Just wondering if anyone else here has SimCity 4. :) And if anyone has been able to master it yet. :p

I've got it somewhere here, didn't played it much though. The game looks real nice, especially the god mode (terrain building tool) is done well. Only like every Sim City game I build a small piece of a town and than I quit the game bored :(

I've got Sim City 3000, but I've had my eyes on 4... it looks good :)

It's good, but it's so hard! In the previous games you're given the pre-made humongous cities. Well, in SimCity4, the largest pre-made city is only 6,000 people.

I finally last night got one of the cities past 10,000. And then it was 11,000 this morning. :p

It's kind of cool that you go into not knowing what's next. Everytime a new building is starting to be built, it's so exciting because you never know what it's going to look like. I finally got a mini-skyscraper/apartment building to spring up in the city. :)

Sounds like you're having a blast there Aquarius :) And, the increased difficulty only makes it a bigger challenge... just as long as it isn't too difficult ;) :D

But it is too difficult. lol I'm still 20,000 people away from getting a commercial skyscraper. And at this rate, that might finally happen sometime after Christmas. lol

I can't wait to see what new buildings are still yet to come. :)

Aw shucks! Well, I wish you luck Aquarius :) Isn't there a difficulty setting tho? :)

Aquarius

Yeah, and it's on easy right now! lol I'd hate to see what the hard setting is like.

Sounds like it'd be a nightmare.

I bought it this summer, really like the graphics and sound, but I'm hopeless as a mayor!!! They love me cause I give em loads of little parks and gardens and flowers and keep evrything squeaky clean but that only attracts land-trolls  And if it weren't for the moneycheat, I'd run them into ruin in no time :D

I started a brand-new city last night from scratch. It's population is already over 2,000 and has a monthly income of $400. :D That's the best I've had in a city yet!

I haven't been desparate enough so far to resort to cheats. ;)

Good! ;) Avoid cheating (unless absolutely necessary), it takes the fun and the challenge out of the game ;)

14,500 now on the city I started just on Wednesday. :D What's really bad, is I could reach that easily within an hour on SimCity 3000 Unlimited. :p

Well, you'll get there eventually, just keep the spirits up ;)

I would get Sim City 4000 too, yet I can't force my, "Sims" to unwillingly hand over all of their income. Is there a reason for this, or do I just have to become less merciful?

I reached a population of over 25,000 today. :D I'm much closer to having a population high enough to start having skyscrapers. :D Woot woot!

I have one mini commercial skyscraper, and about 2 or 3 high-rise, high-wealth apartment complexes. I also finally raised enough money for a Minor League Soccer Stadium, and just awaiting money to be raised for the University. :) What sounds good for the name? University of Neue Wodenstadt, or Neue Wodenstadt University? :p

I take back my words!

You gave me the idea to give the game one more chance. Started a new city last night, Raccoon City (from Resident Evil) and got over 12.000 people! and making a few hundreds profit!

This game is awesome! :D

now where in the outskirts of the city, somewhere in the forest and mountains, should I put the Mansion where Jill, Chris and Barry went? ;)

You slowly need to get used to the way this one handles. :p

I can't wait until I get good enough to dare building a city ontop of a moutain plateau! :D

So many possibilities lie ahead still!

And don't you just love how you can watch the building go up right before your eyes?!? :D

I only dislike the way how the 'reconcile walls' is. (the function that your city has the same edge as your neighbour city) It is supposed to be great, but when I let the computer generate the edges, I lose a lot of buildings! Even when I make the terrain on the surrounding areas first and reconcile those structures!

should I make all the enviroment (hills, water...) first of the whole region and then start building the cities? Or shouldn't I place things on the edge of the area?

I would build all of the terrain items first. It saves you money ;) and the destruction of buildings. :p

My city has hit a recession. lol I've lost 6,000 people just today! I barely have money again, but I'm trying to build my way back up. Budget cuts everywhere! lol

And how is your population coming along now? lol

with or without the zombies? ;)

now I'm about 14/15000. Didn't play much today, I think I'm going to start over. First I'm going to make the surroundings.

if I'm ready, expect cities like Raccoon City and Silent Hill :)
Thanks for your advice!

Don't know if you've already decided, but I'd go for Neue Wodenstadt University myself :D

I was liking that one too. ;) And I've been in debt today in the game, so I haven't had the money to build the university yet. ;)

Good luck with starting over Tipsko! :)

Thanks, Aquarius.

I like the God building tool. It is so beautiful!

Only when your city becomes to large, it takes me a few seconds to load it when I zoom in or out. Very irritating! Maybe a lower resolution :(

I have that same problem. But to me, the slowdowns are worth it. :)

My city bounced back to around a constant of 23,000. :D I finally have some tall Commercial buildings. Actually, it's the same one, just 2 other times. :p It's not a skyscraper, but with somewhere between 10-20 floors it's the tallest commercial building. :p Still waiting for the rest of the money for NWU! ;)
