As I type this message my Lara is frozen in time. Music is still going strong but Lara and all her surroundings are stopped. I know I can just restart but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced their own frozen Lara?
I had the same problem yesterday. It happended twice. The first time the entire game froze, but I was happy that the music was still playing because it sounded really nice. The second time was a bit more strange because the game didn't actually freeze, but I managed to get Lara stuck in a position between a fence and a park bench and I simply could not get her to out of it.

Either your PS2 can't handle so much polygons (after all the PS2 processor runs only at 733 MHz...) or the bump mapping (i.e. object collision) LODs haven't been done too detailed. OR your disk might simply be scrached. Remember, a PS2 is only a machine - it's not perfect.

I can help you! I am still awaiting my PC version but I know what you can do:
*hands a lighter over*
You know what to do! :D :D :D

Yeah, once I jumped over a barrel and somehow she was frozen in a falling animation loop halfway through the ground. It was kind of funny because I could rotate the camera and access my menu and everything, she had just clipped the ground plane.

It doesn't sound like a perfect game to me -- hope the PC version will work

This thread scares me, I hope this is a rare event for the game.

If the PS2 version is this bugged.....it scares me too, because usually the PC versions are 10X worse because you don't have Sony demanding quality.

The PC version is 10x bugged when the game was written specificly for the PS and then the code is redone for the PC. However, here the code was designed both for the PS2 and PC, so the quality of the PC version should be the same or even better.

I highly doubt they wrote the code for both ps2 and pc. By the way the game plays on ps2 I'd say your in for the same freeze that the ps2 gets. Just hope you don't have to reboot your whole computer when it happens:)

my lara froze in parisian back streets 8 times the first day I had it. after wiping the heck out the disc and giving in and buying the game its own PS2 memory card because it's too snotty for megamemory it hasn't froze *cross fingers* but now I save my game every 3 seconds-takes all the fun out of it -2 step save 2 step save. Some people have told me that I'm the only one with this problem....but I've seen a few posts about this problem. Trust me my stuff is immaculate and I've had no problems with a game hardly ever on PS1 or PS2. I've been very happy with my TR and PS experience up until now. I was not very happy at not being able to play my game. It still has other bugs too, that people say I should just deal with but it seems like a very buggy game IMo and I have a lot of issues with it. I'm giving until Thursday to see if it straightens out or if it should be returned! Because at the end of it all, I'm not gonna stress over a game and there are other things I could do with my $90 (game, guide, and memory card) and be happier.
Semms like a good game tho but it should have been worked on some more!

Your RAM memory is not your memory card. THat's for saving. RAM is something else. I guess that PS2 just cant handle such advanced graphics - Eiodos pushed the limit... ANd TR will work without glitches on any new comp. The PC has the graphics cards (hail Radeon and GeForce!), the RAM (hail 1 GB of DDR Ram!), and the processor (hail Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz!) to run the game with twice as good resolutions/graphics and twice as fast. Dude, get Alienware Area 51, or Falcon Northwest, or make your own cool PC... You will be shocked how far better it is than your outdated PS2... (for comparison, the PS2 runs a 733MHZ processor... compared to Intels's P4 3000Mhz, it's even worse than crap...) :D

Sounds like the disc to me , or a dirty lens in the PS2. (dusty?) But hey, who knows? I've never had that problem on mine, my brother however, has a game cube and has that freezing problem with almost every game he plays.
That is until I cleaned the lens on it.

Are you calling Final Fantasy X "crappy graphics"?
Because right now Squaresoft is running circles around Eidos IMO!!!
please don't act like you live with me and know what I got and like you know me.

The PS2 have NO problems, there a LOT of PS2 games with much better grafics than AOD and they don`t crash or have slowdowns.
Don`t know how but core, "didn`t have all the time they needed" to finish the game and test it right. Stop blaming the PS2, those are programing problems.
And to BkBaby999: Eidos doesn`t make games. Core and other companies make them.

hehehe
EIDOS published the PC version of FINAL FANTASY VII and it has yet to be decided who will get the publishing rights to FFXI but EIDOS has a great chance based on past (only PC SQUARE-ENIX publisher).
Okay, back on topic, I DID have my PS2 lockup once, I could not repeat it. I just reset the game and went on from there. I was in the disco level with the lights running and someone shooting at me as I was jumping from one side to the other of the lighting rig.

I had it happen about 4 times already I wonder if it has something to do with having an old PS2. Mine was one of the first ones. Check out my post on the levitating Lara. It's a definate bug in the game. I thought a UFO beamed her up!

I froze twice so far, and in the beginning, my PS2 wouldn't read the game 9something that has never happened to me before). I kept reseting, but it didn't work. I took it back, got another one and it worked fine, other than the freezing and sudden jumping when I didn't tell her to jump.

... You will be shocked how far better it is than your outdated PS2... (for comparison, the PS2 runs a 733MHZ processor... compared to Intels's P4 3000Mhz, it's even worse than crap... Outch..! The XBox is running a 733Mhz processor (Pentium I, 32Bit). The PS/2 is running a 128Bit "emotion engine"!
The freeze could be simple a damaged game disk, DVD ppl know this. That happens. Exchange the game disk. Your dealer should help.

Well, look at it this way - when PS3 comes out, it will probably play it really great.

the freeze probably is caused by a damaged disc, cos if you listen when playing you can hear the game constantly streaming data from the dvd.

i had the game freeze on me only once. in the Lights at the club i think it was because all the RAM was being used up. i had it happen on GTA3 and and MGS:SOL after i restart no problem. iv seen a LAG spike when running around smoke.
