no need to rush.
Raziel needs to stay dead, stay in the reaver, i am a raziel fan (like kain a little more though, but a raziel fan never the less) and i think if he comes back it'd be cheesy and cheap, he sacrificed himself, accepted his fate and it made raziel much more of a cool character, raziel fans just need to face it. The little frustrated blue one isnt coming back
Oh and one last comment on the previous spell suggestions. There was a few buttons free they could of used for spells, so i don't think it'd be over complicated if they by chance added spells

I still think they should bring Raziel back. It just seems too convenient that Mobius's body was there for Raz to possess. It just seems planned to me.

I'm completely torn. I want him back (being a big Raziel fan) but I do not want him to come back. If he comes back, he completely cheapens the "death" scene that was so well done. But if there is some wonderful twist that allows him to be released and still keeps his sacrifice nobel - I'm all for it. Heck - maybe when it's all said and done he gets to come back and be the guardian of death.....
Or - keep him dead, and just to a Soul Reaver Prequel that allows you to play Raziel in that time after he became a vampire, and before he was tossed into the abyss.... ;)

I definately think Raziel should stay dead. His sacrifice would definately be cheapened if he would be allowed to return. "Hey. Look at me! I'm back !" Sorta like how pathetically lame Megaman X6 was. Zero dies in every ending of X5, yet X6 convieniently overlooks this and has him return for no reason at all. Granted, Legacy of Kains story is light years better than Megaman's story ever could be, its still an example of sloppy story telling.
Maybe when balance is restored. there won't be a need for the Reaver anymore, and Raz's spirit is released from the blade to rest for eternity. Who knows. If this is Raziel's last apearance, I think the team did an excellent job on his finale. His resolution and destiny had such a great pay off for anyone following the series from the beginning.
As for the future. I loved the new camera system, surprisingly. It wasn't perfect, that's for sure. But, I prefer it to the behind-the-character-cam that's been in the rest till now. The new one just needs some tweaking. It was very much a prototype for what I hope will be a well developed system next game.
The action in this game was also far superior to what the other games had. Sorry, but every game from SR on had kind of a slow boring fight engine. It was methodical, sure. But, it wasn't very fun. The new fight engine should stay. And using the telekinesis powers ruled.
A resolution with Janos concerning his fate after BO2 is definately in order. Whether he gets his own game, or whether this is explained in the next installment, it definatly shouldn't be left open.
Other than that, keep up the great work Guys!!
-Kev

I think that along with most of the other things suggested that Kain should be able to turn into a wolf again and tear the crap outa the bad guys! He could even evolve into a much stronger version like a werewolf, where he stands upright and is much bigger. Also, I think it would be cool to fight some more evolved vampires like Zephon, Rahab, Dumah, Melchaia, and Turel.
Or possibly fight them all over again, like say when Raziel got sucked into the sword, their apostate souls somehow escaped and re-formed themselves and Kain has got to put them down for good. Or maybe the Hylden somehow brought them back.

Maybe Raziel has been manipulated once again. Perhaps he was wrong in thinking that being a part of the Reaver was his true destiny. Amy has said that not everything that Raz believes is true. OK, here's why I think Raziel doesn't belong in the Reaver and that he has to get out somehow. Remember when the EG called Mobius to him. Why did the EG summon Mobius to him at that particular moment? The EG already had Raz trapped in the underworld. He also knew Raz would keep trying to escape. The only way the EG could ensure that he couldn't escape in the future was to imprison him in the Reaver. But the EG hasn't been able to do this because Raz has been avoiding his fate. What better way to imprison Raz than to allow him to choose "of his own free will" to be absorbed by the reaver. I think the EG provided Raziel Mobius's body as a means of escape, knowing what was going to happen. The EG has said that he can see into Raziel's heart afterall. Think about it. The EG had no apparent reason to summon Mobius unless he had plans for him, and he told Raziel essentially that Mobius's life served no further purpose. The EG knew Kain would kill Mobius at that moment, thus providing Raziel with a body so he could escape, and allow himself to be sucked into the Reaver, thinking that he could somehow alter Nosgoths fate this way.
I know this is lengthy but its something that has been going over and over in my mind. It just doesn't add up to being the solution to Nosgoths problems.

Nature, Death, States and Balance Reavers. Might as well finish the collection. "Lighting" and "Fire" were actually energy and conflict.
AFAIK he was just channelling his own power as the Scion of Balance through the Reaver, so he wasn't actually forging anyway, just tapping into what he already had.
How about having the option to switch between the SR1/2 camera and the Defiance one. That way everyones happy.
I agree about being able to select the camera that suites you. it's odd you can't. I mean look a GEX 3D SR was using that engine remember. Now in that game you had a choice of automatic and manual cameras (and another too I think?) I'd love to be able to play with the camera. Maybe the debug menu will provide this option?
I don't know what I want for the next game. To be honest I don't have any great longing for anymore. If they never make another I'll be happy.
Now raziel is gone I don't really see how LOK can keep me interested. I'm sure many others will share my view. I don't want him to come back either. He needs to stay dead.
The only thing I can think of I'd like to see is a PS3 version of SR1-defiance where you only play raziel. Refilm all the cutscenes res evil remake style
I'd like a similar kain game too but they're all so seperate. I'd like the kain levels of defiance to be unlocked to play seperately after finishing the game. that would be the mother of all bonuses

It took a little getting use to, but I think the new combat system is pretty solid. I got real tired of the unblockable attacks and other aspects of the BO2 engine. One tweak I'd like to see is that if an object pops in between the camera and your character, that object should turn transparent or translucent.
As far as what I'd like to see in as a future story element, I liked the Umah character in BO2, I'd love to see somethign like the Kain from the end of Defiance rescue her from the brink of oblivion. It would be worth it just to see her reaction. Of course it might not make a lot of sense as to _why_ he'd do that, but still. :D
I'm still of the opinion that they could do a remake of BO1 as a 3D game. I really liked BO1, but now days its pretty hard to get a computer put together to play it and the graphics and gameplay are pretty outdated. The outdated look may put off new fans of the series who would otherwise enjoy the story elements. I bet they could remake BO1 for the PS2 and include the original BO1 on the same disc.

NO WOLF FORM!!! Seriously, it was annoying enough in BO1 to have to transform into a wolf just to be able to JUMP! Now I know they wouldn't make that mistake again, but then what would be the point? I'd rather they save the programming time and space on the disk to add more content like a larger world and see what else they can put into the already sweet fighting system.
Fighting more vampires would be cool with me, but the brothers are gone. When Raziel consumes souls, they don't go into him and stay there like the ghostbusters' traps, they get spun back into the wheel.
And leave Raziel dead. Don't make it stupid or cheap.
As much as I'd like to see a BO1 remake, there are the issues of other companies directly involved in that game (Silicon Knights chiefly, along with Activision I imagine) and that'd probably hinder efforts to do it. If it is done, I think they should wait until the end when they can then release some big boxed set of LoK, with the souped up BO1 included.

Fighting more vampires would be cool with me, but the brothers are gone. When Raziel consumes souls, they don't go into him and stay there like the ghostbusters' traps, they get spun back into the wheel.
I don't mean that the only reason for the wolf form would be just for jumping, he does that fine on his own. I meant it would be a like a new attack for him to use, in accordance with the new combat system, where he could shift into wolf-form, whup on some baddies, and then shift back. And if he kills them in that form, instead of sucking their blood he would just rip them to shreds and lap the blood up! On the vampires I just figured that either their could be some new ones that have evolved like how the brothers did. And who's to say that the EG could'nt bring them back somehow? If he's so powerful, anythings possible.

Hey there, omega!I noticed the other thread you posted letting me know!So thanks!
Anyways...I didn't get the sense that Hash was Turel at all...if you hear what Turel said,he said he was 'summoned' to that point in time.To me,Turel was used as the "physical representation" of Hash to the Cenobites,it allowed Hash to keep all his worshippers on a rope by making them live in fear of what they believed was really Hash'ak'gik...but it really was the mutated Turel from the SR timeline, who was partially possessed by Hash, who was also using Mortanius as a spokesperson and his main host vessel.People believe best of what they can see...if they see a big scary monster, and someone 'reputable' like Mortanius (The Guardian of Death) tells them that this monster is their god,Hash'ak'gik, then they would be more eager to believe. To me,Turel was nothing more than just a simple figure head stand-in for the REAL Hash'ak'gik, who was in possession of Mortanius and would later seek out Janos' body.
I actually don't think that Raziel is Kain's prophesized enemy,Raziel was linked to Kain because only Raziel's soul could make the Soul Reaver 'pure' once more for the Scion of Balance to use.I think that was part of the confusion of the storyline, that the game makes you think that Raziel and Kain are mortal enemies and that they are destined to battle...but that didn't turn out to be the case,Raziel was just there to help strengthen the Soul Reaver.Vorador told Raziel that the Soul Reaver was made for him, because he would become one with the Soul Reaver to make it pure.
I think that Kain's prophesized advesary has yet to be seen, and might be revealed in the next game. The only thing that the prophesized enemy had in common with Raziel....is the flaming sword and the eyes...otherwise,the character was a Hylden.Raziel's eyes smoked in the other games I believe,to me it was just an indication that he was 'burning' mad (forgive the pun).As for the flaming sword...it could've been the wraith blade,or it could be a whole different sword all together.
That's what I believe....I think everyone's free to make their own assumptions about the game, the only truths will be revealed once the next LoK game comes out.I could be right,I could be wrong, but I have to think otherwise with your reply there omega.
I think Kain's and Raziel's destinies lied to be intertwined because of Raziel's connection with the Soul Reaver.I don't think they were destined to be the fated enemies that were depicted on the walls in the game.
