I started to install AOD and my computer crashed (not down to AOD) now when I try to install the game, I get as far as Installshield trying to Configure the Windows Installer and then I get an error message "1628 Installation failed to complete". I have tried updating Windows Installer with no difference, I have tried doing a system restore and deleting all TMP files, and as there is no trace of a partial AOD install, I cant delete or uninstall that.
Any ideas? I hope i dont have to resort to formatting again.

I've had similiar problems in the past. The only things I can suggest:
Move your reader to another IDE channel, preferable 2nd IDE as master.
In the old days master used to be middle connector and slave end connector. Motherboards nowadays put master on the end connector and slave on the middle connector.
When you have a burner as well as a reader and a DVD, the configuration for me is
1st IDE
HDD - Master - end connector
DVD - Slave - middle conector
2nd IDE
Reader - Master - end connector
Burner - Slave - middle connector
Also I've had problems with readers in the past with data transfer - SONY comes to mind, Panasonic, AOpen and Creative, I've put all these in the never to buy again pile. For me these have all had data transfer problems. Try an old cheapy KMart brand.
Hope this isn't too confusing.

Thanks for your help, although that wasn't the problem... It was something to do with msiexec.installer program that is built into XP, my one had become corrupted and went doolally when I tried to install anything. I spent hours trying to reload the corrupted prog, but with no effect, I think the corruption went all the way back to the registry blah blah blah.... etc etc anyway, long story short, I ended up reformatting the drive and re-installing XP, 2 hours later after re-installing all my drivers and progs, TR now installs and plays perfectly!
Thanks
