no one seems to care about legacy of kain defiance on the sites or magazines, (although getting decent previews) but no one really seems to care apart from us.
are we a minority, no one that i no knows about the game coming out, and according to magizines every one who likes legacy of kain are goths, nothing against goths.

Hm. Yes, LOK-D is getting some mighty decent previews and articles. And I think that "decent" is too kind a word to describe the actual situation. LOK-D is doing great!
Why the long face? We are not a minority.
But yes, it's true, people tend to like quantity over quality and multiplayer heavy action over single player. But, euh... to be honest... who cares? Who cares if we are a minority? I don't. And that doesn't matter, because we aren't.
Who isn't sick and tired of WWII FPS games?
EDIT:

I hope you meant quantity over quality, because I consider the LOK series (excluding Blood Omen 2) to be very high quality games. BO2 is quantity over quality.

As long single one of us stands ,we are legion :)
Tesla, i fully agree with You.
And even if we are a minority , it makes us only more individual. I think that community is just great. Quality is my favourite factor and i wouldn't change this community for any other.
Solin , i think You are right , i really like all that vampiric theme , not only game. Yet game makes a best picture of that..

Matthew Danvers , i wasn't saying about Your typo ;)
But that the BO2 is quantity of action over quality.
Sanafa :) I think that we are more like chosen then outcasts. That's why i like this minority thing.
And still , i do not care about them , they should but i think they don't know what they are loosing.

I was origonaly drawn in by the brilliant sr1 intro, it gave me a new perspective of vampires, before i had accoiciated them with french bastards.
It is true what sanafa said though the mindless masses are too busy with the mindless games like fifa and tony hawks which are boring bland and predictable.

My brother is studying at a video game school in vancouver, and he kept saying that no one else in the classes he took knew about LOK, with the exception of his teacher and 1 girl. He mentioned it in one of the class project and had one SR wallpaper for his computer and people just go 'huh?'
And to think they're there to study games.... :(
On the lighter side of note, his teacher said to him that he likes my bro's preference of games :D

No
there are plenty of lovers of the game (not fanatics) that like the game series
Is just many of them do not even know about Defiance yet
I learned about it accidently from Gamespy...i thought Soulreaver 2 ir Blood omen 2 was the last of the legacy of kain games of the series
Anyway i have to say that i do not liked Blood omen 2 so much but i liked Soulreaver series very much (except from the 100000 puzzles that i found annoying)

A Minority?
I read in the psi2 artical when I finally had it that "there is a very active online community" so upto you to decide whether we are a minority. Plus I am noticing a lot more coverage about Defiance then some of the other games I am watching. :)
Note: not an exact quote as I don't have my magazine with me at the moment

The truth is there are not that many serious video gamers out there. I'm sure there are many people, gamers that have heard of all the LOK video games in general, but few that have actually played any of the LOK series games. Still, the video games sales are already competing with movies and cds, and video games are beginning to make more money over all, thus if the LOK series along with other video game series become really popular they could fully surpass movies and cd sales. Perhaps someday, a virtual matrix for gamers to enter of the LOK world may become a reality. The problem is the LOK video games series is not as popular in the United States as the other video games series, such as Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, and Resident Evil. The LOK series needs to have good p.r. agents. By puttings trailers of Defiance in movie theaters would put LOK ahead of all the other series. I've heard LOK is very popular in Europe and especially in Germany, where just about everybody, gamer or not play the games. This is why there are various rerelease special editions of the LOK games in Germany, its likely the most popular in this region of the world over all.

This is really obvious. Even if we are a minority it doesn't just matter, does it?
Playing minority games is like listening to metal music. Only a few non-metal listeners can name more than 10 metal bands. But it doesn't just matter. Metal music and minority games just fit so well in my way of thinking. Both are the very opposite of mainstream culture and popularism. By listening such music / playing such games you tell people that you are an individual. You tell that your opininons don't cross with the ones of mass-culture. You have your own opinions and you are proud of them.
But don't get a wrong picture. I have played many very good popular games and there isn't lot of complaining about them. It's just that the themes of off-mainstream music and games are much more mature and suit my personal taste better. Let's take Gabriel Knight 3 for example. It is one of the best ever, IMO, but because of that ****** FPS game, Half-Life, the story of the GK series was ended there. It wasn't popular enough, which is such a shame. Young people tend to think that it's cool to shoot people or play those over-simplified RTS games, so games, which aren't known and aren't too simple to play just aren't economical enough. So it's always risky to publish an off-mainstream game, since it consumes so much money to make a game nowadays.
So you guys should just be proud of your choice to play and experience the great depth of story of the series.

Yeah, that was me as 'LOKFanatic'
I don't really care whether LOK fans are a minority or not. All that matters are the quality of the games. That's all.

I tend to think of LOK fans as more of a cult.
If that equals minority, so be it.
But I've found that most LOK fans I know are not Goth. So that is an unfair assumption. Ironically, most Goths I know (not many) don't know what LOK is.

A cult? Well...
I wouldn't count myself as a cultist even as much as I like the series. In this case LoK cult is certain level of adoring of the series. A LoK cultist, in example, would buy all the products which have the LoK license. If you have almost all the LoK figures, Raziel watch and the Soul Reaver comic, count youself as a LoK cultist. A cultist also associates LoK in his/her daily life by drawing LoK characters, writing fan fics of LoK and thinks every day of LoK. A LoK fan is just a lame dude who just buys all the LoK games and thinks it's a good series with a great story. ;)

Just tell me that you didn't call metal listeners goths! I am not sure what you meant by this mentioning of the goths but I'm not defiantely a goth. But you are correct in that LoK is very gothic series and goths would probably love it.

Yup, I've got the figures, the comic book, and think about LOK everyday. My husband thinks I'm insane. Maybe he's right. But I think there are others whose LOK cult tendencies are more severe than mine. Nothing wrong with that. And I don't mean cult in any religious sense. I mean it as more of an underground kinda sense.
I mentioned goths only in response to Solin's comment in the first post. Sorry for not quoting it.

Main thing is that YOU WANT TO BE HERE - WITH COMMUNITY. Not how much info / comics / games / figures You have.
That's my point!
last I checked LOK games sell fairly well and everyone that gets them enjoys them. They're never going to be loved by all because of the theme. It's not everyones bag is it? vampires and monsters? Most people would rather play a football game or somethign involving automatic weapons to something like this. That's how it is.
As long as the game sells well enough for CD to keep making sequels there's no problem.

I'm an egoist in such situation. I have no ******* part for them. If they don't like , that's their problem or good thing... Main thing for me is that I feel satisfied and others who think the same. And I'm sure there are such people.
And one more thing , If I would like to play football I will go and play it! Goddamn it. I'm not in Alaska for god's sake. But if I want to shoot smth.. can't go and shoot someone, ehh...

LoK fans do appear to be a minority compared to the followings of other series. Honestly, though, I don't think this is a bad thing at all. Three years ago I could count the number of good LoK fansites on one hand. Nosgoth.net never had bandwidth issues and very few people seemed aware of the existance of a pre-cursor to Soul Reaver 1.
Now there's dozens of great sites, hordes of fans, and Blood Omen 1 is finally getting yanked out of bargain bins, purchased from eBay, and even bought in its re-release form.
It's good to see LoK get more attention, for the most part. It may not be "mainstream," but I think that's to be expected. As proved in the most recent Official PlayStation Magazine, some people are just too stupid to handle intellectual stimulation.
LoK cultist, in example, would buy all the products which have the LoK license.
Clearly blincoln is our cult leader. :p
I am a fanatic. I won't deny it. I've been terrorizing everyone with my countdown over the past couple days and I imagine it will only get worse as my enthusiasm grows with each passing day. :D
Clearly blincoln is our cult leader.
wow, ben. You have little fledgling vampires! stage 1 is complete!:D

I am happy to admit I am a LoK cultist. Have been since I got SR2 and was introduced to the series. I've got a pair of BBI figures of Raz: before and after. I've got an entire folder in my computer devoted to LoK - with numerous folders inside to make way for fanart/fanfiction including categories for specific artists, wallpapers of all kinds, clan insignias and warp symbols, trailer playlists, soundtrack playlists, Winamp skins, etc etc etc. I write alot of LoK parody - I've got 5 notebooks filled with it. Those books were supposed to be for school notes. The notes never made it. ;) And now when I pass a school supply aisle in the supermarket, I drool. :p My sister's friend is a swords buff, and he's got a sword "Dracula" which is curvy like the Reaver. He's got nice stuff. :D
And it's so nice to see so many people abroad and even from your own neighborhood who are interested in the series. It's a great way to make friends - easier than going to a bar, and you at least have something to talk about that you both enjoy.

Heya, there... is your brother artistically gifted? Do you have to be art-inclined to go into game design? Because I'm rather interested, but I couldn't draw to save my life.

Ha, nice to know I'm not the only one with a massive folder of LoK stuff (mostly art and screenshots in my case). All of my LoK MP3s are in a music folder but my LoK folder is up to 352 MB and 1,015 files, although 152 MB and 362 of those files are BO1 WAVs. :D

I'm a fanatic too, but I won't call myself a cultist.
I prefer the term "loyal LOK disciple" :D
My house is full of glyph symbols, and I painted my bedroom to look like the spectral realm. I may have gone to far... oh well.
(The next step is to get that concept art of Raz in the graveyard made into poster-size and hang it in the dining room. It's the perfect place for it)
Roxy, my brother said that it helps if you can draw well, but there are other people in his class who can't draw very well. As long as you have some artistic sense, he said it should work. I know he spends his days just drawing and drawing (it might get tedious after a while). I posted his Kain sketch in the art gallery.
