Hi! Try this:

1. Make sure you have the latest video card drivers and the new patch for the game installed.

2. In the game settings, change the Frame Rate Compensation from Smooth to Fast.

3. Disable the Antialiasing of your video card.

4. If this doesn't help, go to Start menu, click Run, type dxdiag, click Save All Information and post the text file here.

P.S. Reading the first topic on the forum (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=135) and using the Search engine http://forums.eidosgames.com/images/top_search.gif (ttp://forums.eidosgames.com/search.php?s=) for Black Screen as keywords, can help a lot.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try them. What is antialiasing though? Where can you find that at?

Antialiasing is a way to reduce the effect of the object curved edges being not smooth but rather squarey. It's a setting that's located in the Display Advances setting in the Control Panel. On the Display window, click Settings, then Advanced, and then go to the tab of your video card, it shuld be somewhere around. :)

Your video driver is way outdated. Download a new driver here: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Also, download the new patch for AOD here: http://www.eidosinteractive.co.uk/support/patchinfo.html?ptid=67

It should fix your problem.

I have the new 45.23 driver now and I already had the new patch. Now all that happens is it plays the "Eidos Interactive" short movie at the beginning with sound, then after that it goes blank and no sound.

This game is making me mad!

P.S. I have not been able to find anything about antialiasing. I looked where you told me.

The antialiasing can be adjusted here:

http://www.geocities.com/cycro712/antial.txt

This window is accessible through Control Panel/Display.

I had problems with the antialiasing before the patches and the new driver were released, now I can use it. Anyhow, move the slider to the left, on the first or the second position.

If this doesn't help, try to untick the Intel SSE box on the general games settings window.

I think I threw $35 out the window when I bought this game!!:o

Ok, the last thing that I could think of, is to check if you have more than one keyboard enabled in the game settings. There should be only one keyboard and one mouse enabled, in case you have more tabs present... and also untick the Multithreaded box on the general tab.

Game still doesn't run.

Thanks so much for all your help though. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me ;)

I have a friend who is a computer whiz and I'll have him come over here sometime and try to figure it out. Hopefully he can.
