Last time I actually played DX:HR was early Monday morning. Today it's all about this message and it looks like the few other steam games I have, are running normally. It's just DX:HR that's giving trouble all of a sudden.
Does this have to do with the new DLC or the patch that came out a few hours ago? Why the hell is this happening all of a sudden? Ugh another steam-drm horror story.

Did you see if it actually downloaded the patch for you?

It may have, but I'm not sure. I saw it download something for TF2, but not DXHR. Is there anyway to confirm if it actually downloaded the patch for DXHR?
I've done some searching for any oddities. Something is fishy, I'm not seeing any .exes in the root "deus ex - human revolution" steam folder. I remember the leak having some .exes for win7 and xp. Other steam games have .exes as well. I'm starting to think that either an anomaly in the game or steam has somehow resulted in the removal of the .exe used to run the game. Is it possible to get a look at a "deus ex - human revolution" steam folder to make a comparison?

If you browse the steamapps folder you'll see the Deus Ex folder, and the DXHR.EXE file.. if you right click on it and check properties/detail you will see the version number of the exe.

Well in my case, it's probably steamapps\common\deus ex - human revolution. And that's the folder with the "Bigfile" and crash files. There is no dxhr.exe file in there. I've also done a file search on my hdd and it didn't turn it up. Like I said in my previous post, I believe that either an anomaly in the game or in steam has somehow resulted in the removal of the .exe used to run the game.
The chances of myself getting rid of it by accident is nil, since I haven't messed with the stuff in my recycle bin(or cleared it) for over a month, and no, it's not in there either.

If theres no exe then its not done the final part of the process, which is where it will download the exe for you.. Which region are you connecting to, this is in your properties section for the client.. try, verifying game cache again

Ok dude, I assume I'm in the NA region of steam, which is the closest region. I live in Trinidad, which is like 4+ hours away on a plane. Don't really mess around with steam that much. Anyway, I went through the process of verifying the cache like you said, and then it downloaded something(could this be the patch?), successfully launched the game and now it looks like I'm back in business. So I can continue my anti-praxis run.
I was hoping I wouldn't have to reinstall the game, and risk losing settings and stuff. So thanks a lot for the help with those blistering fast replies. :)
