Hello fellow raiders

Yes, it's this thread, I'm hoping someone member or moderator (Driber :p)
can tell me if Lara is 'fresh' out of college (as in she maybe had a few gap years until finally going to college) or is she actually 'fresh' out of university and it's just a simple trans-Atlantic misinterpretation?

will this be clarified or will it be popping up in game? or?...

I know it's only petty but things like this break immersion for me

any thoughts?

cheers peeps and keep raiding :)

I hope it's fresh out of University which will make much more sense to the Brits and to Lara's character. CD haven't made it very clear yet as to the extent of Lara's education, intelligence and ancestry. I really hope that they haven't changed her whole background out of fear of making Lara look like a spoilt rich kid because that'll just be depressing.

It was actually explained in the GI article (way back) that Lara is fresh out of an academy specializing in archeaology. She didn't go to a regular university or college, but it's the same general idea of this being her first expedition immediately from graduating.

The dates fit with Lara finishing school/college at 18 and doing three years at Uni which gets her to the 21. After so much study many students want to get out there and travel round the world. College in Britain usually refers to the years of 16 to 18 (A-levels) but I think that almost certainly what they mean is University. Lara is of the intellegence where she would go to uni and the part term bar work idea Karl said said in the podcast fits with something a Uni student does rather than an 16-18 under the legal drinking age.

When it comes to Lara's heritage I think they should keep her wealth especially the ever popular Croft Manor and Winston the butler. I know Karl said they may decide to get rid of all that but I honestly that he if does that's completely stupid. Part of Lara's charm is the upper class sophistication and elegance that her background brings. There is this great contradiction of Lara having so much money and potentially a very sheltered life and this want to take dangerous risks having this incredible passion to get out there. It enriches Lara and so I strongly hope Karl decides to keep it.

exactly what i was thinking, which is what slightly confused me and prompted me to make this thread

@abobe sooo, she is fresh out of an academy then?

you reckon more light will be shed on this at a later date?

Have they still not corrected the web site after all this time? Bit surprised by that, honestly...

So far from what I can see none of the feedback about the website has been acted upon, all the mistakes you and I pointed out are still there :(

I thought Lara was doing one of those 'Sea-mester' things.

A shame. Still, we did our best to help, so...

Well, given Lara's background it would make sense for her to have gone to Oxford/Cambridge University and been a boarded member of one of the colleges there, whilst she did an archaeology degree.

For the love of God, don't do a Batman & Robin on us (where Batgirl comes back from being at the Oxbridge Academy in London...)! Keep Lara (and the world) grounded in a veneer of reality!

I do hope they don't get rid of Lara's 'posh' trappings; they are part of the character's core, and make it easy to explain how she can afford to do everything she does. And her cut-glass accent's not really the product of local grammer school education. It smacks of private schooling and a decent university.

I could imagine Lara studying Ancient history or something similar at a British Uni. College wouldn't be enough for an archiologist
