Thief 2: The Metal Age now on GOG.com

that's good news but keep in mind that what you are getting at GOG.COM are executables that have been modified by DDFix 1.3.11...which some reports indicate will not run properly on some ATI graphics cards without dropping back to a much earlier driver or perhaps won't work at all. But, for just $10 I suppose it's worth the risk.

It's very sad that Eidos won't repackage the original executables with a simple game launcher that sets the CPU infinity and runs as Administrator (believe it or not this is all that needs to be done for them to work flawlessly on all PCs)...they are missing out on a great opportunity to create some good will with the Thief Fans. They don't even have official offerings for Deadly Shadows much less Thief II and TDP as evidenced here: http://eidos.com/games?key=Thief

Yes, it is sad, because I just now realised through what troubles you must go to play T1&2 on Win7. I installed it 2 weeks ago, and one of the fist things I tried to install were the Thief series. None of them worked, and while the fix for TDS worked easy, I still can't get the other two to run...

I got the Thief: The Compleate Collection on ebay. It has all three games (Thief Gold) and cost only 15$

I bought both games on GoG.com and they run exactly the same as the The Complete Collection (only gog has ddfix already in it and doesn't ask for CD), namely T2 runs, but TGold runs, despite widescreen patch, in a tiny window and launching a mission has the screen just black (after the intro video and menu).
Widescreen patch works with T2, but TGold just keeps the small resolution and windowed mode and can't be played.

Wonder why I re-bought it, expecting it to work the way the complete collection did not.

Any ideas how to get Thief Gold running?


Edit: I checked again, TGold complete collection actually runs, but resolutiosn and widescreen doesn't work, it is the old TGold folder from my XP machine that is as broken as GoG's TGold. That is disappointing.


Edit 2: I reinstalled and just edited cam.cfg and ddfix.ini to have the needed resolution. TGold was again in windowed mode and didn't run, T2 had error and crashed once I started the mission. So I have to use the widescreen patch still, which works in T2, but TGold still doesn't work.
