I'm very dissapointed. I haven't heard ANY good news at this E3. All 'impressions' articles were talking like there isn't anything impressive about AOD. They were only mentioning bugs, bugs and more bugs. Bah!!!
And the frustrating thing is that all the other games at E3 are SOOO amazing, SO impressive, SO cool etc.
Bah!!! Why can't AOD give that impression?!?!

Because of the TR legacy? (I can imagine that Mr. Big Review guy sighs at the sight of Lara and says: 'Oh no, yet another TR sequel.')

No, it's not that. They at least could be impressed by the graphics, the moves, the animation, the AI, the gameplay etc.
But no, nothing...

Boss - "John, Hank, you two go to the E3"
John - "Cool"
Hank - "Sweet"
Boss - "You, John, write me a review about Doom 3 and Half Life 2 and Enter The Matrix"
John - "yesssss" *Drool*
Hank - *grmblgrmblgrmbl* pisher
Boss - "You, Hank, write a review about Tomb Raider The Angel Of Darkness"
John - "Heeheehee"
Hank - "But Bosssssssssss, can't I write about Doom3? It's way cooler than Tomb Raider 500"
Boss - "Boys, you got your assignments. Now go. And don't forget to wash your hands."

Review: "Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness sucks. I'd rather play Doom3."
Hank

The controls suck, the A.I. sucks and the graphics are outdated. Well the list is almost complete. :( :o

Oh cmon Hank! You can at least be impressed after you left AOD at the E3. AOD could have killed your prejudices.

Tombraider: AOD Game Footage 1:

Oooh cmon, have you ever seen such a STUPID AI? HE DOES COMPLETELY nothing! He is just looking in the eyes of his killer.
In all trailers I saw untill now, the enemies are nothing more that peaces of wood to kill. :(

No, I don't know him but I know MANY people who think like he does.

I really hope (but doubt it) that core is making the game look bad at E3 on purpose to slam down all the high expectations every ones being getting, so once they realease the intended version of the game all the gamers will get way much more than they expected.

Better to have your expectations exceeded than demolished.

I dunno just a thought!

Etheral, I suggest you hold your judgement until playing the game for yourself next month. That is just a demo. It's hard to judge a game by a couple short reviews/videos from a beta demo.

Maybe, but the other demos seem to be impressing the reviewers, and some of them aren't even set to be released for a while. AOD is due out in a month, so I doubt we'll see any drastic improvements over what's already being shown.

On a positive note: Obviously most of us here like the TR games, and therefore, we obviously like outdated graphics and braindead AI, so AOD will just offer more of what we like (hmmm... that didn't sound so positive after all....)

Okay, let me try again: Assuming the game keeps the spirit of earlier TR games, but offers improved graphics (even just slightly improved), some new moves, a better story, and the ability to interact with other characters, then I think a lot of us here will enjoy it, even if it doesn't turn out to be the revolutionary game for which we had hoped. Let's just keep our expectations realistic.

Maybe AOD isn't giving a big impression because we saw it at the last E3, and people are more concerned about getting it than simply seeing it displayed. You can only watch a movie trailer so many times before you decide you've seen enough of it and it's time to see the movie itself; maybe the same mentality is in effect with AOD.

I say it is Hank's fault.

Yep, these are some of the worst, outdated graphics I have ever seen....................NOT!

We don't have an idea what build the E3 demos are from. Again, I suggest everyone here quit guessing and making assumptions on what they think the game is going to be like until they play it.

Every game gets the criticism. Believe it or not there are people out there who so lack a life they've been picking holes in the Half-Life 2 movies so far released. "The drones didn't cast shadows" -- "it doesn't look like the crowbar actually touches the planks when it breaks them" -- "Alyx so looks lke she's dubbed" -- "the striders look so fake man" -- "even Kurtis Trent has a cooler looking goatee than Gordon Freeman". You know, the usual stuff...

TRAOD stacks up well against most of the games there, esp. in graphics and ambience -- but even those games driven by Unreal2's Warfare engine were looking distinctly out of date by the time Valve had finished presenting the HL2 clips...

Agreed, but then we also shouldn't assume it will be good. I'd rather assume the worst and be pleasantly surprised. If I ignore all the negative previews and keep saying to myself, "They don't know what they're talking about, it'll be FANTASTIC!" then there's a good chance I'll be let down. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

Well, of course the guard doesn't spot lara, as she appears to be in stealth mode, and he shouldn't be able to hear her then...

No, the AI looks right in her face when Lara is smashing and killing here. You watched the wrong one. I'm talking about:

then look again at the health meter, he shocks her twice with that shocker thing he's holding in his hand. The animation is not that good though, since you don't see him really touch her with it, but none the less, she does get damage.

If you run the movie at full screen you can see it better and tell it's not a flashlight.

Must be only 12volts.

From every preview i have read (and ive read a lot) AOD is going to be a prettier higher budget tomb raider. Game play is suppose to be sorta bland and uninspired like previous game but puzzles, graphics, size of levels, sound are apparently taken up a notch. Dont expect anything revolutionary from AOD because its not going to give it. They say it will feel like previous tomb raiders because its largely a previous tomb raider on a new engine.

What get's me is people instantly groan "not another Tomb Raider". I don't understand this especially considering it's one of the biggest game phenomanan's ever and it sells by the bucket load.

There have been many other game sequels, using same character(s) and similar style of gameplay that always get's welcomed eg Zelda, Final Fantasy (what number they up to now. Double TR, I think), Mario, etc. Yes, all these games are of a high caliber but I never hear any bad predujices before their release. Wait until AoD is released, play it then make your minds up. In the meantime, stop whinging!!! Believe it not, work in progress IS literally work in progress.

I agree. TR is what we love. TR made us come to here, so we should jumb 6 meters in the air with AOD. The best TR game ever :D :D
