Paul still alive?

I recently started playing the game again, so I could explore all the places I was in too much of a hurry to see the other 2 times I played the game.
Anyway the Ton Hotel mission when you are going to get evidence and rescue Paul seemed to play a little different this time.
Last time I think I exited out the window this time knowing what would happen I set up LAM's etc in stratigic places then when the fighting started we both went out the front door, and fought our way to the Hotel Exit. He says he will meet me in Hong Kong etc.

Next thing or shortly there after you are caught and placed in MJ12 Prison, last time I went right for my gear and by the time I reached the place they Kept Paul he was dead ( I think).
This time I headed right to the Labs (taking out everything in site) to see if I could rescue Paul.
As it turned out he was alive and well and we had a nice conversation, then he and I went our seperate ways again to meet up in Hong Kong.

This is a very old subject but since you don't seem to know what triggers what in that sequence...I'll be happy to clue you in and anyone else that might not know at this stage of the gameplay :) If you leave by the window..you save Paul for later mission inputs. If you leave with Paul through the door...he will be dead when you get to that part at the Lab where you found him. It's how that part evolves regarding Paul :) Ta and Good Hunting!

Actually he is alive and we both went though the front door....
I made a point this time of fighting my way out with him and then met up with him again in the MJ12 Lab, where he was alive.
So sounds like there may be more then one way to save him.
However after you go to Hong Kong do you see him again is what I am wondering?

Err, wrong way around. If you leave via the window, he dies. If you leave via the door, he lives.

Met im in HK after I did the Virsalife UC mission he was waiting at Tongs. Now this was a total surprise and I loved it! Can't wait to see where else he may show up.

Hmmm, well it's been awhile since I played and sorry if I got it confused :o I have played it both ways and apparently got mixed up on the tripped script for it :( I got us out once and thinking about it I guess we parted at the Station while I made my way on to where Gunther was waiting and trapped me (JC)...heh! Yes I remember that happening too...if you stay but let yourself get killed while fighting...he will live :) I guess the bottom line is that if you stay one way or another to help rather than to leave him...he'll live awhile longer for a little more of the game :) Ta and Good Hunting!

maybe you shouldn't have tried to shoot him yourself (even to spare the job to the MIB)

If one leave by the window, he dies.
If one leave thru the front door or gets "killed" in the hotel, he lives.

The best way to let him live is to run into the enemies and "die" as fast as possible.

if you didn't kill Anna Navarre in he plane, and you die before you go to the subway station, when do you get to kill her? (never tried that)

At the entrance to the UNATCO, while escaping. One have to kill her or one doesn't get the key (from Alex Jacobson) to get out.

It is possible to not kill her there, thanks to a "glitch" and the game will treat her as dead anyway.

The first time i played the game i got to the Ton and when the MIB's blasted in i got scared **** and went through the window.Later on the game in the labs Paul was dead.
Second time through the game i planted LAM's at the hallway (lots of laughs hearing the MIB's blow up :D ) and stayed for the battle.When all MIB's were killed i walked OUT THE WINDOW AGAIN and later on i saw (to my suprise) that Paul was alive.
So my guess is that if u stay and fight to the end Paul remains alive to tell the story :)

If you gonna kill A. Navarre later in the subway station, P. Denton will survive. But if gonna die before you get in the metro P. Denton will be dead.

J-esus C-hrist Denton, I did exactly that and he died anyway! :/
