I just got this crazy idea, and to be honest I havn't thought it thru lol but Im bored and it sounds like an ok idea from what I just thought.

Anyways have you guys ever heard of Alternate reality games(ARG) well there games that contact you in real life. Well Basically you give the game your phone, email,IM,and even fax info in order the game to contact you and leave you messages. For example you might get a phone message of the game that will give you clues etc.

I never played such a game but I remember Majestic back in the day, it was like a conspiracy game from what I read and it basically did just that, it will contact you and leave you messages that would help you solve what is happening and do decision I believe......maybe some you play it?

Here's a video incase you wanna know

FLoS7m62dWU

Now this my idea first of all it won't just be an over the phone kinda of game.....The game will compose of an actual FPS MMO, now the thing is the game will contact you when you are not playing, you will do decisions from your phone that will effect your game or when you're on the internet and on you're AIM, you might receive a link showing you a video of something.

An example will be able to get messages from the "enemy", getting info from them and even betraying you're organization.....or getting tips about something then checking them out in the actual game....or perhaps get a phone call and get a link send to you while you're on the internet that will give you info in some certain aspect.

Now I know theres alot of questions regarding this concept......like what if the person plays the game all the time? Well he will be contacted thru the game then lol or maybe he will still receive phone calls when playing Im not sure lol....Also a person wont have to answer, it could go to your voice mail or you can just plainly just listen to your messages in game and do your decisions there incase you dont have a phone or anything lol....so it wont be like an actuall requirement...You can also choose when the game should contact you if you want.

As for the MMO FPS part of the game....I was thinking perhaps be an agent of unatco or NSF and the most "elite" players perhaps could join more "elite" organizations or hell be independant, it is Deus ex after all, is your choice...this will allow PVP....I was thinking the game should also be extremly open ended and full of choices like the actual game and allthough is an MMO I want the missions to feel be unique and to have you immersed...not like doing some grind.

Now the big problem will be having 1000 agents surrounding Unatco director trying to get "quest" lol....or some other guy doing the same "quest" as you lol........which totally ruins Immersion which is what I love about deus ex, right.....Well a way to fix this is that at certain points like walking to the directors or head chief office so you can get a mission, you won't see anybody else so you will feel immersed and also when going to do a mission, at a certain point you won't be effected by other people doing the same mission(unless you're mission could be done with a buddy and the Chief director approves)...or perhaps just have a limited ammunt of people in the free roam world and have a bunch of people like in some parts?...Now thats my solution, probably not the best lol but this is a concept.........

Now I like playing against lots of players so perhaps some missions will be "bigger than you"....what this mean is that you will still be immersed in the game except these big global missions will require lots of players to do...it will make you feel as being a part of something bigger than you...Now the missions arn't going to be like some PVP battleground or some dungeon lol....they will be part of the story.

Also it would be cool if you can get grouped up in the Alternate reality part of the game with friends and you will be able to give info to solve some problems or make decisions or even betray your friends lol (of course your real number wouldn't be used and it will be like txting or chatting, no voices)

Now I know this concept has some huge holes(I realized alot of holes when writing this lol like the immersion problem).....but I don't know it sounds like an allright idea...

I mean if any game can be an alternate reality game, its deus ex, getting phone calls about conspiracys etc will make the game extremly immersive IMO.

I mean just imagine getting 3 different text or phone calls from completly AI all telling you different perspectives that will lead you to do a decision, while your in your job or travleing lol.

So what do you guys think lol

I won't leave you twisting in the wind here. I too would love to see a DX style mmo. I dont care much for the alternate realty aspect and I wouldn't mind if they changed the story a lot, but I really want the game play. I think the shooty/sneaky/hacky/talking style of game play is perfect for a mmo where you do the same mission over and over.

Being the game geek that I am, I came up with a little bit of an idea how it would go. You would start out on the floor of an technology convention (Being held by versalife). You can take your time walk around the booths in a optional tutorial. Each boot would teach you a new bit of the game. For example you can visit the "fake'co firearms" booth to get a quick guide on how to shoot and reload. You can also skip all of the booths and head right to the main floor where the whole place blows up.

All of that was before you even start making your character. What happened is the convention was bombed and you are wounded and almost killed. lucky for you versalife volunteered to cyberneticly rebuild the survivors of of the explosion. Now you get to make you character picking their face and what skills/augments you start with.

You start the game in a part of town called the chop-shop because of the black market in robot limbs. When you wake up you're in the back of a versalife limb clinic with your new face and your new augments. A versalife doctor explains how you where almost killed and then rebuilt, but that you don't own them anything and you are free to go. If the player presses them then the doctor will offer a few missions, but the player is now totally free to do what they want.

The game would play like DX that is more like a FPS then a RPG. Each of you skills would level on there own letting you unlock new items and weapons. For example level a level 1 Assault-weapons skill will let you use a sawed off shot gun where a level 50 skill would let you use a fully auto shotgun with exploding shells.

Hey guys! Not sure if any of you here have heard of this game but prior to my current obession with a very well known Blizzard title, I was very well intrigued by a game called Neocron. Linky here: http://ng.neocron.com/index.php?id=149

When I first heard about it I really REALLY wanted to play it(never got the chance as I was back in full time education back then). I had kinda forgotten about it and I'm currently re-establishing myself with it. Tempted to give it a try! :)

That sounds pretty good, I hope they do a deus ex MMO eventually but do it right like the way you are describing.

and I think I looked up the game neocron once....I need to see if I like it, seems interesting.

Me too. Oh about Necron I heard that it actually runs on the same platform as DX1.

Hmm sense I am here I might as well geek out more with my idea for DXonline. One of the neat things about DX how you can play it over and over again trying new things each time, so for my idea, all the mission arcs are repeatable. After you finish one, you can go to your computer in your house and have the arc reset.

This lets you replay your mission with any advanced weapons and augments you found and experience it in a new way. For example the first time you played there was fence with a door you had to pick, but this time you can use your new wall climbing augment to clime over it.

Repeating a mission also unlocks a few other things. First is advanced mode. In this mode there would be more guards and other small changes to make things harder. For example last time you bribed a guard with a beer, but this time he is more picky and wants wine. Maybe last time you got in threw a vent, but this time it has a laser grid over it.

The next thing that unlocks is a challenge mode. In this mode, the game is watching you and its keeping score. It keeps track of how many guards you kill how, many doors you hack, ect. At the end of the mission, a little score scree pops up and rates you on how sneaky you were, how hacky you were, ect. It also keeps track of whether you made a no kill run or a full ghost run.

After about five replays, something new unlocks. Cheat codes. I think it's about time that MMOs have cheat codes. At this stage, you completed the mission over 6 times. The game is saying that you know how to do the mission and maybe it is starting to get tired, so it lets you turn on different cheat codes (Big head mode, unlimited ammo, low gravity, ect) to play it in a completely new way.
