View Full Version : Mouse Acceleration/Stutter due to frame-limiting

Hey guys, I bought Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Steam, to find that it runs at such a high frame-rate that it causes my PC to overheat. I tried limiting the frames to 60fps using DXTory, as I do in Dead Island; but it's giving me slight stutters and mouse lag. I've also tried enabling V-Sync but I get extreme mouse acceleration. I was just wondering if there were any alternatives to DXTory, or perhaps another way to keep my PC temperature down? I tried using MSI Afterburner to cap my frames to 60, but this one also causes the game to stutter and lag. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK there is no mouse acceleration in DXHR.
Maybe it's some kind of lag? I read that SSAO can worsen mouse-lag for some people, try turning it off for a test.
Also play around with values for X and Y-Axis sensitivity, they can have different values, resulting in wonky controls.
You can try enabling VSync in the Nvidia driver if you have a NVidia card, but I don't know if that will be any different.
If your PC is really OVERheating (as in producing artifacts/shutting down, etc.) you should better check your cooling:
Clean the fans and heatsinks, make sure the airflow in the case is not blocked, etc.
Yes, more shader effects will increase latency. SSAO is fairly slow as an effect and will add a noticeable delay to input response even with v-sync disabled. Turn it off if the lag bothers you.
