So I've been googling around a bit and found out that I'm not the only one that sees screen flashing(screen turning white for a split second during gameplay) that has the game crash, and well sometimes I think I see sparkling while playing. But I've noticed it's some kind of landscape glitch where you basically see through the landscape(tricking me into thinking it's an item or a weapon that's sparkling). Or so it seems. Anyway at least the screen flashing(mostly while looking at the map etc) and crashing happens to a lot of people on all platforms (360/ps3/pc). So I was wondering if there's a chance for these things to be fixed? Or if the games just gonna be left alone like this. I also wonder if crashing may damage my PS3. So far JC2 crashed 3 times in 52 hours of gameplay on PS3 for me.

Have you tried deleting the Game Data Utility entry for Just Cause 2? Have you tried the disc in another console or had the disc replaced by the retailer? Are the crashes happening constantly in the same place or by doing the same thing?

We are not aware of any known issues with the PS3 version. Also, the game crashing 3 times in 52 hours of gameplay isn't excessive. Please bear in mind that crashes, especially random crashes, can be hardware related issues also.

No I haven't tried deleting the game data utility. Look these are obviously flaws within the game, the game sometimes crashes and has some graphical errors. And if you are not aware of any known issues then maybe you should try looking around on the internet or even these forums. My disc is obviously fine and I refuse to go through silly trouble just to find out that these are programming errors.

The crashes just happened randomly during gameplay by the way, they didn't even happen when there was more activity than usual or anything.

Unfortunately, if you are not willing to follow troublshooting advice to narrow down the cause of the issue, then there is very little we can do to help you.

My game just crashed again. But this time I left it on for a few hours then came back to play and it crashed after about 30 sec. I don't know about getting a replacement from the retailer anymore, but seeing as how the same game on 3 different platforms is known to have the same issues I would doubt the game data is corrupted or the disc damaged.

Unfortunately "crashing" is something which can potentially happen with any game, on any platform. In our experience, crashing has multiple possible causes and it is for this reason that we have to troubleshoot the issue.

My game is also crashing, but it only tends to happen when I wrap my console in a blanket.

I demand that you fix this Eidos! :mad2:

Well sure potentially anything can happen. The sky could fall down right now too. But for the most part PS3 games do not crash. With like exceptions like using the swing glitch in GTA4. Or playing Saints Row 2 (that game crashes quite a lot). Generally the PS3 does not crash.

Also I guess the point I'm trying to make is that let's say for argument's sake the crashing is due to flawed programming (which seems to me it is). That it's just not gonna be fixed. Because it's a finalized product. Right? I'm guessing nobody is going back to really fix this game, everybody is busy on the next game.
