I just installed the patch and the game display the error above when I load my saved game.

This is what your computer will tell you when the configuration for a save game has changed, and is no longer the current configuration.
I think you can do the same thing if you mess with the options, so you might be able to undo it there, as the patch may have given your system different default settings that are not the same as your save games.

If not, then you will have to start over.
