Hello, I used to watch my brother play a couple of Hitman games but I never picked them up.
Hitman: Absolution looks like a great game to me so I'm really interested in playing the game. However, I have some questions about this game and hopefully some of the Hitman vets or someone who helped work on the game can shed some light.
As I said I'm new to the series. Is Absolution a sequel or can I pick the game up without having to worry about past canon, plots, characters etc? I have no real interest in picking up previous Hitman games unless there is some type of HD collection ala MGS, so where can I learn more about the story to pull me up to speed?

Absolution is a sequel, and there are alot of plot point that you have missed if you haven't play the other titles, but here is a link to a Hitman Wiki

I honestly recommend you to play all the four games, before jumping into Absolution, as you have to learn exactly what Hitman means. Every part has its own upsides and downsides, but in order to understand Hitman at its finest, you should play all the games.

However I am very sure you can pick up Absolution without being clueless and confused by not having played the previous versions so don't worry too much.

OK, the thing is I hate picking up older games unless they are from the SNES and GENESIS era. Anything else and I just cringe and can't get into it. I was able to get into Crysis 2 and Killzone 2 without playing the previous versions, and if this is a sequel I would be better served if I started from the begining. Are there any words of an HD collection or something like that?

Travis told us, there are no current plans for an HD collection. You don't need to play any of the games before Blood Money to be up to date. They never had an insanely deep story; rather mission here, mission there.
Pick up Blood Money and enjoy it. You'll easily get used to the feel of the game. If it helps, it's somewhat tied into Absolution pertaining to Diana.

Honestly....don't bother with the previous games. They haven't aged well at all and if you are concerned about the plot in the franchise...don't be. The narrative in all the games was not that great and was basically a way to connect all the missions.
Buy Absolution for the gameplay. The game itself should fill in the larger story gaps. And if you want the backstory....theres the Wiki for you.
Hope this helped.

Kilzone don't have a proper storyline xD, it's up to you but if you wanna feel the real hitman experiance then you should try atleast Blood Money because BM tells who created him and why that he is sush a good assasin etc etc, you can complete it in one day if you want on rookie just to catch the story behind it ;) OR you could watch the cutscenes (if there are) on YT

Since "chicken*********" doomed to die at the hands of "someone" in the next game, only Hitman Codename 47 can give the reasonable answers on the questions: why should 47 do it and why should he burn down this ******* agency?
