custom levels

In spite of my advancing years (or perhaps because of them) I am a fan of Tombraider and until recently I have been content with Playstation 1. However since eploring the Web, I have uncovered a veritable gold mine in the form of Custom levels. But I don't know how to go about using them. I believe that I will need a level editor. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. And please remember that this is new territory for me and I am not familliar with the tech. jargon. Keep it simple for a simple mind.
