I'm having alot of trouble keeping the freaking heros alive, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a clever little strategy that would help.

Thanks,

In certain missions I was able to leave a hero at or near the starting position in the woods.

In other missions, you need them to recruit troops, so just always keep them back from the action with a troop to protect. Hotkey them is the best way to move them around.

Can't recall any specific mission where it was hard to keep a hero alive. Which one are you having trouble with friend?

I always hotkey my Hero units (ctrl then a number) so I can always access them really quikly if Im in a tight spot.

Also I usually either bung them in the woods if they are too valuable to use in battle or keep them in the rear just outside the action taking place in a battle -usuallly isnide the archers.

Actully, the first mission ;)
I had to restart it twice because the stupid druid kept on dying. I finally got him to last the mission through constructing a tower (manned by archers) and keeping a group of leigonaries handy (the tower ws near a town.

Centuarians are easy to protect by just shoving in your villages, but every body else...

Medics will automatically go heal injured troops. So it is not unusual for them to go to the frontlines, and if your fighting troop or troops are killed so goes the medic.

Therefore, consider putting him on hold (you can auto-hold) to keep him from doing this. After the battle, un-select the hold so he can go heal the remaining troops.
