Just a short post based on an evening of online play I enjoyed a week or so ago on GameSpy.

I had played a gamer named theBasherd a while ago and lost. But we enjoyed each other's gameplay and company that we put ourselves on our buddy lists. Anyway, he and I battled again and I won both contests - now he's a great player so this was very satisfying.

In the first game, he had burnt all but two villages which he controlled, and had me held up in just one village. But the population limit was high (800), and I fortified myself well with towers. Even though he sent everything he had, over and over again - including those aweful Praetorians (nasty to us Barbarians), I ended up winning the game an hour or so after we started - he loss too many troops and population - by sneaking up to his villages and burning him out.

Never give up ! Never surrender !

He and I had a great team game or two afterwards by playing as a team. So many play it solo and lose. Coordinate your efforts and combine your forces at strategic locations, such as central villages with high populations.

Anyway, must be going. Almost done campaign, just 3 missions left.

I have a 56k, and don't notice too much lag, just depends on who the host is. Then again I do get kicked from a game because no one wants a guy with my ping.

As to how I do, when me and my teamates do work together well a win is usually guaranteed. Like, for example, on my favorite map, the one with the hill in the middle with forests on both sides of the hill and 4 villages around the hill...(sad, i know that i dont remember the name, been a few weeks since i played). If we all capture the hill first and keep working together and securing the side villages as well, we have the game under wraps.

I have to agree, teamwork is a must.
