Saved game files not working

Alright, so I went over to a friend's house for the weekend and started a new game of Deus Ex from his PC. I played the game for quite a few hours, loved it so much that I decided to buy it. I found the Saved Game files and copied them to my USB. I went home and bought the game, then tried putting the GAMER1 file into the save directory.

I then loaded the game up and clicked "Load". I see the saved game there, but when I choose it I get an error:

"The downloadable content required to play this saved game appears to be missing. Please redownload it and try again."

Is there any way to fix these saved game files so that they work with my version? I believe my friend had the preorder version, and I really would like to convert the saves so they work with the Augmented Edition. Is there any way this can be done?

I really don't want to start all over, as I had just killed the first boss (Barret i think) on the hardest difficulty.
Or, if anyone else has a save game around this same area and difficulty I would definitely appreciate it if you could upload and post the link.

So to sum it up, how would I get a preorder saved game file to work with the regular/augmented version? Surely there's a way to convert between the two?
