Great E3 AoD Gameplay trailer !!!

Okay, sorry if somebody has already posted it somewhere else on the forum, but here is a link to the official gameplay video from E3. It is on the German Eidos FTP server.

I warn you it is about 38 Mb, so unless you have a fast connection (DSL, T1, cable, satellite) you might want to download this other version:

It is only 9,8 MB. Both movies are in QuickTime format, but if you log onto the Ftp server, you'll find Windows Media versions, too.

First impression: the movie is great, I was amazed when I saw raindrops splashing on the cable which Lara used to cross from one rooftop to the other, but the AI appears to be hopelessly dumb. Just watch the scene with Kurtis: he fights one of those zombies and the other zombie in the background is just walking up and down instead of rushing to attack Kurtis. Either these zombies are deliberately designed as mindless, slowly reacting monsters or the AI is one of the worst failures in the history of computer gaming.

I strongly hope they fix it before the game goes gold.

The one part of it that I didn't like was where Kurtis Trent is creeping up on the guy and then he goes against the wall. The camera change from him walking to going against the wall was a bit wierd, but I bet I'll get used to it.

Hmm, it seems that the Eidos UK site has also posed a link to this trailer, and it is on their own server. Maybe it will be faster for people who have problems connecting to the German server.

I thought that was an incredible movie, the best one yet! Lara's moves look so much more realistic and the graphics are by far the best I've ever seen.

There are two parts i like in the movie.

1. at the end when fire surounded lara. Those effects were really good!
2. When she was in the club and the volumetric lighting kicked in and there wasn't any slow-down!

You really couldn't judge the A.L and the moment cause all she was doing was sneaking around. Even with those things Curtis was fighting, they are crazy type monster so you really couldn't espect too much.

And i want better shadows, there is only one for the Lara or Curtis and they don't move acording to the lighting in the game.
Also they said that there will be lightmaping and shadow for most of the objects, Where is it?

All and all i was impressed by the movie, but i not gonna give my hopes up cause of this!

all in all it was ok.. I expected to see more thank just jumping and such A.I. is bad no argument there...

in the end it shows lara holding the kuri blade right after it says to be continued... look at her left hand...

I did't see that! i'll go check it out!

And about the A.I. ... they didn't show much of it. I really don't think it could be jugded really do to the lack of footage.

Yeah I looked and saw it too now. Does it mean she can use it too???!!! Personally I woud love that idea.

In that final scene, I enjoyed very much as the heat from those fiery pits blurred the view. That's something we have hardly seen in any other video games (as far as I know).

OMG, I'm really falling in love with this weapon! It is so cool! And that it can be steered with mind control :)
(I'm really wondering how you get this thing flying... his fingers are stuck in the whole thing... or would a ring escape from the middle where he holds it? I mean the ring with the knifes on it.)

Btw, I liked the music A LOT at the end when you saw her walk away (in black and white) with the Chirugai blade in her left hand.

I trongly have the feeling that you see that when you die or so. So that you couldn't save her so you lost her... and she walks in darkness again...

hey guys, look at the start of the movie. there you look at Lara through someone's eyes while Lara is pointing at you with guns. I guess you look at Lara through the eyes of Kurtis and there you'll start play as Kurtis.

Tombraiderchronicles.com has posted a link to the WMV version of this video (it is smaller, only 15 MB, and it is on the same German server.)

I wonder why it has not appeared on any of the Eidos sites. They should have been the first to post this video, and in the E3 2003 -Fully Loaded pop-up window on the Eidosinteractive.com site the Trailer tab in the AoD section still says that the trailer would be out on May 13. :rolleyes: Why is it necessary to raid the Eidos servers in order to obtain the latest updates? :eek:

Well, it seems the AI is not braindead completely (although I would not go so far as to call it even 'moderately intelligent').
Watch these screenshots, in the first picture you can see that Kurtis is fighting a single zombie, and then in the second pic you see that a second zombie has joined the first one and the two zombies are attacking Kurtis together, and his health bar is down to about 50 percent. However the third zombie in the background does not seem to be impressed by the ongoing battle (or maybe he is too 'fresh' from those hatching tanks, and he is a bit disoriented ;) ) and that's what makes me a 'little' worried about the AI. Maybe it needs just a little bit tweaking, maybe it needs much more to put it right.
