Wow! That was too cool. Except for the guy who threw up on the seat next to me and splattered me with vomit.
I wish they had included some of the backstory of the werewolves though.

Ewwww, YUCK!
Damn, I am jealous (except for the vomit part). I told my husband weeks ago that I wanted to see it tonight (opening night in these parts) and he said no, he doesn't want to sit in a crowded theater. He want's to wait till it's been out for a while. *sigh* But I want to see it now! I don't want to wait till everyone else has seen it already!! Guess I don't have much choice.

Yeah, I could have done without the vomit. But it was still a great film. I'm going to have to go again, maybe a week from today if I really get to take it off =).
Vampmaster: I was very surprised too, but it's pretty cool. You'll see =).

How lucky you are Blinc. (For the vomit, not the movie. :p)
I was going to see it after class last night, but didn't feel like it. I think I'll go tomorrow morning.

I loved it. Maybe nothing as obvious to revolutionize filmmaking like bullettime in the first, but it was still great. The crowded theater was awesome, can't get crowd reactions like that any other time. I went (there was a 10pm showing Wed) and am going again Friday. Great action, and comedy. Agree with your spoiler blinc, that would've been awesome.
Edit:Got the game right after the movie was finished and did anyone else notice in the credits. Under Voice talent is our very own Michael Bell. Neil Ross was listed too, the name sounds familiar. Wasn't he Vorador? Anyway, I haven't gotten far enough to hear Bell in the game, at least not that I've noticed, tho I hadn't been listening for it till today. The hacking in the game is cool. I recomment the game so far. Even the controls are good, and I don't normally like the TR-esque left analog stick movement style.

How were those twins? They look badass in the trailers.
And BTW, I am going tomorrow, and don't really mind spoiler-ish info. It's a whole different experience seeing it than it is when someone explains it, IMO).
Neil Ross was Malek. Paul Lukanther was Vorador.
Did you stay to finish the credits? Some other individuals have mentioned some scene after the credits, although not in great detail.
The Amazing Rando

The twins were kinda mellow in this one. They were buff, that's for sure, but they also didn't seem like they were trying too hard. One did make the comment about them starting to get PO'ed tho, so the next one should be interesting. It seems to me that they are ghosts, like blinc mentioned the warewolves.
Edit: Ah yes, Malek, duh. I knew he was in LoK.
BTW, it's a trailer for Matrix 3 after the credits. I started to wait for the credits, but I was too hyped for the game, so I left. The deciding factor was that I'm going with friends tomorrow. Last night I went alone, tho I ended up with a good seat. Anyone riding with me tomorrow is gonna just have to wait it out.

The Twins were cool, they fit in with my other spoiler. I wish all of their backstories were expanded on. Maybe in the Animatrix?
It's definitely worth staying for the trailer. Part 3 is going to be excellent IMO.
It looks like we'll get to see the Zion mech things in action =)

OMG  They showed that in the trailer blinc? I can't wait for tomorrow now. I've heard that Matrix 3 is gonna basically all be in the real world and is fighting between the races.
also, in the game (game &Matrix2/3 spoiler) there's a clip of a guy in the sewers or subway. By my guess, judging from where it seems to hit the beginning of the movie, this takes place shortly before Reloaded and well after the last Animatrix episode. Anyway, the guy said that last time Zion lasted 72 hrs. He's like the Watcher in the old Xmen comics or something.
I just want to say again, hacking in the game is just awesome. I've never had so much fun *not* playing a game before in my life, at least that I can remember. I just spent a couple hours, but I got everything I can up to this point. There's still so much to unlock as well, and to get used to some more of the commands tho. I love it.

Yeah, there were some brief shots in the trailer.
The game sounds cool. I was really impressed that it was done by the brothers as well, and has the real cast. I should check it out when I get my next paycheck =).

I am kind of up in the air about the addition of Jada Pinkett Smith to the cast. (She's not really one of my favorite actors). Please tell me she's not annoying. :p
As far as the game is concerned, I may check it out. I need something else to occupy my time with. :D

Well I suppose that's a plus then Rando. The fact that it's her perspective in the game is another thing that didn't appeal to me. It will probably be the reason why I wait for it to become a greatest hit.

Well, in the game you don't have to play as her. There's ghost instead, who's just as god a martial artist. About the only dif is that she drives in the missions, whereas Ghost shoots from the passenger side and is a sniper in a couple missions. It will let you get more stuff unlocked if you play as her, I think, but I'm not sure.

just so u know according to the directors of the films they say if u want to understand the movie better u should see the animatrix(9 short films that talk about the matrix back story) and play the game Enter The Matrix where u play as two other matrix characters where the story takes place during the same timeline as reloaded(i think).

According to Joel Silver (the producer) all the Matrix movies, Animatrix and the game all fit together so maybe the werewolves origins are explained in either Revolutions, Animatrix or the game.
I can't wait to see Reloaded which isn't out till...*thinks hard*...uh the 23rd. oh and aren't the twins those guys from changing rooms/homes with Carol Voderman? Not that I watch that *scoffs* I uhhh, read it up somewhere...

The game has just gotten better.
You get to see a cutscene with the werewolves. Then you get to fight vamps and ww's all over the mansion thing. It's providing for some sweet fighting, especially since you have to weaken them so that they can be killed with wooden steakes.
Anyone else got the Xbox version of the game?

If you do the hacking, you can watch it anytime, and that one is slightly different from teh one after the movie. Where did you find that Reaper? Rio's analysis of "The Matrix Reloaded," or, to borrow from Mel Brooks - "Matrix 2: The Quest for More Money."
"Oh look, they're fighting. Look, Neo's doing something cool... Now he's getting some... Now he's fighting again... Getting some... Nonsensical, totally un-researched computer babble here... Getting some... Fighting again... And look! They're using high-end special effects to distract us from the fact that the plot of this movie is still sub-par, the acting is atrocious, and the writing is juvenile! Wow, this movie is absolutely BRILLIANT, just like the first one, which incidentally was the SAME DAMN THING. I can't wait to throw my money away for the THIRD installment of this garb... I mean, AMAZING FILM!!!"
This movie is the same thing to me that the first one was - much like a Twinkie - lots of fluff, with little actual substance. Looks pretty on the outside - hurts your teeth on the inside.
BAH!!!

They actually did do most of the computer stuff right:
If you look at the screen in the power plant that Trinity hacks, she's using nmap (a real hacker tool), as well as exploiting a real flaw in ssh =).
But really, it is mostly about the action sequences. If I want to see something with a thicker plot, I'll fire up my Equilibrium DVD =).

I saw the movie Friday night. I was very impressed with it. The fighting scenes were a little...eh, but oh well. The ending wasn't as bad as a lot of my friends thought it was. Besides, the next movie's coming out in November, so it's not really that bad. My only complaint about the ending was that it was way too predictable.
What really made me mad was the fact that one parent's screaming child made it impossible to focus on the scene where Neo reaches the source.
Note: If I had gone to a show during the afternoon, it wouldn't be so bad, but I saw this at 11:30 pm.
The Amazing Rando
05-17-2003, 09:03 PM
Yeah, I never expected it to be a movie with a plot like LoK, but that's why I play games. :D Besides, what's wrong with Twinkies every once in a while. I found it entertaining, so that's all that matters to me.
I wasn't impressed with the cg people. I had read in Time or something that you weren't going to be able to tell when the person was cg, like the fact that 99 of the 100 Smiths in the battle were cg but I could tell most of the time. It wouldn't be such a big deal, after all, we gamers know cg when we see it, but I was with a non-gaming friend who could tell. It was fine for most of the normal fighting, but I wish they would've kept the actual actors for those seens instead, or done better cg work to make it more realistic. Besides, what are those actors getting paid for, anyway? :p
My one problem with the whole "computer babble" was that they sometimes didn't seem to know stuff they should. For example, Neo not knowing how a backdoor works. I don't know much about the stuff, but even I have some idea how the stuff works, and they're all supposed to be these uber-hackers. Just dumbing it down for the masses I suppose.

My understanding is that
everything in the "big brawl" scene is CG after the fighting starts.
I had trouble focussing on the Source scene too, because the gangstas next to me were being so loud.

Yeah, that's right, except I think there were a couple close ups of Neo where they actually used Keanu, but from what I had read in the mag earlier, Neo and one Smith was supposed to be real, but the cg wasn't supposed to be noticable. It was just a little too obvious for me, same with basically every explosion scene or when Neo catches people. Just more detail work on the faces and it should turn out perfect.
I'm actually pretty lucky tho, as the crowds when I went were good. No phones, except one during the previews, and the only annoying person was the guy behind me the second time who really didn't want to be there. :D Sorry to those of you who had to deal with annoying theater goers.

The whole front half of the theater was empty. My friends and I had the whole front to ourselves, and it was fairly quite. How could you not tell the Smith horde was CG incredibly easy. I mean, 10 of em whacked at once by a metal bar and you could just simply tell. Sure, it was good but obvious. The scene was great though. The Matrix is a movie i like for Agent Smith. Yes...........
The Amazing Rando
05-20-2003, 10:49 AM
Let me rephrase, you would know that they wer cg, but you weren't supposed to be able to tell which one was real out of the group of them. 2 real actors and all the rest fake. That's just what was in the article, saying the same thing about making cg cars, etc. You weren't supposed to be able to tell which were real. A lofty dream, I know, but I thought they'd do better than they did.

I saw it on opening day. I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with how the film was scored. The fight scene with Neo and Smith seemed ungodly cheesy because of the music they used... etc.
As far as the story goes I thought it was cool, I liked the movie, not quite as much as the first one... well let me rephrase it; I like Reloaded in different ways than I did Matrix.
There obviously wasn't the bang of finding out what the Matrix really was and little things like discovering that while they were in the Matrix all the blue was wiped and while in the real world had a blue saturation... didn't have the impact.
dislikes:
the CG wasn't used particularly well. Every time they went into a CG Neo fighting Smith I was able to tell, they didn't seem to match the grain enough, Same thing with every time an Agent did something over the top. To me it distracted from the story telling more than it helped (because I was aware of it and it bothered me).
The score was obviously not nearly as well implemented as the first... but I really don't like the idea of using a "soundtrack" for the score as the Matrix does it. I'd prefer a solid independent score. I realize that WB wouldn't make as much money because the soundtrack sells like hotcakes.... but goddamn it, it would make me happier.
This series is going to look extraordinarily dated in a few years with all the "ultra hip" costumes etc. ala The Warriors (1979).
Likes:
lots of "slaps in the face" i.e. when Neo speaks with the Architect or things you should have guessed like the Oracle being a program or the end
Excellent fight scenes
Wonderful adventure
Lots of excitement
good character development
lots of wonderful "little touches" i.e. Neo being viewed as a messiah in Zion
And it was a good cerebral outing (for an action flick).
I give it a 8.5 (out of 10)
Rio I think you're being too hard on it. The Matrix is nothing more than a big action flick... hell the Wachowski bros. never intended it to be anything else... they wanted it to be a "comic book come to life"... and that's what it is; more so than any other series before it.

Ok, I finally convinced my husband to take me out to see it. Only took a week, not bad, huh?
Well, just like the Fandango commercial before the flick, I found it a "visually appealing yet ultimately pointless" sequel.
Nice graphics, nice ass shot (though too quick) and good action. Story sucked. And that ending? *sigh*
Well, that's my opinion anwyay. I never expected it to live up to the first one. As for the next, I think I'll wait for the DVD.

I saw the matrix last night and I have to say I was AMAZED by it. I really enjoyed although the ending was not quite what I was expecting it to be.
I mean yes I knew it was going to be a to be continued ending, but I didn't expect Neo to stop the squidies. I also enjoyed the subtle humour which was placed in it as well where the guy's wife who is holding the keymaker says to him that it wasn't your lips she was kissing my love.
After all that though I really think I need to go and see it again as although I picked up a lot, I am still sure I missed a lot by what I have read in this thread.
I can't wait till november now!!!! :D

Morphius' speech was kind of OTT and I think the fight with the Agent Smiths dragged out too long but it was cool to begin with. I thought the key maker was funny. He had a key for everything. The bit with the architect was confusing, but it was funny watching the other 6 Neos where they all had different responses. In the part about back doors I think he was asking how they are represented in the matrix as opposed to the computers he would have used as a hacker. I guess I'm making excuses, but that bit was probably put in so the audiance would understand. Blinc, the only mention of werewolves was when the oracle commented on them unless they're in Revalations or something.

Actually when Monica Bellucci's character leaders Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus to the Mountain top Retreat the two bodyguards are werewolves. You'll recall she said "They are left over programs from an earlier version of the Matrix. My husband keeps them because they are notoriously hard to kill. How many people keep silver bullets in their guns?" and then shoots one while sending the other to bring back her husband.

It all seemed like extra over the top fluff to me but I still think that it was worth it. I'm not willing to judge until I've seen the third installment.
I just like the idea that zion is part of the matrix. At least that's the conclusion my friends and I came to.
As far as the game goes I can't seem to get into it. I'm still trying to get to the phone in the first act. Please tell me it gets more interesting?

I liked it very much. The ending I thought was well written out with the source and Neo.
liked the fight scenes, but I think they were diliberately holding back on this one. It seems they keapt hinting to more, then held back. I like it consisering it's the middle peice.
After seeing what Neo did at the end against the machines in the real world, I can't wait for the explanation and the continuation of it. I stayed for the credits so I know he starts out in a coma. Then later, fights Smith again, but the idea that in the real world he's somehow crossed over his abilities from the matrix is a fabulous idea.
Curently playing the game. Can't wait to find out what happens. Received a DVD containing one of the animatrix shorts with my preorder of the game, saw the other one on IGN. There is nine of them, huh? Guess it's another purchase I'll be making.
I hated the fight scenes. I loved the bit with the big metal pole. but all the fight scenes showed was that neo had to run away because he wasn't good enough to take smith out.
Reloaded is worth seeing for one thing:
the motorway scene. That was VERY impressive. Well apart from the fight on top of the truck. the bluescreen background was AWFUL
