Kain can goto Spectral

I was fighting with Kain (the 1st battle , when he has the reaver) , when I noticed this . I had shift at will on . Right after he tried to teleport ie when he started to fade away and before he was gone completely I shift to spectral , and what I see , a full Kain who is again fading away . Aparantly Kain doesnt want Raziel to know he can goto Spectral , cause when i go to spectral right after he starts to , I see him there and he seeing me , he straight away tries to go back to Material , when I go back to material , I see him where he left off (teleporting) .

I try some more experimenting on this .:)

Well it's possible that Kain can pass to the Spectral realm, some of the brothers do that (Zephon, Melchiah and Dumah), so why not Kain? If you consider Teleporting, you can consider a trip to the Spectral, i mean, Teleporting is changing (disappear is the correct word) from one place to another in a few seconds, well we know another being that do the same...Raziel, yes, try when you are fighting go to Spectral and then go to material and see the enimy at the same place executing the same move...
Yes i think that Kain's teleport is somesort a trip to the spectral realm, and if i don't get wrong, in the SR uncut when you absorve a part of Kains soul, you would be granted with the "Shift At Will" ability...

And, i would like to see a screenshot too :)

In the SR1 manual, it says that clan leaders(Kain, Raziel, Turel, Dumah, Rahab, Zephon, and Melchiah)have an ability to shift into the Spectral Realm at will for a limited time.

My guess for their limited time is that if they stay there for too long, they will be trapped there for eternity.

And KainSyndrome101, i don't recall to read that in the SR manual :confused: , and Dumah is always on spectral as he on material, and Melchiah too, Zephon are only one sec there...

I just went back and checked the manual, and it is in there on the page titled The Spectral and Material Planes on the third section down.

Oh, i see it now, thanks Jedilvr, but anyway, i think they are refering to Zephon and the manual says:"Raziel must face a different set of enemies in each Realm. Some of the Clan Leaders even have the limited ability to shift between planes" like i stated in the last post.

I ll try and get some more Screenshots . I have seen a non - translucent Kain in Spectral , but he only stays there are for a moment , then he becomes translucent again and dissapears .

It will take some time though , I have to do a Geog Project (Deserts :rolleyes: ) .

I think this is just so that you can't be right next to him when you go material again. It's so you can't use the spectral realm to sneak up on him.

This is exactly what it says in the manual:


"Different creatures inhabit the Material and Spectral Planes - vampires and humans exist in the Material Plane; enemies like the Sluagh and Vampire Wraiths exist only in the Spectral Plane. Clan Leaders have a limited ability to shift between planes, but only momentarily."

That's taken straight from the Soul Reaver manual on page 17, fourth paragraph.

That's what I always figured Kain's teleporting was, way back in the forum's old days... but they ridiculed me for even suggesting it... Great screenshots!

Isn't it said somewhere that Cain ventured into the
underworld to retrieve souls to resurrect his children as
vamps. If this is true then Cain would have to be able to
"go spectral" since the enterance to the underworld is
closed unless you are in the spectral realm! I could be wrong
but I really don't think so.
