View Full Version : [X360] "The missing link" language issues

I play Deus Ex on XBOX 360 and have just downloaded The missing link DLC. Here's the problem I encountered:
I live in Russia and due to poor quality of local translations I ordered the English version of the original game. It ran perfectly, the audio and interface were in English. Yesterday I downloaded The Missing Link, launched it and discovered it's interface was in Polish :eek:. Why would this happen? My console's language is English, and I've even changed it's location to UK as well, but it doesn't seem to help.
I'm considering deleting the DLC and download it again, but I'm not sure it can help, not to mention the time needed. I'd be very grateful if anyone can come up with an idea how to fix it.

Hello? Anybody? More than 70 views and no answer? No one even said "seems like your game and DLC versions are incompatible."

I have been asking a similar question for over a week and received no response at all. (in my case is PS3 but the same problem with languages).
I think that you have to download the DLC from the english Store (UK), but as I said, no-one is giving me an answer..... and I have even contacted Eidos and Square Enix.

Hey! Thanks for the reply! That's the conclusion I came to as well.
I've figured out that the matter is games' different regions. After fruitless searching in the web I gave up and started playing the DLC in Polish. Since the voice is English, and I can barely understand the basic phrases in Polish, I managed to play. Uunlocking the first achievement proved my suspicions. It's name was displayed in Russian, while all the achievements in the original game were in English. I think that the DLC available in my region does not support Enlish, and my game's version does not support Russian. Hence the problem. Polish uses latin alphabet, so that's why it's used.
By the way, does anybody know, how can I buy the UK versdion of the DLC? I mean I payed for it, and I wouldn't like to pay again. Is there a way to get access to global Xbox Marketplace?

I don't know how the Xbox marketplace works, sorry.
In the case of the PS3 store I think that I would have to buy it twice, since there is no global store. Still waiting for the reply of the messages I sent to Eidos/Square Enix support....
I imagine too that it has to do with regions, but it should be the same for Region 2, however it appears to be fragmented... at least the DLC works, as in many cases DLC's simply not work.

Thanks! I'll write there as well. Although I've already done a third of the DLC :nut:, I seem to play it again, so I hope the solution will be found.

Well, I sent my request to the Square Enix tech support and got the answer.
The DLC download will default to the region of your Xbox Live account. Unfortunately there is not much we can do to address this
So if you find yourself in similar situation, there's nothing could be done aside from buying the game for your local region. Think I'll just continue playing the DLC anyway, as I find it pretty good, and if there are new DLC I'll buy second-hand localized DX:HR.
