Well, GDC starts today.I was just wondering if maybe the community manager or anybody else could answer this question for me.

GDC is always exciting for me, they have the better GOTY awards and there is always some new gameplay footage. Some games even get announced at GDC (pretty rare).

Sooo, is EM at GDC? Can we expect some new info? :o

The only person from Eidos Montreal doing any presentation is listed here. (http://schedule.gdconf.com/session/12242) Seems to have to do with audio and such. Nothing else listed on the docket from them. No listing from Eidos or Square Enix in the exhibitors list.

Thanks NKD

But it could be that there might be some behind closed doors press event right? Those are sometimes not listed on the site, right? Or am I way too optimistic :'(

Wouldnt count on too much, perhaps a releasedate for Deus Ex, but probably not. EM focus is on Thief 4, which will be presented through an audio panel. Dont forget that GDC is there for game developers, not so much for consumers, so there are only a few announcements to be made. Dont think there's much behind closed doors stuff. Besides, Deus Ex is at a stage where behind closed doors sessions become rare.

T4 is expected to be a closed-doors event, but only because the audio discussion will be in context of T4, but is mostly a talk in hopes the industry will take notes about the generative audio system, since games usually don't apply sound as a game-mechanic quite the way the Thief games do. We shall see if someone leaks something yet again, or if the marketing plan will remain in place as-is this time. Paul Weir said he'd look into releasing his paper for the talk, if the public can't see the video of the talk, but with the closed-door policy, it's unlikely we will, even if the game parts were censored out.

No, we lowly peasants aren't worthy of getting any new information in the form of gameplay videos or interviews via GDC regarding DXHR.

EM doesn't owe us anything. We should beg forgiveness from our betters (EM) just for positing such a blasphemous question!

Just to a limited number of journalists and developers. Moreso the latter than the former.

Must say i'm pretty dissapointed myself, can't be anything but!! The journos again?

The game must be pretty far off, showcasing to the public and a reign of trailers usually shows up a couple of months before the release.

We'll maybe we can hope for something at PAX , coming up pretty soon and at least JJB is attending.

But thanks alot for your answer Kyle!

i think there is some shows in germany and london early in the year. isnt there PAX east or something like that ?. one of these shows would be the best time for a release date. it would be suicide to do it at E3.

I just said PAX, and yeah it's PAX east, it's in 9 days, it's in Boston and DX:HR will be shown there.

2027 - The Near-Future: Live Demo of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dev Team Q&A
Main Theatre
Saturday, 2:30pm - 3:30pm

Want to see what world will look like in 2027? The truth will change you. Join core development team members of the highly anticipated action RPG, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, for a live demo of never before seen gameplay! Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the return to one of the most critically-acclaimed video game franchises of all time. The game tells the story of Adam Jensen, a man cybernetically augmented against his will, who finds himself in the middle of a global conspiracy to which he holds the key. By offering players the chance to advance through the game in multiple and vastly different ways, Deus Ex: Human Revolution challenges the foundations of gaming and provides an immersive experience where every choice has a lasting consequence. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Wow, I can't believe that I waited too long to get passes for PAX, and had to settle on a Friday pass because the Saturday/three-day passes were sold out.

Nice of them to, you know, say ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT THIS ANYWHERE. If I had known they were even going to BE there, I would have gotten my pass months ago. This sucks ass. I had finally gotten over missing out on the whole convention, and now I found out this crap. What a bunch of bull****.

*post aimed at devs but still by all means discuss* - I encourage it
GDC photo on Facebook Deus Ex:HR page - to tease fans
Post is about Release date and a possible demo suggestion.

Why do you tease noone likes a tease at least not a Dev that doesn't deliver? Thinks of it this way it seems you now have to constantly tease because you opened the can of worms by letting journalists play your demo and ppl read your constant info because now if you dont.....fans lose interest or perhaps even momentum so now you must continuously make it fresh up until the game comes out. ( I speak of articles and comic tie in) Thats bad foresight IMO. I hope you can maintain interest. *next is speculation* I say be bold and release a demo maybe a two parter to show case a lvl for stealth etc (the one lvl with sariff industries warehouse possibly) and one for immersion aka that Hong Kong lvl that we see in vids that you show constantly. You have serious competition coming (skyrim and ME3 etc.) and you have the advantage because you have a demo already. I say release it with polish and you will find your way into the gaming community's minds.
I want to add that no dev has made a two parter rpg demo that showcases the game's aspects.
I think it could help. Sell your game and appease fans and draw attention for newcomers.

How does that photo tease the community about the release date or a demo?
Looks like two play booths, just like several members of the press had earlier in February to write their previews.

DX:HR will not be at GDC at all, except for some guy from the team, who will talk about audio-something-something, not related to DX specifically. Also, it's Shanghai, not Hong Kong

I wonder what Kojima will say ?. its probably not crazy enough for him.

PS. did I Kojima ever get rid of the motion sickness that stopped him playing games ?

This explains the explosion of cutscenes in the MGS series.
