Lo all. Ever since finishing Startopia I have tried to find a game similar to the way it plays. The closest game to startopia I have found is Dungeon Keeper. Is there any other games that are similar?
cheers!!

I've been trying to buy Populous 3 for ages but I can't find it anywhere.
I'd like to add Shogo: Mobile Armour Division and Septerra Core to the Cool Sci-Fi Games list. Also, Enemy Nations has been released for free for several years now. It's available on Australian's PC PowerPlay's CoverDisc! The demo for that was good. I hope the whole thing is...
(sings) I'm going to get it tonight! I'm going to get it tonight!

Australia have stopped iporting it. I think it was made in England so all the remaining copies are over there. I should check Amazon or something to see if they have it.

Heh, I had to buy it in one of those "2 for 1" deals with 2 old games for cheap. it came with Sim-Earth which is UBER-COMPLICATED! maybe if i understood the atomic mass number of the negativly charged ions in the hyperactive endoplasmic reticulum that occurs during the process of the making of cheese it would be easy.. I really just wanted populus tho, but i thought it would be more like a god-thing... where your the god of the primitive little people who worship you ect. (thats why I got black and white btw, too much creature crap though:mad: .)

Cheers for the replys guys. I forgot about Theme Hospital, that was great when it came out. I never completed it though, got too hard.
I have Populous The Begining though, so I'll give that a go. Bought it ages ago and never really played it.
"Pharaoh" by Sierra Studios & Impression Games is older than Startopia, and much simpler in both plot and graphics, but it's still really fun. It's sort of like Dungeon Keeper I only in Egypt and with more stuff to do.

If you want a game form the City Builder Series, as Pharoah is(which in my opion is badly pulled off but still worth a rainy day) then go for Master of Olympus, it has to be the best one of the series.
There is a more recent one called Emperor: Battle for China or some such, though "If Master of Olympus was two steps forward then Emperor is one step backwards"
Though don't discount the classic, Cesaer III. It is still a great game and one of my favourites.

Emperor is far better than Zeus in my opinion. Zeus' story was fragmented, inconsistant, and meaningless. In Emperor you feel like you're creating something great. And I like the challenge of Feng Sui in Emperor. I haven't played Pharaoh or Caesar though, so I can't compare it to them.

No, you are all wrong. Dungeon Keeper II is vastly superior to the city-building series. You'll find out why after that skeleton over there gets the jack-pot soon...
(Dungeon Keeper III would be nice, although the original still oWnZ U...)

Agreed. Although the Sand Box is a little limited. I think StarTopia does the city building better with visitors rather than just residents.
And Dungeon Keeper III has been... been... <sob> cancelled! <waaaaaaah!>

Zeus never had a story, it was just the old greek legends adapted to city building. I thought it was pulled off rather well. Though Asian culture has never realy interested me, so to each their own I guess.
And it is realy a great shame DKIII was cancelled, perhaps Mucky Foot could take it up? Hey, perhaps they could also do a remake of Theme Hospital, bring it up to modern graphics add in new features, improve AI and such. How about that Mucky Foot?

They are both by impressions and are both part of the City Builder series. They are a lot of fun and they are similar because they are follow ons.

Not bad. Not worth the US$20 registration fee, though. Perhaps US$10 or US$15. I'm sure he's put a lot of work into, and it shows, but the gameplay is fairly limited.
Yes, Pharaoh can get extremely boring on some levels...I find myself skipping many missions just for something new and interesting to do. The beginning levels were much more exciting; new challenges and things to build and what-not. Did I mention I hate constructing monuments? But I've definitely gotten my $2 out of it. I haven't tried any of the other Citybuilding series, although I'd like to.

Hey, could you add Galactic Civilization (http://www.galciv.com) to the list of cool games? That is one kick ass game.
Wait, DK III is cancelled! DK II was the reason I got Startopia! *Starts crying until the server short circuits*
