View Full Version : Majestic 12 In DXHR?

In the original DX, Majestic 12 was a group led by Bob Page that splintered away from the Illuminati. Their soldiers wore distinctive black and red armor. We know Bob Page is in DXHR, but is MJ-12?

Are these guys MJ-12 or are they Belltower or something else entirely?

They do seem to have a similarity to MJ-12 from the original DX.

Okay, aside from the red and black color scheme, they don't really have any visual similarities.

However, in the E3 2011 trailer, when Adam asks Barret why FEMA is involved, Barret replies with "You got worse enemies than FEMA" or something along those lines. Maybe I'm just seeing something that isn't there, but they seem like MJ-12 to me since they don't look like other Belltower mercs that have been seen in other vids, and they obviously aren't cops or military.

Considering how many links there are to original Deus Ex characters and groups, I'd say it's highly likely that MJ-12 will appear, either directly or in precursor form.

It would be great if we got to see MJ12 in this game. They were one of my favourite groups in the original Deus Ex. The secret MJ12 base has got to be one of the most enjoyable levels in DX1 for me.

I reckon we'll see the early days of MJ12, probably the beginning of it. I mean, you need some interesting bits in the storyline that DX1 players can refer to, and whats better than the birth of the antagonist?

The real life MJ12 conspiracy theory puts their founding at the Roswell crash. In the Deus Ex universe, they've been around for just as long.

We won't see their early days, but they might make an appearance. Will they be peaceful members of the Illuminati or already starting to have conflicts? That we have yet to know.

Look at DX:HR image in the OP, and then look at a Deus Ex MJ12 Commando. It's either a massive visual nod to the original (like, 'these are the commando's of our game') or they're going to be somehow connected.

(Also the screenshot of the MJ12 trooper in the science lab is exactly where I am in my playthrough at the moment).

We've seen Bob Page in trailers, and he's a member of MJ-12, so ...

In the DX fiction the Illuminati is supposed to be getting weaker around this time, paving the way for the MJ-12 takeover, so we might see some of that playing out.

Am I the only one who doesn't really see much of a resemblance? They're both largely grey: that's body armour for you. They've both got a bit of red, sure, but in completely different places, and red is hardly a rare colour. It's not really a particularly striking similarity, seems more of a coincidence to me.

I always found it odd that in the future armies would do away with camo fatigues instead of trying to improve on it like in MGS 4. Trying to sneak past or fight a group of MJ 12 who are blending into the walls ? now that would be something.

I noticed on the Wikia page those troops in the picture are labelled as Belltower spec ops: http://deusex.wikia.com/wiki/Belltower_Associates

I can't say if that's accurate or not though.

I actually think in terms of armor (not color scheme as red and black aren't exactly OMG UNIQUE for evil characters) they look like the NSF. obviously the original deus ex had technology limitations and most characters had armor that looked liek it was just regular clothing/painted on but the nsf had the same sort of outfit in terms of the chest plates, shoulder pads, masks etc. I think if the NSF were put into a game now they'd look pretty similar to those new soldiers due to the advanced technology and I don't think the mj12 look like those at all aside from the color scheme. I have a feeling mj12 will be there in some form (but not totally involved as people would claim it's not making its own plot), most likely just starting out or something like that but i think it'd be cool if they were somehow connected to the nsf. probably a huge long shot but at this point i think either is plausible because the armor looks similar and we really have no idea.

i've actually restarted playing the original again and all the memories are flooding back, and reminding me of how much HR is finally going to be a real sequel. i've heard people ***** about hte head bobbing in HR, but there was head bobbing in the original as well and i don't find it a problem at all. so many things in HR have a nod to the original DX which i think is really cool, the only thing I hope is that they don't make a plot toooo similar. I doubt they will and they'll mostly just create connections but reading emails from gunther with his awful spelling and neanderthal esque attitude is very similar to barretts emails and his attitude like that, then you have the other chick who is like anna, etc.

hopefully they can create something that connects and keeps all the nods to the original going and keeps that feel, but has its own stand alone story. playing the original again is making me even more pumped because i've been waiting so long for a true sequel and this is finally it.

I believe the FEAM troops are MJ12.

Edit: Here is what I believe MJ12's ideology is:

The Icarus Effect made it pretty clear that the Illuminati are definitely a part of the plot, and they serve as a (seemingly) antagonistic force. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if MJ12 makes an appearance as well... in fact, I think it would be pretty cool and awesomely ironic if Adam assists a newly forming MJ12 in the hopes of stopping the Illuminati. Since the novel makes the Illuminati out to be incredibly powerful at this point, it seems the only way Adam would hope to fight it would be from within... cue Bob Page and his splinter group - Majestic 12.

This is what I'm expecting to happen and what I'm hoping for. To see their rise to power from its start. I also love Singularity's idea.

They started before Adam was born, like all of the factions vying for power behind-the-scenes.
