Hello brothers in crime,
I miss playing Thief games so I decided to look up for some info on the new game,and surprisingly I had no clue about this forum.I saw a lots of treads about what people would like to see in the new game so I'll share mine with you.Excuse me if I repeat some of the existing ones but I don't feel like searching through the whole forum.So let's go:
Shadows and Light:
-When passing through a door or there is a lightened wall behind you guards should be able to see you,even if you walk in shadows.Try it in your home and you'll see.
-Even if a part of you is lightened the glowing crystal should change.In the third game i had a lot of moments when my hand is lightened and no one sees it.Not to mention the others
-When attempting to back stab an enemy and he sees your shadow he should notice you.For example there is torch behind you and a pagan is in front of you with his back facing you he should notice that.
-Let there be multiple shadows.If there are two or more torches in the room give shadows responding to all of them.It helps to determine the position of the enemy.
Personality and AI:
-Going on with the lights when you put down something and someone notices he should go somewhere(giving you time to move) and get a lighter to light the source back on.I mean i love it when i put down every thing and they just walk like nothing is bothering them and in the same time even I can't see clear.
-If anyone sees a dead or ko'd body they must immediately notice someone else plus they shouldn't stop looking for you till the end of the mission.Not like a guard finds your corpse room (lol) and in less then 2 minutes he is like "Ahh he's probably gone" and he goes on like nothing happened and the others don't even know...
-When in patrol mode the guards shouldn't be like "Who's there?" for every little sound you make.
-Hammers and pagans can use some personalities.I mean they speak in different way and look in a different way but they are all the same.They walk the same way they notice you under the same circumstances and they fight the same way.The same goes for the keepers.
-Undead in the third game were great.I mean we all had to go through the Abysmal Gale and be careful. But taking the same damage from their fists like a sword attack come on.Let them drag swords to the ground making a horrible sound.Also to prevent players to just run by them Give them something like grab and bite when they pass by you.
-When a certain person knows there is someone that should be walking in the next room(and you killed him ^^ ) don't make them be jumpy on you.They should know there is someone from their house.I mean you don't say "Who goes there" when your mother walks through the house,do you?
Thief gear:
-The dagger- Make targets bleed a lot when killed with dagger.Only it should be able to kill armored forces.
-The blackjack- knocking people out should be silenter than the dagger. They shouldn't be able to knock armored guards out.When a person is knocked out let him wake up in about 10-15 minutes.
-The bow- Let it have broad head arrows, water arrows, noisemaker arrows and rope arrows.The shots should travel faster.The trace that lasts after the shot was cool but make it more invisible.Broad head arrows should kill unsuspecting targets and when being noticed headshot will be great for oneshoting.To compensate the headshot make it be slow drawing all the way back for full potential.
-Potions- Health only.I don't like the others
-Flash-People should look for you after you use it.Should work only once on target otherwise it becomes spam and ruins the experience.
-Gas bombs- Those were great help. By having them I think the gas arrow is pointless.
-Climbing device-I don't think the rope arrow is that cool as all of you say. A hook or something else will be great.If they make rope arrow make it be one and the thief to be able recollect it.
Camera
-Make it FPS for the most part.And let me explain why.It is so stupid running around with the 3d and seeing what is happening in front of you before your character does,and it's not realistic.Also when you enter a room and you are with the 3d you can't see anything in the room itself.
-We all have seen the great screen shots from the third game so make a 3d camera for those purposes.
-Please let me see my body when looking down xD
