please help how do you find north on tomb raider 4 i need to know asap cos im rentin the game and it's gotta go back soon?!
From Stella:
"Using the Compass. (TR4 Only) Press Escape to go to the inventory screen. The compass is on the left side, below the menu ring. In case you've never used a real compass (or are a product of the American educational system), the red side of the needle always points north. You can then infer where east, west and south are; or turn Lara so she's facing due north, then the settings on the compass will read true."

Why do you need to find north?

Because some cheats for level skipping for the older games require you to face North... But they don't work for AOD anyway.
Maybe someone has to write a Tutorial on How To Use The Search Engine; a simple search for 'cheats' gave this, posted by therose:
level skip and choose level,
during gameplay press start,
then press and hold L R triangle and down together.
next press the circle, then up, square, triangle, right and down.
Be sure to do this very very quickly.
If it doesn't work immediatly keep trying.
It will work in the end.

That's brilliant! They should make all who want to sign up for the forum to pass a test for searching skills after they've read this thing! :D

Yep, that is how I spell it...:D
And I did make a tutorial of sorts, but unfortunatley so many people ignored it, it was relinqueshed to the forum archives so the only way you can find it is to SEARCH (http://forums.eidosgames.com/search.php?s=)
kinda ironic, dontcha think?
(or you could just click on it from my sig ;) )

I find it hard to believe that some do not know to try any forums' search engine before posting a question. Most problems have already been asked/answered and it's a lot quicker to find an existing one than post a duplicate and hope for a response.
Perhaps the SEARCH and a new Tutorial button need to be moved so they are more prominent in the layout and more specific, ie:
SEARCH this forum
HOW to search this forum
Anyway it is a nice intro to SEARCHing for those who don't know to try.
P.S. Depending on the graphics settings the compass needle becomes transparent on "true' North.
