The AOD game has received bad reviews as has the COL film, and it seems as if the Lara Croft franchise is going through a "tired" period. It occurred to me that just before the film Goldeneye with Piers Brosnan in it came out, people had written off the James Bond franchise as dead. If a good script playing to the strengths of the Tomb Raider genre was produced (.e. including some tombs and with some Angelina Jolie type characterisation), I'm sure Lara could get her mojo back.
Well actually with some (which is a large number) "long time" TR fans, the TR games and the TR movie are two different species.
AJ in the TR movie is more like Lara Croft evil twin
I think the new movie makers should explore making a TR movie based in CGI and cast the real "Lara Croft", I know it will work
:P

I agree with Io. I think a CGI would be much better because the only thing the movie has in common with the game is the name "Lara Croft" and "Tomb Raider". Although I liked the places she went to, I liked the second one better than the first because it delt with more of Tomb Raiding and not a real 'dramatic' story about her father (who, according to Lara Croft's history, didn't get along with anyway). I think AOD suffered because so many people were pushing for them to finish it, and when they finally do, there are bugs in it because they had rushed. I even got a defective copy because the wads were a mismatch. After playing AOD, I was sucked back into the spirit of Tomb Raider and I am happy with it. I can't wait for the next Tomb Raider. A lot of the fans say it's 'just not the same' but a lot of the levels were similar to previous Tomb Raider levels. People say nothing has changed and are upset. People say they changed too much and they are upset. People welcomed Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness with a negative attitude, and I think that's why it didn't launch too well. Anyway, long story short (too late), I don't think they need to make an Angelina Jolie type characterization. People were fans of Tomb Raider simply because of Lara Croft, the computer game character, not Angelina Jolie the actress.

It would be great if Lara had to handle a crazy bad 'bond'girl, instead of the usual 'save the world' stuff.
A battle scene between Lara and Femke Janssen or Izabella Scorupco ? :D

well she did battle a beotch, in the TR series called natila; but it would be great of they could make her do "round houses" and "snuff out head locks", on a caricature like nutila, that is if they brought her back some how from the twilight Zone.

I think you may be mistaken about Lara's relationship with her father. She was a real Daddy's girl. He's the one that got her on her first expedition with Von Croy.

Hey Mister; what to you mean by the cliché “a real Daddy's girl"

Her parents disowned her because of her life style. I think you may be mistaken

I think that's where the movies and the game don't match; in Tomb Raider 1 (the movie), we saw Lara as a 'daddy's girl' (you know, when she says 'I wish we could take back the time that was stolen from us...blabla')
When you read the manual of TR1 (the game), it says that Laras parents abandoned her because of her lifestyle.
+ Where the hell is Winston the Butler in the movies ?
Instead of Winston, we get a gay geek (Hillary) and a computernerd.

Yeah, I was trying to make a point that they didnt match. And I was disappointed to see that the butler was so young and named "hillary" *angry as well*
