Would it comfort you if I say that compiling map for Q3 based games, may easily take 6-12 hours (even days on rare occasions). So, DromEd processing times are in fact very fast (IMO) and you should be happy. :p

ugh, its not the pathfind, i was just aggravated with the whole thing basically. crashed twice on me today within the span of ten mins. once was dromed, once was just the computer. and its the tedius details i hate as well. ive noticed an urge to kill all gaurds, and to jump to my death in game mode as well :D

this post is just a joke for me to vent frustrations from various sources :p

Hmm...This is interesting. If Q3 DM maps can take so long, what are full T3 missions (assuming they will be called missions) going to be like? :(

Anyone know what UT3 mapping times are like?

I don't know for sure but from what I've heard compiling there is much faster than in Quake (because it doesn't use BSP or so I've been told). Also, since almost everyone here has (or will have) powerful machines (in anticipation of T3 and all that), I'd say you shouldn't worry about it. ;)

thanks for having a sense of humour guys, im surprised ya'll didnt nag me for posting this in the wrong section :D

huntress-take a day off??! nay! to rest is to show weakness. dromed thrives off of our weakness. must not show dromed weakness :p

you know, i wanted to finish this fm in time for christmas and today at work i made a checklist of things i still need to do, and divided them into sections, for m-f of this week. ill be close, but i dunno. thing is this fm cant be beta tested in two days. it will be a crying shame if i cant have it done by saturday and ready to test. i figure if i get everything but the final briefing done by sat, that gives me sat night, sunday, mon, and tues to have it tested and released on christmas day. i wanted to have it released on the eve but i dont think it possible. it would also seem silly to release it on christmas day since i dont think most of us will be playing thief on christmas day(unless youre like me and celebrate every holiday with a good fm :D)

what am i doing? back to work, taffer, or it will never be done!

LOL amievil?...and I beg to be forgiven for suggesing such a terrible idea of resting for a bit :D I didn't understand it was on Santa's list for us Good Taffers to open on Christmas Day! I'm also one who will be turning on my puter to check things out as my Family will be gathering in San Diego for the most part and I'll be here :( So guess I'll celebrate with a bout or two with some local guards who's purpose is to keep Taffer's from making a living...darn it, LOL Don't they know I (errr) Garrett needs to buy presents too??? Expecially for Mercedes I'm thinking...or maybe even something for Sheriff Truart just so he'll turn the other way...I hear he can be bought! :D Continued good luck and success in completing it amievil? Ta and Good Hunting too!

The Unreal engine doe use BSP for some very useful info on BSP and the unreal engine check here. (http://www.birrabrothers.com/drac/dmain.asp?dbp=59) Gumdrop, you’ll be pleased to know the UnrealED has one of the if not the fastest optimisers around, maybe the fastest. Many smaller maps optimise almost instantly it’s very powerful. IMO UnrealED is the most powerful and user friendly editor on the market and with version 3.0 it just gets better and better. Sigh still so long to wait before we can sample such delights :D

The trick is to turn it around. Punish that nasty DromEd for crashing on you by not clicking on it's .exe for a whole 24 hours! :D

index out of range error now:rolleyes:  all i did was create a couple more guest rooms and i didnt room brush them yet. so dromed decides to be a pain and gives me the error like i dont know that i didnt brush them. usually when that happens ill optimize and thats what im getting ready to do after i finish once again, the pathfind.

ive learned one thing about dromed in the last 2 years, and that is that when youre almost done with a level thats when all the errors start to pop up :D

further proof that dromed is a living thing and evil: last night, i got the error index out of range after doing a pathfind. tonight, the only change made to the level was adding a gaurd on the exterior. done the pathfind just now, no errors. its out ta get me!

mmm, choclate good!

i think im pushing it too hard. last night, during my last pathfind i fell asleep. i awakened two hours later to find that my computer froze while i was asleep. bummer. i had to just turn it off and go to bed. reason i fell asleep was becuase ive been working 50 hr weeks again and was just soo tired....i was planning on finishing that pathfind, saving, and going on to bed. oh well, ill have to check pportal and see if i can recover last nights work.

(this thread is becoming like a dromed journal for you all to read :D)
