I woke up Saturday morning, I had my mind made up, or so I thought. I had planned on driving to a favorite little Antique town of mine, about an hour and a half from Dallas. Gonna let the wind take me where ever.
I got on the road, and a few miles outside of Dallas, I remembered our local Renaissance Faire here, happens every spring. Scarbourough Faire. A great time indeed. I had only been there once last year. OK, I am gonna go. I think I know the exit. Ha. There it is. Parked the art mobile, and proceeded to walk to the gate. You see all kinds of people dressed up, it's really cool to see all the different types of costumes, and the people too, I like to people watch. ;-)

When you walk in, there are all kinds of vendors, palm readers, food, a chain mail shop, a mask shop, pictures, candles, masks, tights, does anyone need tights? Oh look, the local turtle race was about to begin. Hehe. I turned the corner and there was a knight talking to a little boy, his parents were snickering at the antics the Knight was giving their son. He dubbed him a page, and asked that he be there for the next joust, half past the hour. Yes sir. What lad I can't hear you! YES SIR! Carry on then. :)

I walked by the one vendor, she made glass pieces, pendants, etc, some with Runic symbols on them. I was drawn to them, very thiefy. I bought one, the symbol stood for wisdom, peace. The girl started to explain glass to me, and sometimes what happens to glass, you might get a fissuer in them. After she got done with her speech, I told her, I know all about glass, its properties, how it reacts, we ended up talking shop. I can't get away from my shop talk. :p

The feeling as you walk around is unlike no other, I saw a few keepers walking around, maidens of course, Knights, and some guards, peasants, King, Queen, court jesters. Man I want a costume!! You can rent them when you get there. Some of the costumes where just fabulous. Cept, I wanted mine to be different, I wanted to be a thief, or something. I have browsed costume shops before, nothing really hit my fancy. I am not the maiden type. :p I wanted something different.

I saw a shop named The Pendragon. A WONDERFUL costume shop, I must have spent an hour in there. Best costumes I have seen yet.

A woman walks up, wearing a gorgeuos dress on, "Good day m'lady, can I help you." "Yes you certainly can." I described to her what I wanted, sort of a Thief, but not quite. "Oh you want a Thief Rogue, kinda sexy, bit sultry maybe? Uh huh...That's it!

www.pendragoncostumes.com. I had more fun in this place. Check out this little number. Heh.
http://www.pendragoncostumes.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=pendragon&Product_Code=sea_queen_w%2Ffrockcoat&Category_Code=sea_queen This is more my style. Heh. LOVE this outfit, cept I am not gonna shell out $700.00 for it right now. Besides, all that leather, damn it be hot walking around in this thing, unless it was the middle of Janurary.

The quality of the leather, and the tooling the bodices had were wonderful. I ended up trying on a plain bodice, leather with a chemise, very nice. The girl helped lace up the front, and *ACK* *I can't breath!* Is it suppose to be this tight? Yes, you get used to it. Hhmmm, you do? good lord I thought. Man no wonder people died at a younger age back then, they can't breath with all the garments that are worn. Oh look, no wonder the boobs are right there. Uuumm, it was interesting to say the least. LOL!!! The bodice I am going to get, I haven't decided yet, there are sooo many to choose from, I do like this one. http://www.pendragoncostumes.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=pendragon&Product_Code=griffin_metal&Category_Code=metal_bodices

I may go just leather, with the tooling in the leather, I don't know. I did purchase some tights, black with a 3 inch see through panel with a black scroll going up the sides, and a chemise. The chemise is very nice, it is similiar to this one, Yes it does close...:p http://www.pendragoncostumes.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=pendragon&Product_Code=womens_partlet&Category_Code=chemises I ordered a different trim on it. Real rich looking red and gold trim. The sleeves are open, and off the shoulder. It fits under the bodice. I also got, I believe you call them Vambrace, a piece of armour that covers the fore arms. Brushed steel plates that wrapped around my forearms, held on with leather straps. What can I say, I was having a ball with this stuff. :D

Out of all the costumes, I have seen, this place is right in my own backyard, the quality of the leather is wonderful. Heavy duty thick leather, the tooling I saw on the bodices is great, nice to see all those designs. They have something for everyone!!

Well of course it is somewhat expensive stuff for a Thief to work in...:D but I do like the Bodice/stomacher thing a lot! Like your choice of Griffin design too! However, I don't mind wearing leather anytime as I have skirts, jackets and suede things as well and wear them as many times as I have the opportunity to do so...just less now that I'm retired :( Wish I could go shopping with you as it sounds like great fun! ;) Also as bravus said...be sure to take/post pictures of final results :) Ta and Good Hunting!

Thanks everyone, all of the costumes that I saw were just beautiful. Everything was great to look at, the men's as well as the ladies garments. The dresses were very pretty, but not for me. ;) :p

The girl that helped me said, well you can't scale a wall with a long dress on can ya, since your a thief! Nope.

If anyone wants a costume, this place has it. :)

Picture will be later, I have not yet gotten my bodice yet, I don't know which one to get! Of course I seem to always choose the more expensive one. I will have to wait and see, I don't know!

One thing I might do, since the company is based out of Arlington TX, which is practically right next door to me. I am going to pick up my chemise. I may talk to them, there is an option to create your own costume. I may talk to them about adding some chain mail to the bodice. They have the Sea Queen outfit, which is wonderful. But, they need another one.......more Thiefy. Maybe some chain mail along the bottom, I don't know. Heh.
The girl I talked to, we started talking about Thief, she had heard of it. So, I shall see what I can do. ;)

Looks good BA.....I'd like to see the leather pants fit more snug than how they fit the manikin in the picture. The extra material might snag on a windowsill. :D

You got that right littlek, I did try on the leather britches, they are *TOO* baggy. Not my bag. :p Even in the smallest size they had, too baggy. :\

So, tights it is.

G'day, milady! Yeah, the bodice with the metal design looks cool. The sea queen does look roguish, but I also think the courtesan has the sultry look, too. I'm not sure why you'd need a tie-on cod piece, but it would allow some horseback riding! :p Nonetheless, my vote goes for the tights! :D

BA, that sounds like so much fun to go to. They are holding the Renaissance Festival here during every weekend in May. I have never been to one, so I plan on going this time.

Those are really neat costume pieces too. I like your Sea Queen choice. I like that frockcoat. It has a sexy, classy look to it. :thumb:

About that third piece... ;)

Hey hey, remember that *THIRD* piece goes UNDER a frock, or leather bodice. ;) :p
