Caligo, I've got the same problem. Maybe if we shout out loud together, someone could come over and rescue us. I already found out that TRC will only quit when change the settings. Try to leave the settings for the screen resolution on the original and standard settings (640x480; i think) and you'll see that it works fine. But it's all messed up then and I wouldn't want it, now would you?

Hey! Don't you get a message after the TRC-crash that you can send a report to Microsoft? I get that too! I've tried it, but the bastards don't seem to think it's important! Could you send one please? Maybe the more messages they get about the same problem, maybe the chances are higher that they will actually try to do something and help us, right?

thnx!

bye for now

I've got a patch now (thanks to bedazzled) for XP wich I think is going to work. So I'm closing this thread. But if you want the patch Godfather then you can find it here

http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr5/utilities.html

Not sure it this link works!

Forgot that I can't close a thread

Caligo, you can't close the thread, but because you started this you can also delete it. Go to your first post, click on edit and you'll see a white, blank square in your upper left corner with some text next to it saying that you've got the possibility to delete this thread. Thanks for the link and I hope we can keep in touch for any further problems. Just like you, I 2 hope one day all Tomb Raider-games can work perfectly on windows XP and if we help each other, things could just turn out fine.

Yes, I think I can! Amazingly enough God helped me restoring all of my Tomb Raider-games (except n°2, but I'm working on it) and Tomb Raider I, III, IV and V work just fine with me. The way I see it, you can do 2 things.

1) You can go to www.tombraiderchronicles.com and search for the patch for TRV under WinXP, coz that is the site where I found the patch long ago; only I don't know where to look for it.

2) Or you can PM me and give me your e-mailaddress and I'll send you the patch myself ASAP. The only thing you gotta do then is take this red-colored icon going by the name of "PCTomb5.exe" and replace it with the one you already have. You should then be able to run TRV under WinXP without any problems!

P.S.: If you should still run into a problem, do what I did then. Right-click onto this very icon (PCTomb5.exe) and select properties and click on comptabilities. Then make sure that the square underneath the title Comptability mode is clear-white-unmarked! Normally this should be marked to resolve problems, but it's just the other way around with me. By unmarking it, the problems seem to go away. I hope it works out for you too, my friend! (and I hope things'll never change anymore (regarding Tomb Raider-games problems; that is) in the near future).

bye for now
