Hey guys. I'm refering to the end of the game so do not read the rest of this if you haven't finished it yet (i'd hate to be a spoiler)

Anyway, I was browsing though the threads and read a lot of support and backlash towards Kurtis Trent. A lot of fans were talking about if they think he'll be in the next game, or a spinoff or something. And I'm confused...to MY understanding, there never was a Kurtis Trent. Isn't that what the Nephilim man told Lara at the end of the game when he was shape-shifing into all the characters that helped her along the way? Right? Just wondering if I was missing something or if fans were just speculating "what if" senarios. That's all. Thanks

As I understand it, Karel, the shapeshifting baddie, was able to transform himself into other characters. But, I think he only transformed into exisiting characters; i.e. Kurtis, Eckhart, etc...
I think the real gist is that Lara can never be sure when she's dealing with the real Kurtis and when she isn't. For example, when we see Kurtis in the Cafe Metro or when she exits the storm drains, is it really him or is it Karel eavesdropping or tracking her progress? No way to tell really.
Anyway, that's how I understood it. Hope that's helps.

The ending confused me too. I wasn't sure if Kurtis was real or not but I think he is and that's only because when Lara picked up his weapon of choice it glowed and the blades came out, revealing that he was 'calling' it or something like that. I thought Lud***** was a pretty kool character and I hated to see him die. Also Bouchard, even tho he was 'just doing what he had to do' while I was in Von Croy's apartment, lol.

One thing really puzzled me though. Remember after Lara was frisked by Kurtis and outside when he was laying on the ground someone ran up and hit her on the head and knocked her out? Well it was a guy in that blue uniform and gas mask, but HE also changed form back to Bouchard's doorman from the Parisian Ghetto! I was thinking, why the doorman? He wasn't that important unless you took his path to Bouchard by telling him the password 'Pluit Noir'. Weird little things like this in the game made it interesting, yet confusing, but some of our questions will probably be answered in the second and third installment in this triliogy.

Yeah, it is interesting. If he didn't shape shift into Eckardt, I would tend to think that all the other characters never really existed. But since he was Eckardt, and the was also "the real Eckardt" it is possible that he simply possed at Kurtis and the others. I just think the storyline was great for AOD, it made up for the bugs and stuff. With most of the other games, you know your goal and pretty mucht most of a story from the get go. For example, in TR2, we knew from the start the quest was to get a dager that transformed a person into a dragon. This story, however was more complex and more of an unfolding mystery. Really great, I can't wait to learn more about it in the next games. Hopefully, they will come out in decent time.

there were a couple of things that bothered me about karel. first of all, how does lara know his name? the only time she saw him before was at the biodome, where boaz was thrown in the pod. he was there too, but his name wasn't mentioned.

also, i couldn't figure out at what point he was the reporter. the first time lara met him must have been the real one, so maybe karel was the reporter the second time? but that means he must have heard the first conversation between lara and the reporter to know that she needed all that stuff....

who's this lud*****? i saw some pictures of him at some sites, but i can't remember him being in the game, or being killed...

Me thinks there is a real Kurtis Trent who will be the friendly foil for Lara in this series, sort of like Belaq or what ever his name was in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. The guy who after Lara goes through the dangers of desecrating the ancient ones' tombs by robbing them of their relics, he has the audacity of stepping in and stealing the treasure away from her.

This may also put a crimp in their love life, but I'm not guessing whose pockets will be empty the next morning. :D
