In ''Lara Croft: Tomb Raider- The angel of darkness'' Lara is finnaly back, but as a spooky person.
I really hope that this will be the last chapter of this ''Lara's dissapearence'' story, because the last game with a normal story was ''Tomb Raider 3: Adventures of Lara Croft''( except the games for GBC and GBA)!

When you say 'normal' you mean a very linear story. Although all stories of the first three Tomb Raider-games are interesting, one cannot deny that the story of Tomb Raider IV and V were so much better simply because they were different from the everyday-adventuring of the Tomb Raider I, II and III. These latter ones are very much alike and it's a blessing for the Tomb Raider-series that Core is taking this saga to the next level.
One cannot go on with the same formula on and on, you know ...
Anyway, I wouldn't set your hopes too high. Lara Croft is about to face some hard and strange times in her future adventures. She's about to get a colleague-adventurer (Kurtis Trent), her mentor is being killed and it'll take about three to four games to eventually get to the bad guy rather than just one. So, this linear games that you're asking for (like part I-III) are history, my friend. They're very good games and I'll always enjoy them, but it's impossible to get the same success with that kind of a gameplay these days. People simply demand more and Core has to answer to that sort of a supply ... If they don't - Tomb Raider is history and so is Lara Croft! And you wouldn't want that, now would you?
here ends the lesson ...
bye for now

exactly why them making Lara a more darker person is a brilliant idea. im glad Lara has "changed" because its something different and even tho you maybe a die hard Tomb Raider fan, you have to admit you'll end up getting bored with the same old tomb raiding. now lara is tomb raiding, but in a different way.
and its not going to be the last chapter, there are going to be 4 more after AoD i believe.

At least 4 more (concerning Eckhart), but hopefully lots more than that! I wonder if we're only going to see 3 to 4-chapter games from now on or whether this is just an exception. Maybe after AOD and its future sequels have taken an ending, Core will go back to the one-chapter-game. Personally, I don't really mind what they do ... as long as they do it! ;)

i think that if they stop making Tomb Raider games and maybe think theyre going to end lara and lets just say make only games with kurtis or another character, then i think core will have gone too far and the games will become rather stupid. but i dont really know this for sure sicne i havent played kurtis in the game yet.
anyone else agree??

Well, you were right, I guess.:o
But if Kurtis is playable in the new game, this wil not be good. I have recently watched a documentary about Tomb Raider games, and a guy from Eidos was saying that it would be easier to make one playable man, and one playable woman, but they decided to make it something better, something special.
Just think about it: Tomb Raider with a playable guy! It won't be the Tomb Raider we knew before. Esspecialy if Eidos continue the games only with him. Yes, it would be a good thing for the game to have an extra character( for helping Lara) but not as a playable person.

If I had my way they'd still be popping out TR2/3 games.

Let's just put it this way: Tomb Raider is Lara Croft, and it cannot work without Lara, (though Lara can still work without Tomb Raider, maybe as Tekken character....joking :D ). And Eidos/Core know this, they can make a video game exclusively for Kurtis (franchise, franchise, franchise) but for one, it will always exist as a Tomb raider's and Lara's shadow. We are talking about one of the best selling games of all times, and the most popular video game character in the world... even more than that she is a star, a public personality, she gives them money! They won't just make her disappear

I agree, because if nintendo can make Mario for about 15 years, Core can do the same with Lara.

EEEEEEEEW!!!
You like the old storylines better!?!??!
I can predict 10 more stories in the TR universe if it was still going along the same way.
1. "An artifact of great power has been taken hostage by a strange and mysterious civilization"
2."A strange object of unimaginable has been believed to dwell in a remote location"
3."Lara and others are after a location of supposed mystical power, she must travel to exotic locations in an attempt to find this supposed place of great mystery"
4."The legends of the mysical caca of cacaland are true, and lara takes it upon herself to discover it"
And it goes predictably on and on and on... I think AOD is finally resh, original, and exciting. Like the first game was!!!
Now it's the movies that need a script-lift.
